@KelanDWood It's a great song... it just didn't stand out to be one of the Top 5 War Time songs for me. Oh, by the way... Dan Hill DID write the song for the movie.
mmm..nice songs it remember's me a Homeworld soundtrack .. in that mission you come back to your planet but you see it destroyed and in that mission there is a song near like this very sad
@FuzzyFilmltd very nice song i can't believe! they maked a song like that for a game so epic..my friend always its near to cry on that mission of Homeworld!
While I don't agree with the US and it's policy of pre-emptive strikes on other sovereign nations, you have to remember the american soldiers do not make the decisions and decide who they will fight.
Don't show disrespect towards the men and women who serve in the US Armed Forces, instead blame the people who send them to fight and die for profits.
Leaders think nothing of sending other peoples children to be sacrificed in war, but like the Bush's they keep their own kids out of them.
If there's a world war 3, the one to be sure of falling is America. America might have the most powerful military in technologie way, but the thing that America can't handle is devastation and poverty, which country like North Korea or Russia don't give a fuck since their already living in it and live in this way of thinking. And by the way: -Never underestimate your enemy. North Korea as not gived news of their technological advancement since 2006. There's something to hide and it's not pretty.
There are 300 million guns owned by private citizens, if we give up 1 gun to every able bodied male and female citizen over 14,. thats WAY more than the North Korean army.
@HHHdahman Maybe but what you don't seem to catch it's that ALOT of countries are waitting for the opportunity to take down USA, even a few of your allies. Just like that it's not because a couple of millions persons know how to shoot that it's powerful. A 300 millions persons militia can be easely taking down by raging a few the others will surrender.....
@HHHdahman Well I don't see how you can judge weither they're the cowards or not. And no i'm not on their side, but i'm not on the USA side too. USA is the country that deserves the most a good fucking rape, biggest cowards that have ever lived attacking the weak countries to take their ressources. Trust me, it will turn back on you. Attack Kadhafi in Libya and NK will get on it and it wont be pretty for both countrie but more for USA, because if theres a WW3, trust me, USA is out of the map.
@TheBienpro i just want to clarify that not all americans agree with the things our government does. in fact, most disagree. us americans are not very good at electing people. either that or the people we elect are very good at lieing.
@TheBienpro im not old enough to vote. and i hated bush from the day i was old enough to understand the shit he did. he was an idiot and a disgace. im not saying it wasnt our fault for choosing him, but we, well most of us, realised the mistake we made afterwards. and for that, we apologize
if ever there is a world war again. It will be the last one. America is not the only country with nuclear power now. I guarantee you the enemy will unleash their most devastating weapons before admitting defeat, which will trigger a counter attack and a chain reaction that will destroy most of the world.
So true. And not to mention that all nations NOT struck by the bombs themself will also suffer the effects of the bombs, the radiation would spread and kill basicly anything in its path.....the ocean would go dead first, and that would kill everything that isn't directly hit by the radiation, the plants would suffer too, taking the remaining life with it.....stupid bombs, such a narrow minded invention.
@nick191088 Why wouldn't the home front unleash our most devastating weapons before admitting defeat first? I mean, look at the bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki in 1945 during the final stages of World War II. The US conducted those atomic bombings... not the "enemy". I'm just saying... the US is just as likely to initiate the eradication of the world just as much as the enemy. We're not saints.
@StakeJade well i didn't mean enemy of america, i meant whoever loses, sorry for the confusion, the only time i said america is because they were the only ones with nukes before and now they're not. I could have said it a little clearer i guess. But the concept still applies.
@StakeJade But its restraint that has made us greater than our enemies. Where we tested well away from population centers, Saddam tested his on the Kurds and the Iranians. That's just one out of a hundred examples of evil dictators who tested on people rather than animals or some other form.
@FREEKILL117 those bombs were actually bluffs. there was no third bomb. if the japanese decided not to surrender, the USA would have to keep firebombing, and to physically invade the home islands would result in many many millions dead on all sides. nd reduce japan to a desolae wasteland.
ok i get the last bit...but i cant tell if you're trolling or stupid with that first sentence
firstly, the bombs were blatantly not bluffs, seeing as though there was nothing but two fucking huge craters at Hiroshima and Nagasaki....and i never said anything about a third bomb
@FREEKILL117 my point is tha the usa wasnt able to continue bombing japan in that way. since they didnt have any more bombs.
yes they did massive damage, wipig out two cities, but the real message was to make the japanese realise once and for all they had no way of winning in order to force a quick surrender. if the japanese hadnt surrendered the bombs wouldnt have made that much of a difference really. since japan still was going to fight on using even the smallest child. this is a fact.
@FREEKILL117 i know you didnt say anything about a third bomb btw.
i also assume ou meant a different type of bomb was dropped on nagasaki since the hydrogen fusion bomb wasnt developed until the early 50's or at least the very end of the decade
the fat man bomb was just a different TYPE of fission, nuclear bomb, using plutonium instead of uranium i think.
@nick191088 "I do not with what weapons World War Three will be fought with, but World War Four will be fought with sticks and stones." -Albert Einstein
I do think that though, the United States would destroy any nuclear arsenal before it could be used, plus there are many restrictions put in place before nukes can be used
@ShadeIsaac and its why people are scared abot places like north korea. china, the US russia UK, france india etc all understand the meaning of MAD. but a nation like the koreans might just be cazy enough to break that delicate balance.
since they will only benefit from a jumbling of the current paradigm

