  • Are you Cris Rock's long lost brother? Or him in disguise?

The face, the voice, the way you talk, it all seems so similar. 0_o

  • (continuing form last post) another point that I just want to bring up, and hopefully know your opinion, is that alot (sorry that I do not have any stats) of gun control activists, or I should say gun banning activists, seem to be persecuting the wrong people for gun crimes. what I mean is that a good portion of them, if not all of them, seem to be going after the law-abiding gun owner instead of the street thug /gang member who is either underaged or simply obtained gun through smuggling

  • @XLnotsofunny To sum up my opinion on gun ownership: I do think that the laws written right now DO effect the wrong people. Criminals are considered just that because they break laws. If you make a law saying people shouldn't have handguns in a certain spot, why would criminals suddenly decide to follow THIS law, even though they're breaking other ones? It's an illogical concept.

  • @Swordsage i personally think that liberals today are as superficial as conservatives. for example, you have conservatives who always seem to be claiming that they are trying to protect the "american" way of life and so on by going after homosexuals. on the other hand, liberals try to make it seem like they are working "for the people"by actually harming them by suppoting gun control/banning and blindly blaming teachers for the failings of indviduals who are too lazy to study hard

  • @Swordsage and speaking of education, i thnk that the main problem that is plaguing the countries education is not a bunch of dumb druggies or defective teachers. it is about how inefficient the system makes it for the student. what I mean is that I think that we should, from grade school to college, cut out all those extracurricular material and biased social science and calculus, and shakespeare writs from the requirements section and move them into the optional/major requirements section

  • @Swordsage and speaking colleges and universities, I think that the notion of required"general education" courses should not even exists. and there shouldn't be a minimum or maximum unit requirement that the student must fulfill in order to graduatte. all this is just my personal opinion. students should just declare a major and automatically be given a hardcopy or electronic list of the courses the major/degree itself actually needs. this will save time and many appointments with advisors

  • @Swordsage and, on the more prioritized side, it will save money in sch a profound way that this country will not be slipping on itself as it is now

  • (continuing my previuos comment) what mean is that I think that the majority of governments, armed forces, national guards, militias, and police forces, if even darker all, are not there to protect and serve its citizens and put down criminals but rather to silently oppress the peoplej. to be more clear, i just believe that every human being deserves the right to own firearms for his or her own defense aganist criminals and not to sound too dark, sometimes even against his or her own government

  • I totally agree with you (swordsage) on the point that we are hypocritical in the sense that we tend to preach peace and love but end up doing the opposite. But, I was just wonderng if you would agree that not all private legal gun owners are immature people that fantasize all day about hurting and butchering people. I mean I believe that the actual majority of liscenced gun owners not just in america but around the world have good reason to own firearms in the name of self-defense

  • i do not think that homosexuality is really a so-called "sin". From how I see it, there's got to be some natural and biology-psychological basis to homosexuality in certain humans. I think it is kind of like genetic variation in a psychological genepool. I mean, there is got to be a natural or legitimate reason why people have been practicing sodomy and homosexuality for milleniums or I should say probably since the beginning of human socirty. Pardon me if you think comment is off subject

  • Sex on a muslim country = Decapitation

  • These are the same people who base their lives on a book that contradicts itself

  • Americans are just stupid... there's your answer HAHAHAAH

  • there is nothing great about being mature, it doesnt matter if your immature or mature

  • By your standards, the only place on earth that is mature when it comes to sex is probably Western Europe.

Everyone else is either just like America if not MORE repressed (try talking about Sex in a Muslim country).

And before we praise Europe's maturity too much....they were slaughtering minorities and waging war to the tune of 40 million dead only 60-70 years ago.

The social maturity that we see in Europe today is a VERY recent development.

  • It's definitely true what you say, all of it. I'\m not trying to hold Europe up to a pedestal... I know all too well how much crap they've started in the past, and maybe what we're seeing is them trying to brush it aside, or maybe start to evolve from that culturally, who knows? Still, it doesn't mean the rest of the world shouldn't follow suit. But even Europe has a long way to go towards humane treatment among all humans... we all have a long way to go.

  • I'd say Europe's current enlightenment on so many fronts is the product of horrors of WWII. After seeing their continent shattered from war, dictatorship and racism Europe shifted dramatically in the other direction. It could possibly shift back the other way in the future.

Frankly, the US has done pretty well for itself all things considered. Racism in the US has been bad, but not in the same league as the racial/ethnic hatred in many other places.

  • There is indeed racial tensions in America (and here in Canada) but compared to most ethnically diverse places we're as equal and peaceful as it gets.

