  • Hello friend, when you turn on the amp with the distortion why it hear "static"?, Like something was not properly connected? It's the amp or the guitar?

  • you play distortion metal just like my brother hahaa

  • does the amp come with a pedal to switch from clean to distortion? and would amp be super loud for gigs because i need a loud amp fast for my next band rehearsal hahaha

  • what tuning did you use drop c ?

  • @killswitchengage3322 Use your earsss.

  • would my firebird sound good through this.it has two alnico humbuckers which arent good at all

  • Is there a point of a little break-up on that clean channel (Clean with a little hair on it)? Also -Is the clean channel loud enough to compete with a hard rocking drummer? Thanks man!

  • this or the line 6 spider IV half stack?, playing in venues and stuff.

  • @MetalHeadEmperor this would be better for playing in venues. Line 6 spider would be better for playing in your room or maybe recording, but line 6 is basically just a fun toy.

  • I have the halfstack and absolutely love it

  • Is this footswitchable?

  • @LatvianXave8 Yep, the head comes with a footswitch that let you change the channel and switch the reverb

  • lol, this sounds like a tube amp. In a way, this is like a slightly better line 6 spider iv amp

  • Just ordered mine, pretty excited waitin' for it to show up. I ordered this one and the Ibanez TBX150H half stack as a backup for gigging, but this Randall will be my new recording amp.

  • sounds like a RG100 randall, best solid state amps ever

  • Nice distortion channel but the clean channel is weak

  • i guess this amp wouldnt be good for folk and bluesy stuff right

  • @TheSchoolsux345 definitely not. look at the b-52 LS100 if you want a cheap amp or fender amps.

  • @TheSchoolsux345 wouldnt be best but its possible

  • I'm thinking of getting this halfstack. I would like to know some of the negative qualities it has.

  • hey thanks for posting this video :) I'm saving up for a half stack and I can't decide between a crate or this one...so i was jw, what do you like/not like about this half stack?

  • would you recomend this amp to others im in a performing band and i need something to perform with should this do the trick?

  • I have this amp, and if you wanna make it sound sick, buy a Boss Metal Zone.

  • @RottenAnatomy why use the pedal, just use the overdrive channel

  • @hyperphoenix11

Because with the pedal, you can get some really sick distortion going, like, death metal kind of stuff. The regular distortion channel is okay if you're in a regular rock band or something, but if you play anything heavier than thrash, you'll need a distortion pedal.

  • Man i have the same amp, the distortion isn't that good, can you tell me how do you settle the overdrive channel ??? Great video :)

  • boring metal riffs

  • shity clean channel

    lead channel is alright

  • i need a amp for gigs is this it? is he using distortion pedals or not? i don't wan't to have to use any i am on a slight budget, this and a herman li ibaneze prestige or just a nice krank tube what should i do?

  • @clay546 what guitar are you using now?

  • @NICKGMOAR

i have 7, but i will use my jackson soloist with EMG 85/81 the most at gigs because we play thrash metal.

  • do you want to buy a new amp?

  • is this kid using any distortion pedals? i want a amp that doesn't need any.this amp is on sale for 500 bucks on friends and i want the knew herman li prestige.should i hold out on the guitar and get a krank tube amp or just get this one? ps. i need it for gigs.

  • why the fuck do u even have a herman li signature?? and yea this amps awesome for live shit. but if u can afford an amp as expensive as a krank, just go for a mesa boogie dual rectifier.

  • Comment removed

  • @BCRichGuitarsFTW No this amp is a solid state amp which breaks up at loud volumes so get your shit straight and watch who you are talking to.

  • @clay546 watch who im talking to? go fuck urself bud. talkin mad shit behind a computer.

    pussy

  • @BCRichGuitarsFTW Right on the MESA over the KRANK. P.S. BCRich guitars blow.

  • @jhop5150 What's wrong with B.C. Rich? They make great guitars, you just have to find the right one.

  • i heard that solid state randalls are the best solid state amplifiers money can buy.

  • @anationsleeps

yeah i agree...i got one and the clarity is just amazing. even at high gain and cranked. it even sounds better than my buddies blue voodoo(well imo) its all in the eqing.

cant go wrong with one of these till you got enough for a 6505..lol

  • I own an RX120D and I can tell you the clean channel on it is absolutely beautiful. Always have had compliments on the amp after a show. The onboard distortion on it isn't all that great, but hey... that's what they make pedals for! All in all Randall kicks ass.

