I am completely enthralled in the world of Skyrim every time I play it. I just love being immersed in a world that is full of fantasy yet feels so realistic though. I feel that all three of my characters are an extension of my if not each a different life. I have now played in total of an estimated 100 hours (stat found through save files) and I still find different stuff everyday.
I have Oblivion and Skyrim for my 360 and love both of them.
I also like doing the achievements for both Oblivion and Skyrim.
I agree it is a game to play for sure.
At first I was annoyed at talking to people and getting a quest as it seems every one you talk to has a quest but I don't mind that any more and use the quests to level myself up.

@SatchelKleyn The first piece of DLC is already out. Check Steam it does not include content. They said there plans are not to expand, but to get bugs worked out and make it look better. It be a while before an content for skyrim will be out. They think it is big enough.

As of right now I will say that for me Skyrim isn't anywhere near as enjoyable now as Oblivion was when I first played that (4 years ago). Nevertheless I am definitely enjoying Skyrim and it's a terrific experience in its own right.
I've never played any of the other Elder Scrolls games before, but I just had to get Skyrim. It seemed so awesome from the trailers, but I was wrong. It was godlike. I can't even begin to describe how much I love the game, so I'll just settle with stating that I've invested 250+ hours in it so far.
@VisualReplay I have an great spec pc, but decided to get this for the xbox... for how long i will be playing it, the sofa and a hugh tv was the best option.
You play like me, I'm now 70 hours in and I have still a city or two I haven't visited also I haven't done the main story quest yet. Playing it little by litte, when you happen to reach the main quest location makes it feel so much more EPIC and the level of immersion is vast! I've swept the map for hidden caves and dungeons and had good time doing so, without any quicktravelling also. Skyrim is also great because it cant throw big curveballs to make your journey more surprising ;)
Skyrim is awesome, and probably the best openworld games ever. Just like fallout3 but they managed to make it even better. The few things it lacks are a good inventory system on pc (too simplified to use by console controllers perhaps ?) and ugly graphics at some distance and some textures viewed near, but at medium ranges it looks pretty/fotorealistic or even better than real life. (i play bf3 on high graphics).
To sum up: IMO on par with Mass Effect1 & KotoR. And has some same problems too.
i played Bethesda rpgs like oblivion, fallout 3 and fallout new vegas and i didn't really enjoy them.I was looking at the reviews for skyrim and noticed that the level system was different (like how you don't need a certain amount of speech or alchemy ect) because in oblivion and fallout i found that everything relied on your level and traits, but in skyrim its completely different.so i bought it, and its probably the best video game i ever bought! Eh, while I love the TES series, they've all gotten progressively worse since Morrowind. Morrowind was by far the most expansive, most unique game. Countless NPCs, massive amount of weapons,...Then Oblivion comes, an extremely good game, but to my surprise, no tantos, no spears,..I was confused at first, but the game was still five-star easily. Then Skyrim,...Pretty much everything in this game is generic to me. Go to x location and get x item, same spinning icon puzzles,..Big step backwards.
skyrim is nuuts i played my ps3 till its death, literally. Two Dragons were attacking me at the same time some guard from white run i believe asked be to pay the bounty or go to jail for the crimes i committed. All this action caused my old fat 80g to over heat and crash and i got the Yellow light of death... funny thing is I still love the game. The only 2 things I didn't like about Skyrim is no arena, and the Jarls strongholds are tiny compared to the castles in Oblivion. I loved sneaking around the restricted areas on Oblivions castles going thru the queens jewlery box... great times. Other then that I feel Skyrim is superior in every way.

