I don't know why Hogarth always remind me of Peter Gabriel. I can see the connection between the two, but make no mistakes, HOGARTH IS NOT COPYING GABRIEL! Both are unique but are the same time, kind of similar. This band is in the same group of Floyd, Yes, Genesis and more recently, Porcupine Tree. Simply among the best!
I've never known a band that seems to so genuinely care about what they are doing. These guys really mean it, and the emotion they put into every performance is testament to that.

wow saw marillion at lemington spa earlier in the year and they opened with this.Blew me away, apsolutely fukin awsome.well done for puting this on ,i need 2 get me a copy.
This song is a pure masterpiece. Lyrics are brilliants and the performance of the band is quite awesome! I wish they will make another album like Marbles, one of these days.
Marillion creates atmospheres like no other band. The whole middle section of this piece builds just about as perfectly as possible and Steve Hogarth puts more emotion into his vocals than pretty much any other singer out there. Freaking amazing band. Totally badass.
why wait for the end I do it through the whole 9 mins. LOL I saw them do this in Boston at a small club and was about 5 feet in front of H my god We also got to meet them after the show and after that my buddy and I sat in the bar in the next room and drank beers with Rothers for about 2 hours. What great people
Wow... I was introduced to Marillion in/around 1985 when I saw them open for Rush. I didn't know who they were at the time, but was blown away by their performance of Misplaced Chilhood in its entirety... I was a big fan in the 80's, but have NEVER heard any of thier work without Fish until right now... now I'm sorry I missed out on so much of their work in the last 18 years.
this is the best and more complex song of marillion from this strange engine and of all their history , emotional, progresive ,dark masterpiece progresive , the best especially the end , and ocean cloud other masterpiece of 17 minutes .
Stevie Boy's Marillion had become for me the one and only formula of life and I'm afraid nothing even nobody is not able to change it at all. Listenning these men serves as a faithfull insight into our soul. The H's "existence" has an unmeasurable value for my life and we can't talk here about music in general, especialy regarding this song where lyrics reflect as an answer on question: Why does we live here on Earth?....
possibly my favourite Marillion song

This is in their top ten best, without a doubt.

Lift a hand to stop him
I don't exist
What can I do
What can I do?!"
Gives me shivers... especially the way h is performing this part.

Saw this live for the first time in November 2008, London.
Bloody hell, it was brilliant. The whole place erupted afterwards.
Dark, complex, moving prog-rock at its zenith.
