Technical expertise? Who cares? This is rock and roll at its purest. In the future, Steve will always be seen as a genius for his energy and attitude, not to mention his BAD riffs.
Eh, maybe because he is a tight guitarist, maybe because The Pistols were a massive influence to Chrissie as they were to masses of others, maybe because the Pistols used to cover this & demoed it when they were first startingng out. Why shouldn't he ???? !!! He is still a well known guitar player 30+ years on.
Chrissie obviously has way cool taste in songs to cover. The Small Faces should be glad of the publicity and royalties. Who would you douche-bags rather hear doing this, twat faces like Madonna or Gwen? FYI Steve Jones was in the Sex Pistols and played with Siouxsie & Th Banshees for awhile after, not The Clash.
@boingdabber Fucking hell, I remember this on tv about 30 years ago, 30 years before that we'd just come out of the second world war and were still on rations. If I remember correcttly Steve was introduced to the audience before he came on and did this number. I've always remembered it, Funny how you remember some things from eons ago vividly and last night is a blur. DUH!
Steve Jones and Crissie Hynde were lovers in the late 70's. They remembered their affair in a radio interview one year ago: SJ - "We had a great sex that night, huh?" CH - "Yah, that was fantastic!..."
She is singing the entire first verse out of tune.... :-p

This gig was one of the Pretenders best live performances, especially "up the neck" which was played at the end of the show!
Has anyone got the whole show on video?