Ethnically-diverse nations include Sudan, Bosnia, Lebanon, Iraq, Israel/Palestine, Burma, China, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Georgia, Turkey - all have seen horrible violence.

Even in Europe, Islamic radicalism and European national parties are rising fast (I predict open conflict in 20-30 years).

We have a lot to be proud of in North America.

  • Swordsage,

trust me bro - the whole WORLD is immature.

The men of most cultures are children - they want a servile woman to look after them, cook food, raise kids and STFU. Afghan culture has been around for thousands of years and the men there are by no means "grown up." They're as childish and insecure as any 13 year old.

The mature and intelligent are a minority in most cultures.

  • People act like children in this country because as children that is how they are treated. You can't treat a kid like that and then expect them to grown up and mature while constantly being treated like a child until they are 18.

  • It isn't normal for a teenager to be all guns, violence and "ooooh sex" (don't look at my profile pic haha) The problem is that is how the adults do it, and how they do it with the kids, and most kids emulate the adults in their life, and do the same.

  • The American population as a whole isn't necessarily 'immature' because they have made themselves that way. I'm quite sure there are some sly (and powerful) people who would have them kept that way so as they continue to not ask questions. Like why a large portion of American tax money goes to what would seem like completely non-American related ventures. Good example is Israel.

  • Sorry to break it to you, my friend, but the rest of the world is pretty much the same, although in the US the immaturity seems to be even more rampant.

Except for sex. In that area Americans truly are fucking kindergarteners.

  • American culture is by no means special in its adolescencent nature. 1/6th of the british population read "The Sun" regularly. Seriously, go to their website and try to tell me other nations don't have a serious problem with cultural immaturity.

  • Adolescent, even.

  • You nailed it again! Seems that being smart and emotionally stable are seen as bad things by American culture at large.

You and I have spoken on this before, but it bears repeating. In our schools, "Brain", "Nerd", "Bookworm", and similar epithets ARE epithets! It is considered and INSULT to call someone intelligent.

But Jock? That's quite alright. AND IT SHOULD BE! Different people have different talents, and we do not need to be at each other's throats because of it.

  • Once again, it is good to hear from you man. :)

  • I've been watching, just haven't had a lot of time :P I'm setting up a new camera as I type, and hopefully will be making some new videos. got a lot going on right now, but it should slow down some in the next few weeks.

I also set up an account at filmrookie. Looks very interesting.

  • I know a lot of intellectuals who are emotionally retarded. Praising intellect is fine just the same as praising a well defined physic. Both take lots of exercise - and both tend to lead towards infantile egoic construction and fortification . For me the most attractive individuals are those who have - with the assistance of a little self insight - cultivated healthy open minds and hearts - those of us who know what and when to let go of while living intimately with what remains BTW Nice vid

  • I'm sure after 1000 years into the future America's going to look back and laugh (or regret) at how ridiculous we were, just like an adult when they look back and see how they got from point A to B.

Sorry it took so long, but just wanted to get my point across.

    thanks.

  • I agree with your premise, but that's not a good reason to say "oh, we'll grow out of it" because this culture is ruled by even more adolescent fools who have Nuclear weapons.

While one might be indulgent to a certain extent with a child, you also don't let them play with the big guns.

If the grand experiment begun in the eighteenth century is to ever bear fruit, we need to RIGHT NOW start learning to be adults.

  • Diddo on that.

I wouldn't want my kid running around with a knife or gun to show off to his/her friends. BAD PARENTING.

I'm guessing the rest of the educated world would have to be the parents and "ground" America for a bit.

And I guess America is probably also going through it's own Dark Age and we're waiting for a Renaissance to happen.

  • I see your point, and most of which is valid. But I do have a rebuttal for it and correct me if I'm wrong:

The United States of America has only been a country for 200+ years, compared to other nations such as China around and most European Countries, it's still very young and it needs time to grow up. America's like a child at show&tell, what the child shows may look absolutely ridiculous in the Adults' eyes but to him whatever it is, is their pride and joy

    (con...)

  • please shut your gay Chris Rock wannabe monkey ass up.

  • Thanks for the erudite commentary.

