It might be partly because I LOVE the Beatles AND I play Cello, but this was incredible!

I've been playing the guitar (classical and electric) for a few years and I learnt by myself. Now it seems kind of easy, but of course I can't really play like a real pro. I wanted to learn cello, so I went to a teacher a month ago. IT'S HARD!!!Guitar helped me in theory, but I think you need to go to a teacher, you can't learn by yourself. Some instruments are more classical, and you can't just go jammin'...

If you're really good at music theory and can read the bass clef than learning the cello is simple. I've been playing it for four years now and I am bored to deaf in orchestra class because for me everything is review. I would say it would be harder to teach yourself to play the cello than the guitar. The cello is an instrument you'll be better at learning from someone else.

Finally a string arrangement of a pop song that actually plays to the strengths of the instruments involved rather than trying too hard to accurately immitate the original recording. This is a beautiful, warm performance. Pity the recording quality isn't slightly better.

I wouldn't say so. I learned the Violin and then switched to Bass, and that wasn't hard. I doubt the Cello would've been that much harder. Are you looking to switch? I highly suggest you do.

I personally think violin to cello is harder because violin and bass are hardly similar at all, just because of the size, so you don't get confused, whereas violin to cello I got confused about vibrato and bow hold. When I did both it was really confusing because on violin if the teacher says change something, they mean a little, but on cello the teacher means to change a lot. So my cello teacher thought I was being timid and my violin teacher thought I was a smart aleck.

haha... well... i'm trying both violin and cello now... but my teachers know each other and are aware i'm learning both. i have no problems so far, but i've been taking classes for only 2 months.

I played violin until i was 9 and started cello when i was 6. it was hard at first because i had some bad habits like holding the cello bow the way you hold it for violin. also the vibrato is completely different so you have to be careful. now i'm going to college for cello. my brother has played violin all his life and picked up cello in college, and he's ok at it. not great, but ok. (he doesn't practice much though lol) it's a little challenging but definitely possible and rewarding.
