I think I prefer the artwork for the Canadian Blu-Ray of Drive (don`t get me started on the unfortunate, degrading, dumbed-down tagline though). And I would love to see you review the Future Shop exclusive of Drive as it looks amazing! But I imagine its near impossible to get your hands on one now.
I am dying to pick up the TNG blu ray sampler! As a fellow film buff I gotta say you really know your stuff! I just recently subbed & today I've spent the last half hour catching up on your videos! Truly awesome channel!
I love "The Thing (2011)". It was awesome especially when the 2 heads join. The best thing about it is making you believe the thing is a person and then the people you would have never guessed by the way they were acting it was them.
I know you probably get asked this all the time, but how do you get these movies early and do you still have to pay for them? I wish I could get some of these movies early. I usually have to wait quite some time to get most of my movies.
@CoreyReviews The channel functions just as any other Blu Ray review site, so I get titles from the studios to review. Nope, don't have to pay for them, just have to review/unbox/showcase them. Glad you like the content my friend!
Great video! Going to pick up Drive for sure. I saw it 3 times in theaters and could watch it over and over again. Ive never seen Cold Mountain, probably wont pick it up. But I will need to check it out in the future.
@MrBeJeCa95 Thanks man! So glad you love "Drive" as much as I do, has a very high "rewatch" factor I agree. Cold Mountain is a fine film, very well done imo. :)
@MrCemeteryman Thanks man! Definitely recommend all of those titles! Haha my wife loves "Cold Mountain" too, something about love & war that is just so compelling! :)
Great video!! Malcom X Digibook looks cooI. I love Digibooks but I don't have any yet because they' don't sell it here in Portugal, and buying online is too expensive!! In Time story sounds interesting. I liked Dream House and I love Japanese cinema and anime :) Never heard of The Whistleblower, I'll check it out and Drive too, of course!!!
@WonderBooks Great to hear from you WonderBooks! So many great titles coming out this week! That's a bummer that Portugal doesn't get digibooks! Have a great week. :)
Awesome video, Pete, very informative and hilarious! I have to agree about Japanese cinema, they really make some great stuff and I'm also huge on anime from there. I mean, they have Godzilla, Dragon Ball Z, Death Note and so on there, just amazing stuff. Drive, I haven't seen, but I'm hoping to win the steelbook from hugzi's contest. =d
@TylerPreston20 Thanks Tyler!! I'm currently fascinated with Cinema Japan, I guess I'll call it that now, haha. I always loved Kurosawa's work, but I never really explored beyond him, now I'm researching all kinds of good stuff! That "Drive" steelbook looks incredible, hope you win my friend! :)
First off, these blu ray release recaps are always awesome. Second, I know that I told you this before, but thanks for being a cool and genuine dude. Its nice seeing real people still exist on here. Thirdly, thanks for the awesome shout out and this video is now on we live film .com for all the world to see. Thanks again and keep up the awesome work!
@MovieManMenzel You're the best Menzel, thank you so much! Really feels good to hear such kind words! Feel the same way about you man, very genuine and such great content! That's awesome, thanks for putting it on the site my friend! :)
Awesomeo video as usual. Cant wait to own Drive. Definately one of my favourites of 2011. Will also be picking up 50/50. Haven't seen it yet but I know I will love it based off the unanimous praise it has been getting and I love JGL and Seth Rogen.
@JokerTheNoNameGamer Doesn't look like there will be a BB steelbook unfortunately, that would have been AWESOME! There is a French steelbook available right now though.
Drive among my top 5 of the year...felt like a great 80's film which I need more of, but I haven't seen half of the nominated best picture films yet...other note Echo Bridge does does crap transfers i.e. Dead Man....I'm with you on English Patient, I didn't care for it as a teen but now I think its a solid film...also Sayid from Lost is in the film watch noticed when I started watching it years later...lol those Lost actors can't get away from plane crashes.
