lacrosse is especially bad for these reasons.

1. the drownings all happen in cold water months. when you fall into the river when it is cold, hypothermia sets in fast and then its over

2. lacrosse has the pier where steamboats part 2 blocks from downtown bars. most rivers have a gradually decline to max depth. people realize it and can get out. there, it goes from shore to 20 feet of water in one step. that is why lacrosse is worse than other river towns.

nice response. how bout you use logic and facts next time instead of swear words. i used facts that are all true. the ALL are cold water drownings. they don't happen in the summer. it does drop off into well over your head water right away. even a drunk person would get out of cold water if they weren't in over their head. if you look at the facts most of them go in at Riverside Park, where it drops off considerably throughout. now, inform me why you think otherwise.

I live in La Crosse and I think its a beautiful and great community. I too love going down town on the weekends to have fun. In my perspective I dont think its because people get too drunk, I think theres more to it then that.

People have been falling in the river here drunk since this town had residents. The lawmakers think they can legislate away underage and binge drinking but it has only pushed the college kids away from campus to downtown(closer to the river) and caused all the bars to start competing for there business with cheap liquor.
