The complacent NIMBY's of The USA and Canada drive their kids to hockey games with the gas stolen from the impoverished community of the Niger Delta and are neither interested or disturbed that a community in Africa has suffered government intimidation, assaults, rapes and murder so the good people of N America can enjoy the bounty that was stolen with no compensation to the people whose land and rivers have been plundered and left polluted by Shell and Chevron's environmental destruction
Niger delta could best be described as a sea yet people lack a cup of water to drink.I think the solution to Niger Delta is to contract the region to UK or USA for their development. You give the money to local politicians, the steal it. The truth is that the Delta is abosutely negleted. development is political and not a reality. Its babaric and a second form of SLAVERY. All over the world, oil producing state is well cared for and niger delta is the worst oil region in the world.
Welcame okoroman. We really need educated people to govern our country. What i am really viewing is that they want to raid us out from our father's land. Who are the people fighting for the oil & gas? If they had sabotaged the previous idears of the biafra joined war against them because they had eyes over the oil and gas. Just imagin how long we had our independent, rich yet we are still under slavery. Delta is the lions, gepards and tigars we have in nig, with them we're going no where.
we agree that niger delta has been ignored. that led to the militants. but they are now overdoing it, they have now taught nigerians about kidnaping. tell me is there any where in nigeria that is doing well? apart from lagos and abuja. the problem with nigeria is nigerians. not hausa, ibo, yoruba etc. everybody that gets power only thinks of his pocket. dont spread the wrong message that its hausa, its yoruba, its ibo . no, its irresponsible leaders. u want war, can u handle war? we need change
@talibsbs, an Okadaman said to my friend that kidnapping has been the only things that has touched the minds of the elites whereby they can no longer show off thier wealth on the street and oppress people without fear. The masses have more pressing problems. Nigeria! What a shame!!!! My borther without a threat of the Militants, including kidnappers, the powers would not have cared, I condenm such acts but thier are worse things that the masses have to worry about. Nigeria needs true federation
Maybe i don't have a right to speak since i'm not Nigerian , but the time for Africans killing Africans has come to an end. We are losing our window of opportunity to stand together and claim our place in the world society. Obama has the highest seat and the world sees Africans in a new light now. Oil , money , power and western influence will destroy us! How sad are we? How sad are we ?
we all write things i have live abroad all my life but one day i decided to take offshore job in nigeria,i had the opportunity to see what these niger delta-delta are fighting.i was in bayelsa and bonny and in delta,i could not stay in nigeria for another three months.this guys are living in hell, and these so called "RULERS"MINISTERS and "PRESIDENT".live in mansion and in peace and they ask for bread all you do is to go bomb them.this is CRAZY,AM HALF NIGERIAN I DONOT MIND SPEND MONEY say NO NIG
I may not agree with the methods used to dislodge the militants but you and I know that the so-called spike in militarisation is just another name for criminal activities. How come Tompolo refused to speak in English language? How come they present the face of poverty when we all know they reek in wealth?
Why did ... Read moreTompolo refuse to have his face filmed? Even the popular Osama shows his face in his broadcasts.
the problem is that people refuse to see things the way it is. Did the English tolerate the IRA 'freedom fighters'? Do the Americans tolerate 'anti-abortion activists?
@Biafrans7: I am amazed that you are triviliazing issues.
The Niger Delta cannot claim to be without influence. The Vice President , Chief of Defense Staff and the Inspector general of Police are from SS. How come they could not intervene on? Don't forget that if UYA dies, te VP is constitutionally the next president.
What about the amount looted by the governors from the region since 1999? If only they had spent half of it on developmental projects then we can justly criticise the FG.
Apologies, not all of them may be totally corrupt - Donald Duke reposition Cross River state and brought Obudu and Calabar to global attention (rthis is not to say his hands are totally clean). Fashola is transforming Lagos from news we hear from back home. What is any governor in the SSouth doing?
Resource Control: Niger-Delta governors are traitors - Evah
Vanguard, Tuesday July 19 2005
"The governors of the Niger-Delta have openly shown that they are traitors. President Obasanjo called the South-South governors to Calabar and promised to give them oil blocks if they will frustrate their delegates" Joseph Evah
It should now seem obvious the so called governors etc. do not speak for the people but rather act out of their selfish ambitions and the masses cannot be faulted for the action of the criminals and sell-outs/traitors.
Why should any Biafran today aid Nigeria in its continuing to destroy our land and our people? Why should any Biafran continue to insist on one-Nigeria for our people? Why should any Biafran fail to ask for Biafra actualization today to relieve us of destructive enslavement by Nigeria?
It should be obvious that this is the solution to our awful predicament in Nigeria. In fact, the root-solution is Biafra actualization. A Sovereign Independent State for our people gives us back the control of our land and gives our people back their life, that we may repair our tattered culture and battered society, and in so doing, start on the journey back to our wonted Tradition.
A Sovereign Independent Biafra puts us directly in charge of our own destiny, thus to restore Security in our Land and to our land, and allow us to come home, live at home or leave home, in confidence and prosperity, on our own terms, and for reasons other than lack of security.
It is this process-cum- principle of Self Determination that we want to win over all Biafrans to, as our ways to Biafra actualization, in order to stop our maddening misfortunes, reverse our course, and return to Life and living. Biafra actualization is the answer; Self Determination is the way.
WAR IN NIGER DELTA: JTF Sacks Okerenkoko Community. By Joe Nwankwo,Chesa Chesa, Sule Lazarus,Otei Oham (Abuja), Tunke-Aye Bisina (Asaba) and Harris-Okon Emmanuel(Warri), Daily Independent, May 20 2009.
"[Troops on Tuesday intensified their offensive against Okerenkoko, another community in Delta State, razing down all buildings in the all-out confrontation against militants intent on making life impossible in the Deep South.]"
"[Community leaders said over 200 homes in Okerenkoko, the second largest settlement after Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom, were left desolate by the Joint Task Force (JTF).]"