@BtownZombies So glad you felt the same about "Drive." Echo Bridge has gotten better at their transfers, though they started out really bad. From what I hear, all releases from now on will be in their original aspect ratios (I know, but it's a start lol). Haha that's right Sayid's in that. :)
@FilmFanPete are you getting the to kill a mockingbird limited edition? I am I have been waiting for this blu ray since i got a blu ray player lol. resent sub but I have managed to just about watch all your videos in a week haha
@TKIRB53 Hey that's awesome! Welcome to the channel, glad you subscribed. I will be picking up "Mockingbird" on Tuesday for sure, in the commemorative digibook edition. Love that film. :)
Haven't seen Drive, but I loove that cover art! I'll be picking that and 50/50 (haven't seen that either) up in a few days (very excited!). I also LOVE To Kill a Mockingbird. I first saw that film when I was about 10 (my mom bought the VHS), and it was almost like a coming-of-age experience. Gregory Peck is fantastic in it, as are the kids, and I'm very tough on kid actors, lol. And I completely agree with you about In Time.
@CinematicGalaxy Thanks for your thoughts man, always enjoy hearing from you! So glad to have a fellow "Mockingbird" fan here, absolutely agree, it's just a classic American film. I've seen it many times and I'm sure I'll watch it twice this coming week just for the fun of it, haha. :)
@bluraymex23 LOL, must be! I can see them at their cpu right now, "I HATE THIS GUY AND I HATE ALL OF THESE MOVIES...AHHHH." That thumbs down must have made their night. It's ok, lol, it doesn't bother me. Watch, by the end of the week I will have at least 9 more. It happens every time. lol. :)
@FilmFanPete Don't worry Pete, its just YouTube trolls or really miserable people who hate happiness. Everybody else loves the vids and reviews. Its how us film lovers do it!
@trepacer Thank you man! Really glad to hear you liked "The Thing" prequel, I'm watching it tonight and going into it with a positive attitude and hoping it's even 1/2 as good as the '82 version, I'll be happy! And yes, haha, "Drive" was absolutely robbed. That snub will go down in history as a HUGE oversight. :)
@igotcha77 So glad so many people agree. To me it's kind of like a new-age "Pulp Fiction." Just incredibly original and a movie I will not soon forget.
@Sleek71986 Totally! I have no idea how a film like "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" could get nominated OVER "Drive." Heck I would have substituted about 4 of the nominees for that film. :)
@Radiohead17321 THAT was the one I was thinking of!! Haha, thanks for reminding me. Yeah that to me just wasn't right, though I thought "The English Patient" was a beautiful film, "Fargo" is a masterpiece. :)
The Thing prequel was actually really good and they do use CGI but there are some practical effects as well. It's a very entertaining movie with genuine scares, good performances, and some really cool gory transformations.
@InsaneBurger Glad to hear that!! I really hope I like it, the '82 original is such an amazing Horror/ Sci-Fi movie, and I'm totally going into the prequel with a positive attitude. I thought the trailers looked great! :)
@wrigterr737373 Thanks so much man! "In Time" may grow on me, I felt that it just started off SO good, but just didn't live up to it's great premise. "Drive" is amazing!! :)
Drive is a definite pick up for me. Great video man! You said that Malcolm X comes out on Tuesday but I saw it at my local Best Buy yesterday lol. Guess they messed up and put it out early.
@TomVeliotis Thanks Tom!! So glad you liked "Drive" as much as I did, I've watched it twice since I got it, just can't get enough. That's funny about "Malcolm X", I think they can get in some trouble for that lol. :)
screw getting tranformers on 3d i hate when they double dip like that.No extras when it first came out cause they want u to spend more money for the 3d release screw that
@elkornu8 While I hear what you're saying, double-dipping on releases has been going on since the VHS days, it's just always going to happen, like it or not. I feel like at least they included the 10.00 off coupon in the first release for this one, as they wanted to make it really special and take their time with the loads of special features. :)
@FilmFanPete yes i know they been double dipping on movies forever now but its way too soon in my opinion to have a second release of a movie that wasnt even that good
@genekelly101 Absolutely, I actually had to cut out several "smaller" titles from this video because I just thought it was long enough already lol. There's a few titles coming from Image Entertainment (like "Adaptation") as well. Thanks my friend! :)
@FilmFanPete - no worries dude, its your video. Do as you wish!!. I kinda stopped doing weekly releases, Im doing just the kick ass editions releases or a movie that is popular. lol
