  • If you ever want to give that guitar away man let me now WALSTIB

  • Are you using an actual mutron?

  • @MrCraigary123 Nope - I generally use my Axe FX II for all effects. I also have a Proton envelope filter that I think sounds awesome when I don't want to carry the rack (AxeFX)

  • Your so awesome!!!!

  • do you know anywhere that sells the wolf replica?!

  • @tomheuchan1234 There are a range of options out there. What version of Wolf are you looking for? See wwwDOTwald-electronicsDOTcom for what I mean. Check out Matt Moriarty for killer work and Phiga guitars for more affordable options. rukindDOTcom forums have a lot of really good info on builders and DIY options. Hope you get one....it will be my next as well! Or a Ibanez MC500

  • what's with the guitar? do they really sell Tiger copies like that?

  • @chocrow Yup - you nailed it - it is a Tiger copy with some extras (neck humbucker instead on single SDS-1) and a graphtech bridge (for built in midi). There are a few places that can help you with copies of various Jerry guitars. Feel free to send me a msg for details.

  • Nice - Play on Brother...I fiddle around myself and there is NOTHING like the joy of playing - just for one's self...Great tones. Peace

  • @blarneyvenom Couldn't agree with you more! Keep on pickin' and grinnin'!

  • @jkstraw You too Brother - Rock On...

  • that's an awesome guitar

  • Great sound man!!!

  • As a guitarist and DH myself, I know the joy of playing the boys' songs. It is so fun to see other musicians paying their tributes. Way to go, brother! Great gear and a great sound.

  • Not bad but you should label it a cover..

  • @dreamwad1 Thanks for the comment - sorry I don't mean to mislead - just the way I label my vids.

  • Love your voice!

  • That, sir, was a pleasure to listen to. Truly.

  • ......still listening!

  • what pedal/effect do you come in with at 3:57?

  • @gryffindor863 This is my attempt at dialing in a Mutron III effect. The Mustronic Mutron III is the vintage staple. But many clones have come out since the 70's. I am using a modified WAH effect on an AxeFX, but also have a pedal called the Protron and there are the Q-Tron series as well. Wonderful effect!

  • You should really do a video on your awesome gear, you have a real nice sound and itd be good to know a little more about what you using

  • @D3EDH3AD right on man - I have been meaning to do one along these lines. I've had a few requests - been out of the loop lately and not checking in online as often. I'll see what I can squeeze out.

  • blessings brother! great job!

  • Nothing but sweetness. Nice gear.

  • oh, honey, you surely don't suck! wonderful!!!

  • sweet, babe... compliments from a 51 yr old F Deadhead from New Haven, CT. keep it movin' & groovin'!

  • not bad at all, bud

  • jk can play

  • Great cover!!! May I ask, where did you get that guitar?

  • @stratobadger777 Thanks for the kind words - the guitar was built by Danny Ransom. His shop is in the back of Real Guitars located in downtown San Francisco

  • wicked cool

  • very cool. dont wanna be rude, but u mind sharing how much it was????

Ransom doesnt say write on his website...

  • I want that guitar, where can i get one??!?! i MUST know!!!

Awesome video by that way, you're playing reminds my alot of jerrys!! and your singing vocies rocks to!! i would really like to hear you do some Gov't Mule!!

  • wow man, that is awesome. sweet guitar too.

  • @Rocinante64 Thanks man!! Good to hear from you again! Happy New Year.

  • I've only played and/or listened to the dead except maybe a dozen or so times this year, normally it's almost everyday I make a GD loop and jam but I NEED to know EXACTLY what pedal you are using. I have an envelope filter and an auto-wah but none give me this sound. I heard there is a pedal nicknamed "Jerry in a box", what are you using man? Help a fellow musician oot :). Peace man, great playing!

  • @MarcoGreenberg Hey man - I am using an AxeFx for all effects (except reverb). My signal path is Guitar OBEL out -> Axe-FX -> Guitar -> SMS Classic pre-amp -> McIntosh MC2105 -> 2x12 cab

If you really want that Jerry sound - you need to grab an original Musitronics Mutron III Envelope Filter (not the HAZ copy). Usually on ebay for around $500-$650 depending on condition. You also need the OBEL on your axe - esp. for use with the mutron. Message me anytime with questions.

  • Wowsers that is a beautiful guitar. Your playing and singing is very tasteful, thanks for uploading.

  • @Gr8fulBanjo Thanks for the feedback. I am still working on my playing and the guitar certainly keeps me motivated. peace

  • @LedZeppelin362 - a couple of months shy of 4 years. Still waiting on the last piece (a jester inlay to replace the Tiger).

  • good job man

  • nice stuff, Jack

  • Nice bud! Looks like a lot of fun. I play an SG with a Fender DeVille and use Qtron envelope with an Ibanez tube screamer, a boss delay. Considering I don't have time to play in a band I don't think there is anything better than just recording rhythm tracks and soloing all over them. It sounds like you have a sweet setup! I wish there were more dudes like you in my neck of the woods. the possibilities would be endless. I like your clean sound, I bet you can play a real cool "Lazy River Road".

