  • I almost felt high watching this. very melllloooo. :)

  • Ive been playing stoner rock but my tone sounds more Sabbath like. But to make it even sound more dynamic and heavier I guess I have to change the tone a bit to sound a bit like the tone in this video. Its all about tonage. Awesome vid.

  • What guage strings are you using.

  • @max300988 .10 - 46s

  • "SG" just went from Solid Guitar, to Stoned Guitarist.

  • lol im playing guitar for 5 years now 2 years im trying to figure out how you play those heavy stoner riffs but i wanted to create songs myself and i never knew that those awesome sounding riffs were actually that easy ^^ thanks for the lesson man i really needed that now i can put it to use in my band

    peace

  • Can you feel the heaviness ?:D I can :P

  • yummmmm silver humbuckersssss =D

  • Thank you ! Much appreciated !

  • To excel in this genre, you must first smoke a fat dudbie, the rest comes natural.

  • Stoner riff lesson one: Get a decent tube amp. Not a fucking peavey bandit

  • @ErroSilvae I'm using the Toneport here mate, so not sure why you even bothered.

  • @ErroSilvae The second lesson is if you're a hater, throw your gear out in the trash and shoot yourself in the head.

  • what equipment/effects are you using to get that sound? its really similar to kyuss' sound which is what im trying to achieve.

  • @stickierbuds I'm not using any effects here. I'm using the rhythm pickup on the SG with the tone control all the way back, giving it that fuzzy sort of sound.

  • @gsogoz my bad dude i commented on the wrong video, i meant to ask about the "creating drone riffs" video... still the same deal?

  • @stickierbuds I was on the treble pup in that one, and using my Peavey Bandit, not the Toneport.

  • @gsogoz alright thanks man

  • this is exactly why i love playing stoner/grunge type of guitar. because its so open ended random and GROOVY!!!! 80's type always use the same generic cords. Metal is mostly about fast palm muting. im all for mix of these types of playing though

  • @Ombrenuit yeah, he's tuned down a step and a half on each string, but for simplicity's sake he just refers to the positions as if he was in standard. the examples he gives can be played in any variation of standard tuning, but Db is a pretty regular tuning for stoner rock.

  • @krazyzark thanks. I tried to delete my comment because I realized how retarded I was being heh but I guess I failed! :p

  • some of the best guitar lessons on youtube! and great riffs too

  • @MightyOdin Thanks, always nice to hear :D

  • Why the hell are your strings so loose?

  • @DavidL1432 .10 - .46 gauge strings and the tuning that I am in are probably not the ideal combination.

  • what s tuning is this?

  • @Cecilia32313 It's just in the lovely standard tuning.

  • @Cecilia32313 Check out more info below video.

  • Great Riffs, Dude !

Whar Amp/Pedal are you using on that lesson ?

  • @mastaslap Line 6 Toneport. Just posted a video about settings.

  • Hodge Podge :0)

  • could you please do another lesson of some electric wizard song? or mayby kyuss! it would help alot:)

  • Awesome! Can you make some thrash metal lessons?

  • Check out Dali's Llama or Whoress of Tijuana for some sweet Desert Stoner grooves, both bands produced by Scott Reeder

  • those natural harmonics are just so awesome.. for some reason i always thought that those won't fit into stoner metal

  • @CannibalCadavere It's all about textures!

  • Could you possibly do a guide to get such a good stoner tone??? :) Love your lessons.

  • @lazycrazybastard WIll be doing soon. It's a good idea.

  • Hey Corey. I love the sound you've got going with this particular video. Are there any bands you recommend that play a similar style to your opening riffs? Keep up these videos, they really help me out.

  • @prolixian I would recommend a Queens Of The Stone Age album called Songs for the deaf.

  • @BadassMo0ze Thanks man, I already have that album and their self-titled debut. Both are superb, I was wondering if there was anything else similar. I'm not very up on my stoner rock.

  • @BadassMo0ze I agree.

  • @prolixian Seconding the Songs For The Deaf rec.

Also, definitely check out Kyuss. The album Welcome To Sky Valley is some amazing stoner rock.

  • @grimhorgh76 I love Welcome to Sky Valley, was listening to Demon Cleaner only this morning in fact! Any other suggestions?

  • @prolixian Do you know Sleep? Holy Mountain is a damn fine album.

  • @prolixian Fu Manchu and Nebula are also good bands for these types of riffs

  • @prolixian As BadassMo0ze commented, Queens of the Stone Age is a really good place to start. I also love Kyuss and Brant Bjork. All three are related. Josh Homme from QOTSA and Brant were in Kyuss together for a while.

  • @gsogoz Fu Manchu is also a very good place to start. Especially the older albums. Great lesson! Thanks!

  • @speedphreax Oh yeah. Great band too. Groovy sounds :D

  • @gsogoz Sleep are also amazing, not as relaxed but very groove based.
