they do protect the head in taekwondo, you retarded fucks dont know there talking about and you waist your god damme time on this. thing i want to say, koreans had been train to kick the head over all of other country. not only they had graceful head kick, they had timing that they dont expect. i could be hard to get kicked in the head because of good reflex but someone like korea who is best head kicker in this sport, i got hit in the head. just all timing.....

In olympic version you cant punch in the face, only in the torso.

In ITF version and on the streets (self-defense) you are permited to do so :D

taekwondo (wtf or itf) kicks are powerfull and very fast and there are a lot of fighters who use taekwondo kicks in k1 (park yoon soo , sherkan yilmaz..) and in mma (juras, bas rutten..) but to fight in this kind of competition the fighters have to adapt this style and complete with bJJ kick boxing..(ex:bas rutten(karate kick box and tkd)

Tae kwon do is so useless in a real fight you dont even know. a muay tai spin side back kick is much stronger than a taekwondo spin side back kick. @jaehyoungyun Taekwondo is not a sport it is a martial art. It is used as a sport but it is not a sport. When not in a tournament taekwondo is deadly (unless you suck) they wear chest protection for a reason. If they didn't they would kill each other. You say muay thai has stronger kicks, this may be true but they are far slower. Taekwondo retains enough power to be deadly but has enough speed to make it very hard to dodge.

@qwatsdat i don't know much about Taekwondo. it certainly looks like it cant keep you sharp and anything that practices you in kicking to the head is deadly. but i would not think that it is comparable to practical forms of martail arts eg boxing, kickboxing, jujitsu..ect i would say this for footing reasons alot of it leaving you exposed not a big deal for a points system cuz stepping on someone's head is prob a disqualification. saying that the reflex of the whole thing could prove useful

thats what my coaches tell me, but ive found you rarely get injuries from blocking kicks with your arms. I'd rather take a kick to the arms any day of the week than take a clean shot to the chest protector or head. Its a natural reaction to block, you can't help it. But I still sparr with my hands down

keeping your hands up will just slow down your footwork and agility. it will also leav u vunerable to lower body shots which is where the majority of kicks are scored. this isnt a real fight...its a sport..it has rules. there is no rule that says you must keep your hands down, it is just more efficient in these circumstances given hand techiques to the face are not allowed to encorage more kicking and head kicks are actually not as common as the video makes out.
