This song, and his work with Bowie on the 'Let's Dance LP', captures the truest essence and abilities of SRV. His most remembered works~ virtuosity in fiery pentatonic and distorted texas shuffle and 80's southern rock, were more of a caricature of what he really was, IMO. I remember the SRV-'wannabes', with long coat and trademark hat, who would show up at local taverns, playing a passable facsimile of everything BUT this song, 'Cat People', and maybe 'Little Wing'. There's a reason for that.

Me and I band played this at my school's talent show last year ; not as good, but guess who took first place in the musical performance! I think the reason I didn't quite get the same sound was because I used a Gibson Dot fitted with a Bigsby instead of my Strat. All the same, it's still a beautiful piece of music that I will continue to play as long as I live.

One of the classiest things I have ever seen was when Johnny Carson paid a tribute to his son, a photographer who was killed in a car wreck, by showing some of his work while playing this song in the background.

IMHO, it was a great tribute both to his son and SRV.

In the early 80's wuz the first time i'd laid ears on SRV. He was simply amazing. I seen him open up as a "specialSupriseGuest" for Rober Plant @ the Hartford CivicCenter in Connecticut. since that time i'd experienced his master craftmanship on 4 other occations in upState NY. This song is one of my favorites' SRV is certainly missed by me. Enjoy the world and all it's offerings....and remeber children "blues ain't nothin' but a goodman feelin bad."
