@GuitarKingPlayer1996 It's a guitar recital, so it's possible that his guitar teacher told him he was required to play it on a clean setting. I agree it doesn't sound entirely right, but it's also still very good for a clean setting and still not messing up that much. But like I said, that's probably the reason, like, I was learning to play Eruption, and my guitar teacher made me play it on clean when I showed it to him. some guitar teachers just require that of you.

To that one guy who said drop c tuning is shit, we all have our different perspectives of listening to music. I dont listen to 'kill me now all i do is scream' music but i do listen to some hard rock/ metal. And Eric Johnsonis a vey good guitarist and so is this kid. You play this song very well for someone who appears to be very young. The recording quality isn't optimal and I suspect its part of the issue. Less reverb and more distortion would likely help improve the sound. By no means should you quit playing, you have skill; however, altering your effects will improve your sound for Cliffs and I suspect as you age you'll play it with more feeling which was bit lacking in this video. Your great for your age keep at it!

dude for the best tone out of any strat, you wanna switch it to the treble pickup. thats what johnson does for his tone. and jeff beck. and those guys are probly the two best at getting incredible tone out of strats so you should def try it. its also an excellent idea on any stock strat because the pickups on them are not exactly great...

Thanks for all the great comments! I've read a bunch of the criticisms over the years and really appreciate some of the tips, except the ones telling me to quit playing. :P To answer a few questions that were reoccurring over time... - There definitely is a lot of reverb. My amp was set to near minimum on reverb, but the church I was in was extremely large. This was the performance where I learned about natural reverb in large spaces. :P

- There actually is a distortion petal on during the entire performance, but when I started playing I was too nervous to stop and adjust the petal to add more gain, so I ended up with that "Hawaiian sound" that some of you call it.

- Yes, I had Beatles hair. I needed a haircut badly.

- I was never really good at nailing the intro, and the place was about 55* inside and my fingers were numb. That's why the intro's messy.

- The amp is a Peavey Classic 50 212. I absolutely love it!

Here's some advice: You've got to use the *red* Dunlop Jazz III picks. They sound better than the black ones! It's true! There's now a special EJ version of the pick available. Notice that it only comes in red.