  • Some good truths

  • 2:00 A co-worker's response"If it ain't broke, don't fix it". *facepalm* 3:00 I hear of "family values" during pleas or declarations of superiority, including by "foreigners". 3:47 Yep. 4:13 Many never left highschool. Watch tv. 5:11 Whose standards? 5:26 I know several and they're shallow. 6 - 8 Violence on the news?Yes! Violence in games / movies? The children! Selling with sex? Yes! Sex? The children! 8:42 But they will. 9:00 What would Gods do? 10:16 Quite the opposite. Fin For the goodies!
  • You're so right. I brought up a story the other day about sexual stuff to my broader crowd of friends and it got to the oooo stage. I mentioned why people are shy talking about this benighn stuff. Stuff we all do every single day (most of us). I'm not talking about personal and contraversial topics. Reall mild and benign stuff. It made me realise the very thing you are speaking about.

  • Good video mate, well spoken and the tunes in the background were nice on the ears too.

  • Amazing. Truly enlightening video. Great argument and very very true. Favorite and new subscriber for sure.

  • luved your video! i subscribed to your channel

  • My opinion of what would be the most sustainable family/community structure, is outlined in the Pern book series, by Anne McCaffrey. Recommended reading. The reason I see this as a functionally balanced ideal is that stewardship is integral with the basic education and morality. I'm glad you brought up this insanity, that our false economy is partially modeled on, because restructuring economics at the same time as the family, is key to solutions for the over population problem.

  • Grown up!?!?

    We've on average regressed!

Due to our continuing to allow oral indoctrination, to replace education.

  • ah... ok. you're basically a black me with dreadlocks then.

  • yeah dude america is totally ass-backwards. is the camera lens scratched or is that just all the potsmoke in your room? this is no insult man its just that you seem slightly disjointed in your train of thought... kind of how i am all the time. BTW america doesn't have that many intellectuals.

  • *chuckles* nah, I don't smoke pot, but I do admit that my thoughts do get ahead of my mouth at times. Sometimes I suspect that I'm slightly dyslexic, because of how I sometimes say things in an odd sort of way, or mix up certain phrases.

  • I notice never the words of your up mix.

Normal all seems me it perfectly to.

Critical your of shouldn't self so be you.

Joke fuck them can't if they take a.

  • you need a new mic, but other than that. this video is refreshing. thanks for the vid. gonna feature it on my channel.

  • Let's move this to PM, or some form of chat.

  • I have to one guy and he responded, " I don't plan on moving." He also said he would infibulate girls if it was popular. This guy was the most hardcore atheist I've seen strangely enough.

  • Usually something like, "I/my husband is circumcised and there's nothing wrong with me/him," or he'll feel left out when everyone else had it done(they don't.)

The health reasons are only rarely mentioned and if anyone used those reasons for any other amputation they'd be considered child abusers.

  • And don't forget that equality is only to be applied to those who are equal to us. How about "all men are created equal" then rationalizing about some races not being human. War on drugs, but not cigarrettes and alcohol. And "Governments are instituted among men to secure those rights", but violate the rights of those they are not among, such as other countries. Yeah, it's a pretty infantile culture. Great work Swordsage.

  • Great video man, these things are obvious, how ever people forget them as soon as possible. People think they need to look, think, and act, in the way OTHERS consider alright, but they are not happy with themselfs, and they always want this and that but can'r be happy with what they've got. This problem is not just american...it happens everywhere really. great video as I said.

    cheers

  • Conservatives think that Jesus was pro-torture, pro-war, and pro-ignorance. That's the extent of their values in America. They can ignore the moral attitude of their messiah and justify the most intolerable acts.

  • America is at the Empire stage right now, and has been since about WW2. Hopefully once we decline as a nation, we'll settle down and start focusing on taking care of ourselves rather than enriching the top. I want to see another bloody revolution, to be honest.

  • Where are you talking? Where are these meetings? Jeez.

  • Don't worry, I'll let you know. I would love to have you in one of them

  • uh, thanks, I'm flattered.

  • Nice job...just subscribed to your channel. Love it. keep it up...

  • Well said.

    5'd and added to favourites!

  • this country's looking at us cross eyed, BOMB THEM... hehe

  • you forget that the *grown up* european countrys are now being fucked in the ass by immigrants of *immature* countries.

being grown up and liberal as a country contains a weakness, wich is shamelessly exploited by more primitive immigrants

  • It's not a weakness to want to come up with solutions that will make all involved comfortable, instead of simply saying "Fuck you you immigrants!!" But I also agree that one shouldn't let other people take advantage of you. I would never say it's an adult thing to have that happen to you.

Also (though I should have made this clear), I don't think Europe is the paragon of maturity. But in several ways their show a higher level of mental maturity than we do. It's very apparent.

