  • at the beginning it sounds like aussies talking over the radio

  • To every vet, a big thank you for everything you did and an even bigger hug, from me!!! <3 <3 <3

  • I wish I was in Vietnam next to those guys who were in fear for there life. I know if I was actually there I'd regret it but it would be better that way...

  • @CajunCatfish47 Charlie was much more scared young one. Even with both hands tied behind our back, we beat Charlie senseless. 1.1 million to 58K.

  • whats the name of the history channel documentation seen in the first seconds?

  • Such a bullshit war, such a fucking shit to give to the soldiers, so much so that they returned home to be unwelcomed,

  • Is it just me or did the "static" voices sound a bit Aussie ?

  • @LiquidLazer

    Indeed

  • i WROTE THAT SONG WHEN i WAS 10 YRS OLD IN NAM I COULD GET IN BY BEING A SONG WRITER & 311 U.O.M MILITIA I SENT 2 MARINE RUNNERS TO BURDON TO DELIVER THE LYRICS FROM THE FIELD.

  • Notice that the Dustoff bird shown at 2 min has NO machine guns. We flew unarmed into some incredible situations. The enemy knew we were unarmed, and didn't bring gunships for booby trap missions. They would set off a blast, and patiently wait for us to come in low and slow. In 3 tours, this happened to me a number of times.

  • Don't know exactly why so many VN Vets are so touched by this song. For me, it just touches some deep emotion. Since Viet Nam, the ONLY thing that can make me reach emotions is music. The first thing I lost in combat was the ability to feel. You cannot afford to stop and feel things in combat and still function. I grieve deeply for all the new combat vets that are daily losing that. They MUST be welcomed home, and treated for their PTSD Immediately, whether they are showing symptoms now or not.

  • the vietnam war was a lie their wasnt any communistic people in vietnam the whole war was for ya ass

  • My dad was part of operation rolling thunder, he was 101st airborne.

  • Afghanistan/Iraq is a modern day Vietnam.

  • For the record, I was USAF in Thailand in 1973 working on B-52s and KC-135s. As such I do not claim the honor of being a Viet Nam Vet, but a Viet Nam ERA Vet. I didn't have to endure the various kinds of hell that those of you who served "in country" had to., so I don't have the right to the title "Viet Nam Vet" My hat's off to you who did and welcome home! Hope your life back here in the world has been good.

  • Actually, our involvement w/ Viet Nam began in 1945:Pres. Truman declined to assist Viet Nam in establishing a democracy in that country at the end of WW2. Instead, we chose to support France in re-establishing their colonial rule in VN. The Vietnamese people chose to fight for their independence, accepting aid from whoever would give it, e.g. the Soviet Union and Red China.(see rational revolution. net / war / collection _ of _ letters _ by _ ho _ chi _ . htm)

  • The Irony:In 1776 the British Colonies/future U.S. accepted aid from France,a long-time enemy of England,in our war to gain freedom from England. When VN asked the US to help them win freedom from France,we chose instead to help France regain dominance over VN. The tragedy: after France lost at Dien Bien Phu in 1954 and left VN,we kept fighting a doomed war of "containment" against a people who were now committed to winning their own freedom, no matter the cost, like we did in 1776.

  • Very nice video and music!!!! Great job. my dad was in Vietnam

  • friends of mine went to vientam. Because they made some stupid things. And they got the decison to go to prison or to vietnam..Not because they believed in that stupid war.So they went to vietnam...... and never slept a whole night without nightmare.....

Never forget Vietnam. Never forget the war. And tell everyone: WE DON'T WANT A WAR! WE WANT TO LIVE IN PEACE

  • Thanks for posting Rob. Good stuff. I like to hear the Aussie & Kiwi radio traffic. You guys are fantastic allies and some of us 'Yanks' love and appreciate your Nation and it's people for being such great allies. Many times the whole world has been against the U.S. and our South Pacific friends stayed beside us. I would like to include the U.K. too. But I know Dad had great regards for our Kiwi and Aussie friends. May God bless you all...
