I'm a Christian. I do not think they made the show to make fun of all religions, just Mormons. They did have elements that Christians believe, because much of what Mormons believe, Christians believe. It's just the whole Joseph Smith thing that's different, which changes a lot of details. Screw Mormons :) I love you Trey Parker/Matt Stone/Bobby Lopez.
@Mr150Rob they use mormons as the fore front but they making fun of any organised religion. they always say they respect the underlying principles and how it can bring familys closer together but they just like to ridicule the stories they actually believe cause lets face it. its damn retarded.
@Mr150Rob I was raised Mormon. I was the president of my seminary class, a primary teacher, and conducted the music during sacrament service. I LOVE THIS SHOW!
I am with most of you that the speech was funny, very funny.I was imaging the faces of our Utah 'brethren's' faces dropping open at the mention of their prophet Joseph Smith and how he found and translated the Golden Tablets into English and how they said that the Native Americans ARE the lost tribe of Israel. If their 'religion' was not so outrageous with their planets and baths and plural families, compounds, etc....there would be no room for humor. They set themselves up. God forgive me.
Just a question for anyone who may care to answer. Was Chris Rock a producer for this musical? Nad who's the bald guy with glasses behind Trey. He looks familiar.
@eyescandeceive Actually, when I went and tried to buy tickets, the website said the earliest show there are still tickets available for is September 2011. :)
@carriewhite410 Wow--good for you!!! Do you have Amex? I know there is some special Amex seating available but when I went to Ticketmaster and asked for earliest available seating I did not get anything until January.
@eyescandeceive I actually didn't buy tickets because I'll only be there for one day in August, but I went through Broadway.com. That's as close to the source as you can get it--I'd trust that website a lot more than I would anything else.
I love comedians that make even award speeches hilarious lol

@klausweasley Scott Rudin won an Oscar for producing "No Country for Old Men" with the Coen brothers.

Its really great to see Trey so genuine and happy about this award.
Its awesome to see them achieve something they really do care about which is producing a great musical. Fucking hilarious too.
But yeah, comparing this to the Comedy Central "Comedy" Award speech was hilarious.
They totally did not give one fuck about that thing and made that episode about how retarded it was.
