Also I'd like to add that Bowie is freaking gorgeous here of course, but Gail is also absolutely cool as fuck. It's a pleasure seeing her perform next to David so often.

This is garbage ...everybody playing like a jaded session musician. I'd like to see Bowie play with a bunch of musicians who didn't stifle all the immediacy out of the tunes with their technical polish. The drums are absoulte self indulgence.
Fripp's modern assault propelled the band in the original, while still providing a linchpin to which the entire band pivoted, Gabrells' playing has the energy but none of the function and seems to compete for attention.
bro's,,,,i like reeves gabriel,,,,,,,but fripp cooks him,,,,fripp
does this track with the kinda intensity that comes from controled madness,,,,,reeves sound has to much of a wash about it , you loose the unpredictabilty of the thang,,thanks for the post though,,,,max o'-----------
Does Fripp play on the album? This is R. Gabriel here... I know Belew played on a bunch of Bowie stuff but I'm unaware of Fripp on any of it... please inform. Thanks.
fripp on the original,,,adrian belew,,,,a guy named chuck hammer,,,,,,,and beleive it or not pete townsend played a bit of accoustic,,,,,adrian belew is a true pioneer,,,chuck hammer
gets a whole weird thing going,,,,im not slagging reeves,,,,its just robert fripp kinda invented this thing with belew,, the only modern guitarist i know who does it well is troy tempest or troyt but he dont seem to wanna play out anymore
a super bowie,,, I love so much his lyrics and the way he sing,,, a rock monster,,, no rocker has been like him,,, look at ziggy stardust and any other his characters,,, They had something living in,,, I can't explain, he's a great magician of rock ;-)
By the way miniorangepanther, about your comment on Mr. Bowie's voice, it's perfectly excellent and he is not saying/singing HOME he is saying a word HAND.. At 1:06 of the video, it's perfectly excellent, yet once again. You rock ho-hum, ROCK ON--> ALWAYS!!!
David Bowie is a CLASS ACT with no par, in his genre..!!!.Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect their opinions. But, this video-let's put it this way, I BET if you are a TRUE rock-and-roll person I would bet you would love to be at that concert, RIGHT?David Bowie ROCKS. ABSOLUTELY Mr. Reeves Gabriels (lead guitarist, like you cannot miss him) He ROCKS all four of those musicians totally rocked together.. And that is one gnarly UNDERSTATEMENT.! Darric McCormick
i think its adorale how he tries to keep his voice low like it is at the begining but it automaticly becomes higher like at 1:06, when he says home. maybe its on perpose, but either way its cute =)
daylightboy-> This is just what i was thinking. You're not old at all, i'm into thrash metal and such other violent stuff and i totally see your point.
Bowie is king....however like most 'live' music vids....tooo tooo much flashing from one scene to another, I just want to watch him sing or just watch the geetar solo...is it me? or is it aret??? or am I old??? flash, flash, flash
I remeber this show. I used to watch NPA everyday. I think he also played Little Wonder on that show. Actually, I really start to enjoy listening David Bowie since that show. Earthling is on my top 3 David Bowie album, the other are Ziggy and Alladdin Sane.
agreed...I think Reeves really rejuvinated Bowie's career in '88-'89...gave him a swift kick & together they produced some groundbreaking stuff...shame they drifted apart. and dorsey's GREAT on bass...
...... 2011-2012-==== try to find artits like thoses ,, name-them/?

Yup, thats Fripp. One thing about Bowie is that he is still as versatile today as he was when he first came out.

damn! his best band ever.
it was great in '81, but who'd think it'd be just as killin' so many years later.
Bowie has CLASS and STYLE and I LOVE HIM.

Bowie's music drifted away from being so guitar driven, hence Gabrels parted company with him.
Everyone has their time with Bowie. It's nothing personal.