@GRapollonas There are many more corrupt countries in the world. If we are that corrupt as you say then we would be like Iraq. Our system would fail if we were that corrupt. We are corrupt but many other countries are way more corrupt than the U.S. Speaking of Iraq I can't believe that the war is over.
jason4852 i saw your comment i am sorry for your brother it may be difficult after that to understand what i say but let me tell you the terrorists are the americans not the iraq people who defend their country this war is clearly for other reasons and not for the so called "terrorists". your brother is a victim of his goverment and not a victim of iraq.

Powerful song, makes you think of the generation that went through this war and how they farred during and after the war, and worst of all those who didn't make it back. :(

I can't believe how uneducated your fuckers are. This is called "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber. You know, God forbid you turn the radio on and here somethign not by the Rolling Stones, or MegaDeath. Just once in your fucking life. Now every asshat who watches the movie's gonna think Oliver Stone hired someone to write this piece for Platoon. Swear to God, people ought to write books about this kinda stupidity.

ahahahah i wasent talkin about classical i was talkin about every genre i said dat not eveyr listens to this music therefore they will only know the most popular version
@Lassann They have, more like handbooks. I'm sure Goebbels' people that took during Project Paperclip HAD to have written something on it. The movie Idiocracy kinda sums it up. See now the final results of a nation that has been dumbed down on purpose for several generations. It ain't gonna be pretty. Believe it.
@Lassann sorry but i love megadeth and rolling stones and metallica and disturbed , yet i love classics like this if you loved music as much as you say you do you would be able to appreciate this piece now go bow your head in shame
The introduction melody is from "Kameo: Elements of Power", one of my favorite XBOX 360 games. The melody is called "Theena's Sorrow" and is #110 of my VGM picks.
And what's the basis for that? Does it have to do with José Argüelles' forcast of a cataclysm around Dec. 21st 2012 according to the Mayan Calender? If that's the case, personally I believe it's the same as Y2K. It's all hype.
@SniperViper1000 If there is ever a WW3 i will join like THAT! For some reason ive always wished that i could go back in time and fight in WW2 with the airborne division. That has been my dream.
@spencer0718 i Know what you mean by that. Just its somthing inside you to fight and i would join right nerxt to you if WW3 but im already ahead of you. Ive already enroled into the airforce.
How many years will it be from today that we look back and question the existence of something called war. Will the day never come... we live in a world without slavery now, without kings ruling us, without all we once imagined as impossible to get rid of...
i to had a brother who passed away in that god forsaken war but always remeber its not how they died its how they lived they did die with honor they protected you all the people they love and the will love you forever where ever they might be and soon in two months time i will be there in kandaher waiting for my fait protecting the people i love
I guess he did die with honor, but he didn't say good bye to anyone, only me. he said i love you to my parents, and said to me what ever happens to me don't do the same- and the letter we recieved on his 1st month during war said make sure Nick (me) never see's what im seeing. nobody should see what im doing"
@jason4852 Sorry man. That is just scary. I think about joining the Army(not cause of Call of Duty or anything) and things like that just scare me. Not having a chance. One thing you should know, there are no terrorists in Iraq. Just insurgents and insurgency that has erupted in to full play. Sectarian Civil War. Sunni's vs. Shia's. The Muslims first priority is to kill each other in different Sects of the religion then kill Americans. All the terrorsist are in Afghanistan.
Terrorist you moron....not terrost....and they are no more terrorist then your brother were. They were fighting eachother, and in war killing an enemy is not the work of terrorist, but that of soldiers. If your brother had come home, he might have been the one who killed people on their own land, so I guess your brother was a terrorist then? No? Grow up, stop talking in a circle.
My brother died in Afghanistan in a heavy fire fight, he didn't die with honor, those damn towel heads bombed a car next to him. they said he lived the explosion but was pinned onto a wall with metal pinning him in, they said he would live, but a bullet hit him as he was stuck.
War is cruel but there will always be wars and rumors of wars. Im 1 and I still stay awake sometimes at night thinking of those dying now in the world from operation Iraqi freedom and thank god that I shall never have to enduer those harsh times when I have to take a mans life. If having 2 be done I will do it, but i dont want to. I want to thank anyone reading this right no that was a veteran. YOU ARE MY HEROS. Great Song..
Because I have a preference for classical music or more precisely its perfect smoothness, I would rank this song above Black Hawk Down's theme. I enjoyed both movies very much and think both themes fit very well.
I hope this song helps us all remember what war does to people and does not encourage anyone to participate in any war.
i have to reply on that and say i totally agree. Platoon is the only vietnam movie that really touched me even though its old it actually never gets old enough i love the movie and ive lost count on how much ive actually watched it lol :D anyways good reply and you know what ill give you a +1 for that :)
Why, thanks. I can add that I think that Platoon is very realistic (as far as I can tell) in comparison to any other of the 1980´s war movies, maybe not the special effects, but in ways of the behaviour of the troops and such.
today is a special day... TODAY its time to show them what we,ve got!! willllll end this war... GENTLEMAN TODAY IS THE DAY WE FIIGHTTT!!!!!! CHAAAAARRRGGEEEEEE ^^ 5/5 awesome soundtrack