  • I have to come to the defence of this country. We have only been a country for 300 years or less than that. Not sure about the exact years. If any one relly cares you can look it up. Well considering this fact europing countries have been around thousands of years maybe like 2 thousand years or a bit more. Compare to the numbers it does not suprize me our culture is fool of immature adults. SO yes we do have longs way to go before we grow up. Also have you look at european histroy.lol

  • That is definitely true. But one thing you have to remember is that America was founded at a certain point in history where it and European cultures were basically at the same level mentally. Well, America was a bit higher because they had thrown off the concept of rule by divine right (ie, rule by the people, and not by kings). Now look where we are. We've fallen behind,

  • I wish I had a voice so I could do a response vid to this. What I can type here, though, is that Juliet's Schorr's book, Born To Shop, details how children are now being programmed by advertising to hate and fear the adult world. Why? Just because it moves fucking Pop Tarts.

Belief in fairy tales? Well, we are the most religious country in the world.

  • No.

Nothin', I just felt free to argue. :D

    Don't feel too aweful lonely

    about expression by text only.

  • im 18 and i talk about sex like its nothing big, i hate people who make a face like "omg perv.." -_-

  • tell em sage

  • I am so going to do a vid response to this.

  • Oh my lawd, I brought up "might makes right" last night whilst conversating over beers!!

  • I am a teenager myself, and I am very suprised at some of the people I meet. I could accidentally bump into someone at school, and they are fine with it. Yet if I did this with an adult on the street, I get yelled at. Then, I try to have an intellectual conversation, and most people, including adults, don't use their own opinions. They just say, "So and so said this," and "Someone said this on the internet." I find it hard to have these conversations with almost anyone in my town.

  • Welcome to the club. Now you must bear the burden of having a mind of your own. Have fun and try to keep things in perspective.

  • very well stated ac7933

  • It's sickening how few intellectuals there are in the states. If I mention anything about books or a love of reading/learning in front of many acquaintances they look at me as though I just told them I still wet my bed or something and I live up north where it's supposedly more progressive. If it's this bad here, I can only imagine what it's like living in the deep south.

  • it's not pretty trust me lol

  • I totally know what you mean by that statement. If I try to talk to my friends and family about books about history and policy . . "deep stuff", they wouldn't know how to respond. All they talk about is work, cars, entertainment, and the mainstream media news. That's why I like you tube so we can have deep discussions. XD

  • Thank you for pointing out that the what so called "American values" are upheld by uneducated children in an adult body. I will always despise politicians when it comes to fixing a simple problem. I hope I can live long enough to see the day when actual mature, professional people actually contribute to society in a positive way and actually fix the problem (no more patch work jobs).

  • ah that would be such a glorious day

  • You're thoughts on sex are on the mark.

I've tried to explain to full grown adults why they shouldn't circumcise infants and I get this "you're talking about penis lololololol you're a faggot," shit.

People talk about sex a lot here, but they don't say much.

  • A strange thing about this is the fact that the US is influencing other nations, making their cultures more and more American.

Kids in sweden (where i'm from) are spoonfed American pop-culture everyday.

This I think is making other nations become more adolescent, so not only is the American culture creating morons in the US, American culture is also creating immature morons all over the world.

I'm not saying the US is the root of all evil, but the US sure cause a lot of problems.

  • Oh I so agree with you. I consider myself a person of average intelligence, but other people my age regard me as a nerd. You can't imagine how stupid they are and the worse part is that if you are even slightly smarter than them (or even if you act, dress or listen different music than what's deemed normal) they call you a freak, faggot, moron etc. and they mock and harass you. 10 or 20 years ago this was not so in my country (then the government was the one doing the harassment).

  • I don't think that is an American thing, I think that is a human thing, and the opportunities that wealth provides makes humans want to get more wealth that they need. Also humans are perpetualy in conflict and conflict is the basic tribal mentality. Thus it is humans who, despite the complex language that we have and expanded cranial cavities and technology that we have, we, as a species are just primitive mammals no better than those in cages in zoological parks.

  • *****

I think a counter-culture is rising in America. Small but mighty. An intellectual revolution for lack of a better word, though I may be too optimistic. Scratch that... a "global" intellectual revolution. I think a major clash of new vs. old school is around the corner and it will take new school to show some physical toughness to allow for a world that does not depend on force. Brains AND brawn wrapped in restraint and humbleness. I can smell it in the air... sniff...sniff

  • This is the time of the recombinant paradigm metacognitive.

We have much of the world's history, culture and ideas at our fingertips to pick and chose "who" we will be, from. But our minds are often roadblocked by cultural quicksands. To have the ability to bypass these blunders, we have to be aware, of our awareness. We set habits to alert ourselves to tangents that pollute our visions for recombining projections for our mental maps. Many like the term singularitarian.

    watch?v=6hKG5l_TDU8

  • One must remember that our nation is still young yet. I do love America for what it can be in spite of its past, & for what my forefathers / foremothers went through for our progress. That all said I totally agree with you. I will say like most adolescents the USA is at crucial juncture that will set the tone for the rest of our future.

