  • Yeah, but can it play Crisis?

  • So he built a rack case. Well done.

Note Oil & Gas + Military. This is a rack intended for Iraq. The same map contains the soldiers and the oil & gas. You see. There

  • for maximum processing switch to windows 2000

  • Oh look! my iphone has wheels it's portable!

  • so loud hahaha! imagine how hot it is in there

  • Very enjoyable thank you

  • @JustinsBasicTuts Probably over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!11!oneoneoneone11!!!one!1!!one!

  • Gpu computing > cpu computing

  • haha a single computer in 2011 is faster than this cluster from 2008 :D

  • @ZHAUSQ Nope it's absolutely not.

  • i like how this is only 3 years old but you can already get about the half power in a laptop for 3 grand

imagine how far tech will be in another 3 years

  • @MrNickp2300 no not really, this is nothing like a laptop.

  • @adamsb33 as far as power goes it is....at leasy by todays standards...maby a few years ago it was super computer but now its just a bulky portable computer...dont get me wrong its still powerfull but not as power by todays standards

  • ooo somebody use my chassis for this system :) AIC 3U16 RSC-3ED + Seagate drives

  • @uhudmen PORTABLE MEANS IT CAN MOVE PERIOD NOT IN YOUR POCKET DONT BE A NARROW-MINDED FOOL

  • Thats not portable.

  • If you actually installed some graphic cards and ran either cuda or stream (nVidia and AMD respectively) then you could probably get some more power out of it. Most GPUs nowadays are also starting to be used for general purpose computing. Most GPUs can produce more Flops than CPUs, so as in computing power the GPU would be better then having more cores, plus it would be more power efficient. And you could play games ;)

  • i Want to play minecraft on that XD

  • @mdofx

"First, I'm an Asian and we are.....genius..." at copyright infringement, industrial espionage and IP theft, yeah ;)

  • wow..I only have 3 pc's on my server. A total of only 7.45 ghz.

  • WILL IT BLEND!?!?!!

  • @mdofx I am as well for snapping.

  • @mdofx You have no idea what you're talking about, firstly I was joking around because the monitor and slim keyboard made it appear as if it were a laptop plugged into a server. Secondly not all Asians are Geniuses You can't even spell correctly. Finally, note later posts and replies from other people to find out what I was talking about instead of jumping all over me.

  • But can it run Counter Strike?

  • runing gta iv? :))

  • Im giong to get one just to play pac man on it.... :D

  • how high is your electricity bill o.O lol :P

  • its the laptop of supercomputers

  • This computer would make even online monopoly look epic >_>

  • does notepad run?

  • whats your fps in minesweeper? lol

  • That's portable ?

  • if you put some better wheels and tie it to your car you could probably have all the gps maps in a radius of 1000 km updated each second

  • Why Windows? This would be so much cooler if it was running Unix.

  • @itachisxeyes I don't think the "cool" factor is a major priority when building supercomputers. I build HPC clusters here in the UK and almost every client wants Windows HPC server over Linux. The performance is about the same but the price difference is unbelievable, the OS license on this system here would account for about 1/4 of the total price.

  • IN-DUS-TREES

  • what if you get a virus?

  • it looks like walee

  • crysis ooo please. cant you guys think of anything better. am thinking cracking WPA

  • fucking boring!!!!!

  • can u play crisis fuck the boring stuff

  • SICKKKK!

  • Can it support quake 2? :D

  • @Flashlight1996 It has no PCI video card

  • @0mfg57fu So its useless?

  • @Flashlight1996 Pretty much, if a PC can't game, there's no point in it existing.

  • @0mfg57fu i dont think it would play games very well, i am guessing theres no dedicated graphics card it will be basic onboard graphics i guess

  • @alistairstuart2009 I already said that.

  • @alistairstuart2009 my IQ just dropped by over 9000 points just by reading your comment...

  • @nokiaowner

    LOL

  • its still pretty big tho but stil pretty amazing

  • just throw in 2x5970's and lets play some games!

