A few gags and some decidedly lacklustre songs (by their standards anyway) like "all together now" was about it. They werent too keen on the project, although when it was successful they were of course delighted with it.

No, these were actors.  The Beatles did not like the TV series made by the same team, and wanted no involvement in this movie. They let them make the film only to fulfill their contract for a third Beatles movie. When it was almost finished they liked what they saw and agreed to film the closing scene.
