crap game i got it with my mega drive. its funny cos on the back of the game case it says "Puggsy is destined to become the next worldwide smash hit!"
Nope...this is all wrong. There were only 5 bosses...no crab thing. The Sega CD must have added a lot of stuff cause there also was no words telling you what to pick up and where to move it too.
This is by far my favorite Let's Play. Must be my 4th time watching it. I had no idea a game of this caliber existed. After watching this the first time i just had to get it and play it. Now it is one of my favorite games of all time as well. XD
"OK, that's all of the the levels of puggsy your allowed to play. now go and play a cartridge version of the game instead of this silly copy. Until then.......bye. Travellers tales 93."
All of the typos and whatnot are presented as they are in the original message.
So, interesting fact: The Puggsy cartridge does not contain SRAM, but the game still attempts to write to where the SRAM WOULD be in order to make sure that there is no SRAM present.
If there is SRAM the game will function as normal, but only for the first few levels. After these few levels the game stops working, and the player is presented with a personal greeting from the Traveller's Tales developers themselves.
Though Traveler's Tales is no longer the awesome developer it was in the 16 and 32-bit days, they still do make popular games, such as the LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones. Among others, they also did the game based on the new Transformers movie. So they aren't completely what you call "no-name".
You can still play Puggsy if you go grab a free emulator.
I used to play this game as a little kid in the 90's, and I remember not knowing what the fuck it was about AT ALL, but still playing the shit out of it anyway.
Amazing game. The graphics and the art style are charming, but still retains complex puzzles and challenges for hardcore gamers. :DStill hvae it on the Mega Drive.
carrry out with you for extra points (an early example of pre-Havoc physics?)- as a result it's accessible but also an intriguing mystery for hardcore players.
It also features rotational style effects that only the SNES, in terms of consoles, had previously seen the likes of as far as I;m aware. I didn't finish it though- it becomes difficult. If you get this, a few of the Sonic games and a few of the Disney games, you have some of the best 16 bit platforming.
The Megadrive version is beautiful but the Mega CD version has some gorgeous sections. Puggsy is certainly one of my favourite Megadrive games. I remember being immediately impressed by the graphical style and music. It's a puzzle platformer (with shooting if you wish as well thanks to guns you can pick up) and well designed in every aspect down to the colour scheme and font. There is always more than 1 way to finish a level- and then you have choices about which type of object/s to
I was like 4 or 5 years old when my dad bought me the Sega Genesis, and Puggsy was my first and favorite game(even named my rabbit after it). Was there another version to this game? After skimming through all the vids following this, I don't remember most of the stuff being in the one I played. That or I just can't remember everything I did 14 years ago, lol.
does anyone remember the playstation 1 game that was very short lived called 'overboard' where you were in control of a ship from a birds-eye point of view and you had to shoot stuff and i was a little bit like puggsy. cos i think that was by Travellors Tales... OMG didn't TT do abe's oddysee ect.? sorry flashback...from about 5 years ago lol
this is awful..they changed the music...they added crap...they even explain how to beat the levels...the entire POINT of puggsy is that you have no freaking idea what is going on and you have to spend 300 years just trying to figure out the point. ugh. how dare they release this crap and cheapen Puggsy. I wish I never knew this version existed. Okay, I'm done.
The sega cd version of this game sucks compared to the genesis version. The only thing better is that it has an extra boss and the intro and ending scene is argueably better. The downsides though is that all the boss battles all share the same BGM not the awesome music that the Genesis version had.
this was a really weird game, i remember owning it in 1994, the game makers were on crack, some of the items u can carry are mug full of beer, then u can toss out the beer on someone as a weapon and the characters and stages were weird, dream like. It was a really hard or long game too, I never beat it
Traveller's Tales made Sonic 3D and Sonic R, and they're still in the business with those LEGO games. Puggsy is definitely not their most popular game.
WELL FOR NOTICE.. I GET THIS GAME AND THE SEGA FOR MY 4th BIRTHDAY,, BUT IT STILL ROCKS :D:D:D (I've downloaded the emulator, and now I'm also playing this game)
This game brings back so many memories of my childhood.

Not even close to 'no-name'! They did Leander which was a great game, as well as Mickey Mania - a classic.
They've also done a whole shed load of licensed games; Toy Story, Finding Nemo, all the Lego games...

Overboard is also called Shipwreckers, I like that game but it is a bit hard sometimes. Abe's Oddysee is great as well.
Get all 3 for PC or PSP if you haven't done so already :)