The First Dungeons are PERFECT! the problem is that they still don't keep the quality of level design, and everything start to feel repetitive. I also think that the game as a serious lack of diversity. Of course they have to stick to the country where the action takes place, but I mean, in morrowind, EACH cities where pretty UNIC and all memorable, such as Vivec or Sadrith Mora. I loved Skyrim btw

I've been playing for ages and still havent seen 5 of the cities, its crazy.. The dungeons are huge - I think it is certainly one of the best games ever, possibly the best. I'll be really happy if future dlc expands it even more, adds more quests etc. Its vast though.
I just could get into Oblivion for the life of me, I put over 8 hours into it and just didn't have fun. The first 10 minutes of Skyrim were nothing but pure awe, after that I explored killed some things and then returned to the main quest. I REALLY love Skyrim, don't really care about Oblivion. This is my first Elder Scrolls game, but I do have nearly 500 hours invested in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. So far, this game is easily in my top 3 favorite games of all time. I'm almost 40 hours in as a Nord and I have also just finished speaking with the Greybeards. All I can say is: Skyrim is insanely amazing! :D.
Holy crap I got sucked into Skyrim. 148 hours and I've barely touched the main storyline. I have never spent so much time on one video game. Especially in just 3 weeks.
I'm so glad to see that someone else appreciates how massive the game is! I managed to rack up about 120 hours in all since the weekend it came out. I play with one character, an Imperial BattleMage whom I can also switch to stealth if needed. I only did the main civil war quests and didn't even begin with the main quest involving the dragons. So so glad you're enjoying it and hope you continue to enjoy it Pete!
Fallout 3 was better in my opinion. I just prefer the whole postapocalyptic wasteland scenario, it felt so refreshing when it first came out. Also, Skyrim's combat kinda sucks which especially shows when you played Dark Souls before.
I have thought of a strategy for this game from watching this video: go into every area/dungeon at level 1 (or some low level) to lock all the monsters to a low level so they're easy to beat.

would you recommend playing oblivion first, if so which one should I get: the GOTY edition or the 5th anniversary version? do they both include the dlc?
So far I've been in it for 130+ hours. At first I was thrown off by the controls, but now I'm level 38 and crushing everything under my Dragonplate boots.
When I got a bit bored, I started a quest that dragged me underground to Blackreach, and nearly shat myself. I suggest you see it for yourself rather than look up a video, much more epic, but I digress.
Skyrim is a massive improvement upon Oblivion, in more ways than I can describe in a comment.

I just could get into Oblivion for the life of me, I put over 8 hours into it and just didn't have fun. The first 10 minutes of Skyrim were nothing but pure awe, after that I explored killed some things and then returned to the main quest. I REALLY love Skyrim, don't really care about Oblivion. They just seem like polar opposites, but that's just my opinion.

One thing you forgot to mention is that, even with all the different paths/skills you can play the game by, they are all useful, and havn't just been added in for the purpose of more content like many other developers have done. <3 skyrim

This is my first Elder Scrolls game, but I do have nearly 500 hours invested in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. So far, this game is easily in my top 3 favorite games of all time. I'm almost 40 hours in as a Nord and I have also just finished speaking with the Greybeards. All I can say is: Skyrim is insanely amazing! :D.

I'm so glad to see that someone else appreciates how massive the game is! I managed to rack up about 120 hours in all since the weekend it came out. I play with one character, an Imperial BattleMage whom I can also switch to stealth if needed. I only did the main civil war quests and didn't even begin with the main quest involving the dragons. So so glad you're enjoying it and hope you continue to enjoy it Pete!

Fallout 3 was better in my opinion. I just prefer the whole postapocalyptic wasteland scenario, it felt so refreshing when it first came out. Also, Skyrim's combat kinda sucks which especially shows when you played Dark Souls before.

I have thought of a strategy for this game from watching this video: go into every area/dungeon at level 1 (or some low level) to lock all the monsters to a low level so they're easy to beat.

Skyrim kicks ass.
So far I've been in it for 130+ hours. At first I was thrown off by the controls, but now I'm level 38 and crushing everything under my Dragonplate boots.
When I got a bit bored, I started a quest that dragged me underground to Blackreach, and nearly shat myself. I suggest you see it for yourself rather than look up a video, much more epic, but I digress.
Skyrim is a massive improvement upon Oblivion, in more ways than I can describe in a comment.

consoles have totaly netuerd TES daggerfall and morrowinf was hardcore i can beat oblivion by facerolling my keyboard skyrim was 1 step forward but 3 steps back with the every skill is a primary bullshit all the handholding and fast travel 3rd person only werewolves its like they only care about making it for console noobs who can plan out a char i probley make 20 guys in daggerfall before i was happy with all the atvantages/disatvantages skills and shit but here you dont even pick a birthsign