  • As much as I hate to admit it, you're right.

  • Five stars!

  • I can't disagree.

  • /hug

  • Heh. This is why George Clooney is handsome. He may not be the most physically beautiful (he's not bad, either) but he's classy without being highbrow. And that dude's how old now?!

Excellent points all around, sir. Once again, you've taken the words out of my mouth and humbled me. Cheers. *downs a Captain & Coke*

  • its our proto-culture, brought on by money and romance.

  • Question at 4:20: do you mean to say that it is bad to dream about being famous or loved by everyone, partially if you're willing to work for such goals? Sorry, that part kinda confused me.

  • No, I don't. But that shouldn't be something for a healthy adult to obsess over. Like, the person who just falls apart when they find out that someone may not like them, or the person who feels popularity is the most important thing to attain, far above anything else. This is something you expect with children, but not grown adults. Yet, this is a focus in much of American adult life.

I honestly don't think it's important to work be loved by everyone.

  • To add to that, if one is working towards those kinds of goals, WHY are they doing that? For the sake of the people who are going to love them, or their own desperate egos? I personally think it would be better to work towards a goal that would benefit more than just oneself, and if people end up loving you for it, so be it. Fame just because of who you are is pointless... look at Paris Hilton. :P

  • This paragraph is almost as great as this video.

  • agreed

  • A bit overexagerated I think.I'm not American so maybe I'm wrong,though.

    Still,you bring very good points.

I'm sure there's a lot of intelligent, mature people in the US,but they just don't stand out much or get any attention at all.

Those who know how to mix up their knowledge and wisdom with a sort of childish humor get noticed and are well understood though...It's kind of clever when you think about it.

  • Trying to get your average American to understand stuff like this is like trying to explain something complicated to a child;it's a lot easier if you throw in some jokes, and it helps keeping their attention.

It doesn't help either that religion constantly makes efforts to censor intelligence and critical inquiry...As long as they don't ask themselves too many questions, they'll stay loyal and won't realize they've been scammed.

I'm surprised this even still works in this day and age.

  • Now that I've thought about it,you may not have been exaggerating at all...

  • Yeah, I'm born, raised and living in Amerika and there's no exaggeration in this video.

  • *Chuckles* ;)

  • haha poor rpgguy, you still thought there was hope here....

  • Brilliant points, one of your best videos.

  • Great video

Is adolescent behaviour is culturally ingrained or a reflection of political preferences? I mean, there have been times where America has tried to make progress through consensus and debate rather than unilateralism. Does the God/Guns/USA the best etc mentality just a reflection post-Reagan/neo-con thinking?

Given that the US was formed to be a separation from Europe and land of the free, contribute to an individualistic mentality that plays into adolescent thinking?

  • Excellent points. You are right on the money!

    ~Calvin~

  • America has been compared to Rome in terms of an empire, but I think it's more like Greece in terms of the duration of it's cultural renaissance (it lasted about 60 years).

But yes, I've thought that too, Great points. America is an adolescent country, it's rampage Empire mentality is very teenage, it's two dimensional culture based upon fashion and ethnic cliques is juvenile. I think the worst part of it is the fact that no one reads books, and actually view people who do as idiots.

  • couldnt have said it better.

  • You made SO many awesome points in this video Swordsage.

But to be more specific, wouldn't you agree that the behavior you describe mostly reflects "tweenagers", the youngwe teenagers? Which is even worse than teenagers in general, imo.

And instead of tweens telling "your mom" jokes, it's America telling "your god" jokes.

  • I think you have a point there. Two points there actually. Though I remember my teenage years, and while many were mature, and definitely a bit more put together than tweens, there were a lot more that... well... I wouldn't call them brain trusts.

  • Thanks for replying.

I still have to go back and watch some of your old videos.

    You have great ideas.

    Peace.

  • ***** AND favorited!

  • Man, this is one your best videos yet! I absolutely love all that you do, but this one just hit the spot :) five stars and faved ;)

  • Velkommen to amerikkka!

  • culture is cult done successfully.

  • Excellent point! Infact, I think I'm going to steal this one. :)

  • go ahead, i dont believe in intellectual property.

  • This whole "Godgutsgunsglory" is got us in trouble in the first place. Instead of talking it out we just act like jackasses. I agree that we need to be more mature.

  • great video
