I think that the chances the new MBPs with come with blu ray is slim. Apple SHOULD be including blu ray drives with their computers and they COULD (with some exception) but I think they won't; and sadly the reason not technological, it's business. There are some articles out there about Apple's deals with NBC and media corporation's fears of blu ray piracy. I think it's more likely that the MBPs with come with the quad core processor that is currently replacing the intel core 2 duo in laptops

I think in the apple event on tuesday apple is just gonna update the ipods and not redisign any of the laptops, the sepetember event is usually just for the ipods, maybe macworld and when we'll see these changes for the macbook and macbook pro

I think you're somewhat right about most of this stuff. Small, incremental updates for the most part in terms of spec, with an update to the cases on the standard Macbooks.

iPod is where it's at this year. We already know what Kevin Rose said about the nano, but the classic is crying out for an update, which would be along the lines of Wifi, increased capacity and design overhaul (more focus on the screen then the clickwheel).

Either way, I think Sept.9 is a sure fire date.

If the price of macbook goes down to $999 (with educational discount I'm guessing that will be around $899)and if I can sell my old Dell laptop in good price, I might just get one. I actually just picked up a 20" iMac yesterday, after realizing that I really don't need the portability of the MacBook Pro I was waiting to buy... it'd still be nice to see some spec/design revisions, but I couldn't be happier with my iMac, so it should hold me over just fine until I need the power+portability of the MBP.

Sell it on eBay before the new ones are released. When the new ones release the price of the older models will be significantly lower. In your case even more lower because you will be selling it used.