  • @splice247 i would not try to cross fire any ati radeon

  • That's the sad thing about engineers. They don't have moral reservations, they'll sell out like whores to whatever military killers has a checkbook. Since the atom bomb right on down to stealth weapons and high tech robotic killing machines. People ride IBM/Daomag for selling punch card machines to the Nazis, but this guy doesn't think twice today about selling to the US military thugs. Watch him when he talks about Lidar, he knows what they use it for. More effective killing machines.

  • I'm pretty sure that it wasn't made for gaming so it would have a good video card.

  • @andrei7311 Lol, even so the OS isn't compatible with it. It's not windows 7 or anything. Windows 7 is too slow for this computer. So, custom OS

  • @SulfurOxideify Thats bull! No need for custom OS. Windows 7 will work on that machine but not as cluster.

  • @nickboyz Windows NT or 2000 would probably work as a cluster

  • @Jcrexxor 2003, 2008, Linux Unix Novell etc

  • @nickboyz Ahh what do you suggest to use in a cluster?

  • @Jcrexxor Depends on business needs.

  • Yeah, that's JUST what the Military Industrial Complex needs, a "portable supercomputer" so they can fUk over humanity on the road!!

  • I could use one of those for FSX.

  • can you play games on that

  • Imagen playing crysis on that !

  • imagine learning how to spell !

  • @Utuber452 you're a silly billy

  • Building the cluster is the easy part. Finding or making programs use all the processors is the hard part. Can anyone tell me how to get Cain and Abel or John The Ripper to run on a cluster? I doubt it.

  • Whenever someone describes what a supercomputer can do, they don't have a great answer that we can understand.

  • I like how he says industries. :D

  • Comment removed

  • I´m getting one of these

  • my server has just 16 trades... :(

  • wow that thing is loud!

  • I was considering finally building a cluster like this.. then found out that GPU supercomputing (like using CUDA) seems like its the direction things are going these days. Kinda sad. I was looking forward to slowly building a whirring behemoth like this. If anyone knows an application where standard clusters would outperform GPU supercomputing, please let me know.

  • Actually upon further research I am going to build my supercomputer anyways. This would still be ideal for anyone wanting something to run regular forking processes through a Single System Image. ie. A computer that will automatically migrate regular processes around without any special custom programming.

  • How would you go about doing such a thing? Btw i heard someone made a supercomputer out of 6 PS3s

  • Cuda lokks cool but it does not support floating point processing. Only fixed point processing can be done on the GPUs. IDK. It probably depends on the build. However I think a traditional cluster would be more powerful then a GPU cluster.

  • 32 1mhz cpu's haha

  • COMPARTIMENTALIZATION is the key to rule the world. Specialized field intelligent A + Specialized field intelligent B + etc. Non really knows the big picture ... except for the funding individuals/organisations ...

  • I'd like to play crysis on that :)

  • 200,000 fps?

  • Its not designed for games nor are games designed to run on such hardware :P

  • but can you still play a game on it? and will it look awesome?! lol

  • Crysis needs GPU power alot more than CPU. They say it's quadcore supported but I can only fill 1.5 core with crysis. (40 to 60% load). :D

  • @Dreamingallyear No, it would actually run horribly.

  • its not made for games i dont think there is any godly Graphics card(s) is there

  • You can do SLI/CrossFire...

  • @Jknessmic It won't run Crysis :).

  • @Jknessmic crysis would play the same because i bet it doesnt have a very good GPU and also only one CPU can run crysis at the same time so if you want to run 32 copys of crysis your in luck

  • @dkandtsproductions I am guessing a game made to run on this machine that looked like crysis may run pretty good depending on what the computer it made to run in the first place.

  • @Jknessmic No you don't. Every game written to date doesn't support cluster computing. It would just see one out of possible thousands of nodes.

  • @Jknessmic

    how many TFLOPS?

  • @Jknessmic or learn what they really can do which is much more demanding I am sure :P Crysis commends just getting old I guess.... played out by now.

  • @Jknessmic Playing games? On a laptop? [asianvoice]You so crazy.[/asianvoice]

  • @XxLeurxX Laptop?

Hint:the supercomputer is the BOX!!!where do you think 32 cores are gonna fit!!!?