Please can you tell me whats that melody on the beginning of video ? Is that from some song or ... ?
scaevenius 2 years ago
The introduction melody is from "Kameo: Elements of Power", one of my favorite XBOX 360 games. The melody is called "Theena's Sorrow" and is #110 of my VGM picks.

ww3 will be 2010-2011 !
FeaRxIxSKillz 2 years ago
And what's the basis for that? Does it have to do with José Argüelles' forcast of a cataclysm around Dec. 21st 2012 according to the Mayan Calender? If that's the case, personally I believe it's the same as Y2K. It's all hype.
StakeJade 2 years ago
@StakeJade W'e'll never known.. for all we know WW3 could happen next month, never, next year or even tomorrow.

How many years will it be from today that we look back and question the existence of something called war. Will the day never come... we live in a world without slavery now, without kings ruling us, without all we once imagined as impossible to get rid of...

I'm pretty sure this is song is called Agnus Dei, a catholic hymn and far predates the movie itself

darkness111111111111 2 years ago
I guess he did die with honor, but he didn't say good bye to anyone, only me. he said i love you to my parents, and said to me what ever happens to me don't do the same- and the letter we recieved on his 1st month during war said make sure Nick (me) never see's what im seeing. nobody should see what im doing"

@jason4852 you can take comfort in the fact that the terrorist was probobly assraped with his own rifle
driftingbosco 1 year ago
@jason4852 Sorry man. That is just scary. I think about joining the Army(not cause of Call of Duty or anything) and things like that just scare me. Not having a chance. One thing you should know, there are no terrorists in Iraq. Just insurgents and insurgency that has erupted in to full play. Sectarian Civil War. Sunni's vs. Shia's. The Muslims first priority is to kill each other in different Sects of the religion then kill Americans. All the terrorsist are in Afghanistan.

@jason4852 Whats a "Terrosts"?
FailsOfReach 1 year ago
@jason4852
Pumanic 1 year ago

Best of the Vietnam movies, in my opinion, and certainly one of the best war movies in general.

i have to reply on that and say i totally agree. Platoon is the only vietnam movie that really touched me even though its old it actually never gets old enough i love the movie and ive lost count on how much ive actually watched it lol :D anyways good reply and you know what ill give you a +1 for that :)
homokaj 2 years ago 2
Why, thanks. I can add that I think that Platoon is very realistic (as far as I can tell) in comparison to any other of the 1980´s war movies, maybe not the special effects, but in ways of the behaviour of the troops and such.