  • @ademeo29 Ya i hear you - I wish there were more people around to jam with as well. The looper/delay pedals come in real handy! You should post some of your stuff up too. Thanks for the msg - I appreciate it.

    peace

  • Awesome job and a way cool guitar as well. jkstraw top quality shines again.

    Keep on picken

  • Awesome job and a way cool guitar as well. jkstraw top quality shines again.

    Keep on

  • Outstanding, I wish we had music like that at our local watering holes. Takes me back to better times. Thanks for the vid, LOVED IT...play on, play on

  • That looks like one of Jerrys Guitars. I was at a Hampton show and I could swear thats the same one. If I remember it could have been at a RFK show too.

Great rendition. Takes me back to the day.

  • @LeBubba Yup - it is a tribute to Jerry's "Tiger" guitar built by Doug Irwin. This one was built by Danny Ransom in SF. Very similar construction, upgraded electronics, closer to his later guitars (triple humbuckers)

  • It's a long time since I saw one of your video. And I'm very glad about the new song and your new guitar. Your still my favourite! Greetings from over the ocean.

    Carlo

  • @DiGerry Thanks Carlo - great to hear from you again. I hope all is well.

  • I'm jealous Jon, next time I'm up your way I definitely want to come over for a strum.

Nice job!!! Just to let you know, I'm going to share this post.

  • @7BridgeProductions You are welcome anytime Rick..cheers

  • I'm jealous Jon, next time I'm up your way I definitely want to come over for a strum.

    Nice job!!!

  • Glad you are back, hope you enjoyed the shows this year!! Thought they were great shows. Man, you sound better than ever on your new guitar!!!! Keep on keepin on!!!

  • man this rocks dude

  • welcome back jack and I'm very glad you came with a tiger in your hands, your sound has the same quality we know AWESOME, pls find your way into Peggy O in your later jam sessions.

  • Wow! I am blowen away, all your new gear, and your jamen on the melody now. You are really practicing aren't you brother?.

  • Love it...glad to see some new videos

  • wow .. thats a sweet guitar and it sounds awesome

  • @LedZeppelin362 Based on his Tiger yes. Doug doesn't make guitars anymore...well I did hear he'll do it for a min of 100k :-) The plate has a Tiger on it - I also have a jester plate on the way.

  • Dude, not sure about all the technical comments, but music sounds great....

  • @tmaley163 Hey I appreciate that...that's what it's all about! Hopefully only better from here :-) peace

  • where's that axe from?

  • @dausmahnke Had it custom made down in SF.

  • i drooled on my keyboard a little over that guitar, you sound great keep posting!

  • where did you get that guitar?? glad you ar back.

  • @wtractor024 It is a custom job - made in SF....local builder named Danny Ransom. Larry Robinson did the inlay work and Gary Brawer checked in on the electronics.

  • Congratulations! It's like a Super Christmas Day! Is this pertty much an exact replica as far as electronics etc? Where did you get the Axe FX? Did you get that in the US? I thought they were only available in Europe???

  • @cosmiccharlienh1 Little different from Tiger. Tiger had the the single coil at the neck. Mine has another Dimarzio Super II....I also have a graph tech bridge so I can play midi with it as well (just wait till I post some acoustic tunes while playing this guitar! It just looks weird!).

Fractal Audio is actually a US based company (Axe-FX makers) - check them out....it is the craziest device I have ever tried!

  • Love the sound man!! Keep on Keepin' on.

  • are you sticking to one scale key (B7?) or moving it around over the A to A Lydian (sharp 4th), which are the same notes, just different tonal center...

what are you playing during the rhythm sections just before each A and B chord?

Are you just flattening your finger over the first two strings on the same fret?

Great stuff!! I've been jamming with you for the last hour... nice axe! love the vocals! I could never sing...

  • @jkilcull Hey man - I am working on answering this question :-) I spent a long time trying to memorize all of the pentatonic positions and the modes....but always loose interest pretty quick...so I split it up with just flat out no-thinking jams (like in this vid) and concentrated studying of what I am doing.

I am just thumbing the bass notes (B/A chords)...still getting used to the neck :-)

These loopers are seriously dangerous devices! I can zone out for 90 mins on 2 chords!

    peace bro

  • is that an auto filter jerry uses for the lead?

  • @prophetdude2 - it's my attempt at it! I use an axe-fx for all effects (except reverb). I have yet to nail the Mutron III.

  • nice Guitar

  • @MrGratefulDean Tx. bro. Its a heavy beast but milky clean tones from day one.

  • Awesome!

  • Very cool man! Nice new axe you got there too. If you could add more info about it (pickups, neck width, etc.) in the description, that would be awsome?! Rock On.....

  • @Kevindad123 I could write a book :-) I'll send you some details via PM.

  • @jkstraw Thanks. That would be great...

  • welcome back! awesome