  • @kapapi141 Oh, It looked like a docking station for a laptop, where it would merge into the supersystem o:

  • @Jknessmic Actually, these supercopmuter's are meant for CPU power, not GPU power which Crysis and most games need a lot of. Meaning that unless it also has goooood Graphics Card/s then no since CPU's can not replace GPU's...

  • @Jknessmic prob wont be able to play on full. lol

  • maybe 32, 100ghz cores

  • Great for Lanparty's :D

  • just curious though,is it sucking a lot of juice...? electricity bills??

  • 2:00 - "We have some pretty low power usage here, as you can see the whole unit running on a 120 amp circuit"

Yup... it's about as green as it gets, only needs 14,000 watts!

  • Cool...

  • one 20 amp circuit as in "cingular twenty amp circuit"

  • man ,i just wish i could have one of those!!!1

  • today you can make this same thing in half the size but with 64 cpus and SAS drive for less power. If you want the same "size" it can be 128 cpus with infiniband already on the motherboard (SuperServer 6015-INFB).

  • quad xenon = what? 30GFLOPS 8x30 = 240GFLOPS.

Right now my 1.2TFLOP ATI HD4870 is folding protines whilst i surf the net, of course i could have gone for the 4870X2, but thats overkill.

With NVDIA CUDA and quad SLi you could say goodbye to your giant noisy expensive box!

  • Its quad "xeon" not xenon you idiot sonofhendrix

  • lmaoooooooo

  • but....can it run crysis?

  • he's running windows nt 6 specialized for clustering. With some modifications, it probably could since it IS windows.

  • nop, no video card

  • hey donald have u heard of a ps3?its a mini super computer,it dosent make that loud ass anoying sound, you can play games on it,crunch numbers the same as that shit. i really dont see why they dont replace those shit with a bunch of ps3's!its cheap almost to same power....

  • I'm going to have to buy a bigger backpack for that...

  • Christ. I was impressed with my puny little computer. I got my little 600watt PSU, 750GB internal hard drive, 3.73Ghz Dual core pentium D CPU, little DVD+RW drive... this thing makes my computer want to piss itself. One question though... LISTEN TO ALL THOSE FANS??? NO LIQUID COOLING??? I MEAN CUMMON!!!

  • Microsoft??????

Why not a much better OS like Linux?

    Even NASA uses Fedora Linux.

  • Imagine how much air that blows? My computer already makes too much noise.

  • nice

  • adn if it was for gaming ^_^

  • I'm glad you liked my comment :)

  • Nice, though the noise is kinda annoying...

  • 100 processors,400cores,4.0ghz each,100 9800gx2's,500Ram memory,i think that can play crysis pretty smooth!

  • it sounds like a vacuum cleaner

  • How much dose one of those cost?

  • "supercomputer" really aren't that much compared to the 90's when i worked for dell and supported the accouting computer (superconfuser).

    Everything he described

    Cisco Infinibad - $9000.00

    CPUS - $5000.00 x 4 = $20,000

    M$ Computer Cluster server = $5000.00

    storage = $300 * 16

    switch = $1500.00

    UPS = $1000.00

    Install = $5000.00

  • But can it play crisis on max settings?

  • Good question!

  • probably like $9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

  • I hope your all kiding... Greater processing power wont make gaming any better after, maybe a 3GHz Quad core. A newer video card might.

  • COOL

  • yehhh thats what im thinking.

imagine how many aliens i could kill in supreme commander!!

  • wow a 32 core this could handle like a million barrel explosion in crysis lol

  • 8800gtx and ultra cards have 128 stream procs to handle that stuff. Maybe a better AI and better physics, but leave shading and particle effects to the GPU ^_^

  • "Give me..." "show me..." doesn't the interviewer have any manners?

  • I bet it costs a fortune and its not even watercooled I think, SO NOISY! Also I think desktops/servers are degrading more and more silly notebooks are getting more attention to make more modern.

  • I want to play Quake on this.

  • I want to play wow on this

  • it's used more for simulations. I actually don't think it would play wow very well at all.

  • very wild you can plug it in to a normal 120 volt house plug ,thats incredible.
