  • Magnets.

  • *Shakes hands all dramatically scared in shock* Boom! Lmaooooo that made me laugh, replayed it like 100 times to see that xD

  • Impresive!

  • press 3 then wait till "place it" then hit 7

  • Don't give Al Queada any ideas!

  • Keep pressing 8

  • He just made a "Not bad" face at the end there.

  • I want to party with this guy

  • @sdotsmitty89 well take care. It always starts out small ...

  • 18 people failed High School physics class.

  • wonderful

  • so the last one weighs ~100 POUNDS and is more than a METER in height... excuse me mister professor but wich of the systems are you gonna use?

  • @Crusse89 ummmmmmm thats those are the systems i always use (im canadian)

  • he looks weird

  • 0:52 BOUMMMM! XD

  • hmmmm.. might try this on an old car with like... 17-18 :)

  • information like this should never get out.

  • At 0:51 it looks like he got scaared !

  • @kkklover98 I know, right? Like if he DIDN'T see that coming, lol.

  • Geat now terrorists will use this to destroy the Empire State Building.

  • BANG

  • say goodbye to empire states, mabe we can call it "ground domino"?

  • haha..................BOOOOM.

  • Ray Bradbury's book, "A Sound of Thunder" makes a lot more sense now.

  • Dominoe madness ,we must see these things classed as weapons of mass destruction ,and israel must plant a bomb on this guys car before he goes crazy and takes his horrific discovery to iran

  • Using that, and big enough dominoes, someone could simply blow a building down!

  • can create bunch of energy use less energy... woh..

  • @gimkilo57 It doesn't create a bunch of energy, the energy used to push down the last domino was the gravitational potential energy from the preceding dominoes.

  • press 3 then 7 :)

  • 0:52 BOOB

    N THAT'S WHY I CAME HERE :(

  • did we just learn how building 7 came down?

  • what he did not say is that the 28th domino piece is only 1.5 times smaller than the empire state? Metlife building??

  • The video is 1:11 minutes long. The ones are like dominoes! O_O

  • No problems with the explanation or demonstration. But the breathing is damn annoying.

  • If anyone notices a really BIG domino next to the Empire State Building please call the Office of Homeland Security. :)

  • so that 5mm can knock the 1m 10 cm tall ?

  • @bondaga100 yes. although the exact physics of the process are much more complicated, basically the energy required to knock down each successive domino lies in the gravitational potential energy stored in the one before it. this energy, which is given when the experimenter puts a domino upright, is enough to knock down a domino about 50% its size. because each domino has gravitational potential energy, this process can continue indefinitely for any number of dominoes.

  • @bondaga100 wat

  • @TheRimDoctor every object stores gravitational potential energy, which must be released before it does anything. when a domino falls it releases that energy. the first domino causes the energy in the next domino to be released, and the energy in that one causes the energy in the one after that to be released. the energy from the first one is terribly small compared with the last block, and it can't do anything on it's own, but it triggers the release of the potential energy in the larger blocks

  • @daviatu I thought it would be kinetic energy pushing each domino, with gravity directing the direction of the fall.

  • @TheRimDoctor well yes, it is. what you're saying is more of a description of what happens. i was talking about the technical energy transformations that occur when each domino pushes the next. basically, two ways of looking at the same event :)

  • guys expression at 0:53 its very funny.

  • whatta boss

  • Boom

  • 0:52 spaz attack

  • 0:58 Someone phone Al-Qaeda an tell them to bring 28 domino's to New York

  • How do 13 people not like this. Disliking a good video does NOT make you awesome.

  • Awesome!

  • Somehow we need to find a way to use this to generate energy.

  • @nfistfu :

You use energy to set up the dominos. The dominos store this as potential energy (much like a battery). When you tip them, the energy is released. Thus, while you can store and use energy in this way, you cannot generate new free energy in this manner.

  • cool.

  • omg amaging...

  • BOOM! ;)

  • Wtf this was terrible ME WANTS 29 DOMINOS

  • He isn't creepy at all... 0-o

  • 0:25 carefully place it... *knocks one over*

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • BOOM GUY RUNS OUT OF BREATH AND HE DIDNT DO SHIT HA

  • Boom

  • Boom! Lmao

  • the snowflakes gave it a festive feel.

  • press 5

  • interesting stuff

  • Press 5 rapidly! Lol.

  • 0:52 bum!

  • Stand face at the end

  • The next terrorist plot will involve 28 dominoes placed next to the Empire State building. Be prepared.

  • lol 0:52

  • lol :52

  • The comments below r nerds with our a life

  • @MegaGuy123123 So they have your life?

  • Pedoscience

  • he should've run and stand in front of the 13th domino

  • Comment removed

  • His face at the end was priceless xD

  • LOL 0:51 -BANG!!-... "boob"

  • woah boom sounds like boob

  • boom i like the way he said it so unexcited it wasnt like boom!!! it was like a boom =(

  • someone is loanly

  • AAAAHHHHHH XD *claps hands :D

  • 0:43 seriously out of shape

  • i knew this. the government lied to us about 9/11. it was the dominos

  • for some reason when he described the 29th domino as the height of the empire state building i thought of 9-11, imagine if the towers were brought down by dominoes

  • BOOM!

  • i think i just heard him say POOP when de last one felll !!!!!!!!

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes yes, but after process we need to set up the dominoes again.....:)

  • lol look at the guys face when the last one hits the ground!

  • COOOL ;))

  • dont be a pussy, do 29

  • BEWM

  • At 0:35, he sounds tired even before lifting that 100 pound object :-D

  • Someone is getting laid TONIGHT!

  • this reminds me of how our entire planet's economy is going to look in a few years

  • U blew my mind

  • thumbs up if you thought of putting a big domino next to the empire state building.

  • press 8 for hoes

  • wouldn't 1 and a 1/2 times be 150%?

  • Dude needs to get some exercise

  • And Boom Goes The Dynamite

  • Agreed. Potential energy is the key. And energy is only transferred not created

  • but you use energy (potential energy) to place the domino so you wil not be able to use this as a source of energy

  • The awkward moment when dominoes become illegal in the US after this video

  • I never knew this before. Well exact measurements, but that was really cool. THANKS!

  • i wanne see the 29 dominos version please :-)

  • boom lol this guy is great

  • Nice!

  • Ok, but what happened to the conservation of energy?

  • @zachgamer77 Watch the longer version. It discusses what happens to the energy.

  • @smorris123 ...which is?

  • @smorris123 Where can we watch the "longer version" which discusses about the conservation of energy?

  • @smorris123 Where is the longer version?

  • @zachgamer77 lol are you serious, its common sense. gravity is giving the energy.

  • @zachgamer77

Err...It takes just one tiny push to make them lean forward, then the gravity + the mass do the rest.

  • @zachgamer77

it doubles using this method we can dougle our energy solve the energy chrisis and create world peace

fuck the law of conservation of energy thsi man just proved it wrong

  • @zachgamer77 Yeah, it's just potential energy from gravity. That is, gravity is a conservative force. Really this is no different than having a mouse trap with the spring having energy stored. It doesn't take much to release the energy (hence why a mouse better keep its distance if it wants to keep its neck). But the energy released is large enough to set off many other traps. This is just much more cool than that. :)

  • @zachgamer77 it takes energy to stand the dominos up its the same concept as dropping a heavy object

  • @zachgamer77 also due to the fact that the dominoes take energy to put upright, that is potential energy that is stored for later (i.e when the chain reaction begins)

  • @zachgamer77 this is one of the examples of the laws of physics being broken... conservation of energy does not apply here

  • @zachgamer77 Each domino has potential energy in that it is upright. The energy from the previous domino needs only tip the next one so far, at which point gravity does the rest.

That's why this only works for knocking things down.

  • @zachgamer77 i'm guessing it converted to sound energy, imagine two cars colliding?

where did the energy go? it went BOOM!

  • @Genma1989 Wrong.

  • i loved his reaction when the last domino fell 0:51

  • What's a Vsauce army?

  • @vincentizghra vsauce, from youtube shared this vid on twitter... which is also how i got here

  • I'd be interested to see this go from the nano scale all the way up to that last block.

  • @LudicrousTachyon That's an interesting idea. A nanoscale domino would stick to the one ahead of it by the van der Waals force. It would also have trouble with Brownian motion! At the other end of the scale, really large dominos have trouble staying together as they topple. They need to be extremely strong, or they break while falling over. A domino the size of a building would fall almost straight down, like demolished buildings do. See the related video by Gerrydomino.

  • @smorris123 id think they fully got it

  • height of empire state building= 0

  • holy shit batman! its we found the penguin!

  • VSAUCE ARMY

  • those arent dominoes there white rectangular thingies

  • bööm :D

  • that was rad!

  • Thumbs up if vsauce brought you here /,,/

  • DON'T let the terrorists know that all they need is 29 dominoes to top over the empire state building.

  • click 0:45 for epic chain reaction :D

  • awesome, vsauce gave you a shoutout.

  • Boom lol so much enthusiasm

  • thumbs up for who came here from tweetsauce

  • Comment removed

  • So I guess it's theoretically possible to knock down whole building with domino?

  • @d1og3n The building would have to not have a very stable foundation.

  • awesome. very interesting.

  • I challenge you to do 29 dominoes then ;D

  • So if you put 50 dollars in a trading account, and for every trade you were left with 1.50 times the money you had before (just like the size of the dominos). After 29 trades you would have 3,81million dollars.... Just thought I'd put things in perspective here

  • VSAUCE ARMY INCOMING

  • @AngelGirlFromHell These comments are lame, just stop posting them!

  • @99ShadowKing Those comments are lame, too. And this, too. Stop being lame.

  • @tweetsauce sent me here :)

  • VSAUCE!

  • *Slips and knocks over the tiny domino* AH SHIT NO

  • VSAUCE TWITTER!

  • Vsauce inbound

  • first guy from vsauce, vsauce just tweeted this 37 seconds ago...=D

  • haha, that's interesting, thanks for sharing.

  • He looks like a ladies man.

  • Let's go tip over a bunch of towers miahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaha

  • Boom.

  • Lets experiment with 29 dominoes then!

  • wanted to check on that detail

  • I did catch that "about" --Very cool video. I plan to share with my Discrete Mathematics class, but

  • The "food for thought" look you give at the very end of the clip is priceless! Excellent vid :)

  • @DougieBarclay Thank you.

  • @mierzwatube I said the smallest was ABOUT 5 mm high, but it is really a bit bigger --- more like 8 mm. See the original article by Whitehead for more dimensions.

  • I wonder if the smallest can kn ock over the tallest

  • @AnnoyingXDApple Nope. Unless you also include all the other ones!

  • @AnnoyingXDApple Yes, shoot it at about 5000mph at the largest one.

  • This is a perfect example of how a very small event can cause dramatical bigger consequences. So in fact the dynamic behavior of this system is a Chaotic behavior! Well done! Are u an engineer?

  • @lefterismecheng It is not chaotic. It is a chain reaction. I am a physicist, not an engineer.

  • @lefterismecheng Chaotic? I'm pretty sure I could estimate the result without must calculation :P

  • You sounded like u just ran like fifty moles -.- or got handsy

  • @smorris123 i like your pants though!