  • clean channel is shit, but the distortion sounds great!

  • I have this half stack, and it doesnt sound nearly as good as it does in this video. i'll give it the distortion channel isnt bad. but it's crap compared to how amazing it sounds in this video.

  • Thanks a lot man, i guess it has a lot to do with the emg pickup in the guitar.

  • @DrifterTrueno Hey, I have really high output passive pickups (DiMarzio D Activator-X set) in my Les Paul. Could I get a similar sound with those? Because of the high output and all.

  • @DrifterTrueno

    solid state?

  • @dantedabuildin just get a distortion pedal i have dimebag mxr pedal and i love it fuckin sweet tone cuts through everything

  • @dantedabuildin yeah this amp only sounds good with high output pickups

  • @dantedabuildin maybe its just your guitar's pickups. This kind of amp is made for metal, which is what EMG's are made for. So try an EMG 81 on the Bridge, it might sound better.

  • I WANT!!

  • im thinking about getting this amp and your demo of it is pretty appeling. i know that for playing at home, pratice, or small volume levels that it has good tone, but would you say it has enough juice to play small (high gain/metal) shows with-out a pa miked to it? since it's soild does it lose tone and quality at high levels? (also, all effects and distortion is done through my pedals so i'll be using nothing but the clean channels)

    thanks

  • Its 120 watts solid state, it'll be fine..just don't expect good tone at higher volumes like tube amps. Solid state sounds ok at lower volumes but when you crank em or use the clean channel..they sound like complete brittle ass.

  • yeah that's what im worried about. i want a nice tubed amp but they're so exspensive and ebay dosnt have a lot of good ones

  • Here's a few to consider (check guitar center's used site and ebay often)--Carvin X100B, Laney AOR, Crate Blue Voodoo, Carvin Legacy, Ampeg VL1002 or VL502. Those are all VERY competitive amps for very little money (none should be over 500 bucks for the head) I got my 1988 Carvin x100b half stack for 560 bucks after shipping from GC's used site. It'd kill a Marshall; its comparable to a Mesa Mark III, but hot rodded. Or you could go the Bugera route because they have really good price points too

  • That's not baad... I might have to buy that haha

  • Are you using the distortion on the amp or a pedal?

  • Amp Head.

  • Probably a dumb question, but I couldn't find this out anywhere else...

Is this solid state or tube?

  • Solid State

  • @DrifterTrueno but sounds like a tube amp!!! what are your settings? i have the same amp

  • its solid state. two ways you can tell is that tube amps cost upwards of 1 grand. also this does not sound as good as a tube amp.

  • Yeah. I also noticed that it turned on right away, while a tube amp would need to warm up.

  • Don't mislead people. Tube heads range greatly in price from very cheap ($300) to very expensive ($4500 or more). For people wanting high quality tube amps that are really inexpensive, find a used Carvin x100b or Legacy, or an ampeg vl1002, crate blue voodoo, or Laney VOR. Or just get a Bugera. All of those are very competitive, great sounding amps.

  • i ad ths amp it is really great and affordable

  • So I guess Actives work well with this amp? because I myself have a Razorback with Blackouts installed, and have been looking towards this

  • dimebag derall used something like this didnt he..?

  • @mxv22 he used randalls, but no i dont think he used this type, hes too good for this

  • Actually i think he may have used something close to this, he didn't really use expensive amps or gear

  • he used a randall rg100es for most of his career and for cleans he used his signature randall warhead

  • ??? Im looking to buy this amp but theres two different looking stacks?? one has like bits of white around two knobs. is there a difference man? help

  • the one with white around two knobs i believe has built in effects.

  • Settings?

  • everything at the 12 o clock...pretty much

  • Damn, I try to get that distorted tone but I can't. Maybe it's because I play older riffs with passives.

  • hey wud u suggest this amp or the rg75dg3?

  • oh btw, im lookin for a nice overdrive sound not really metal....more like the breaking benjamin tone

  • is that extra noise for the distortion or just the video camera?

  • its feedback

  • is the amps distortion realy weak how pepople say beacuse in this video it sounds great to me lots of low end.

  • its real weak for it is...i'd run a distortion pedal.

  • is this amp loud enough to play at like small gigs?

  • yeah its is, used a few shows. pretty good overall...

  • i got one sounds really good for a low price it gives you a tube amp sensation.

  • is this amp a tube and how much does it cost.

  • it is solid state but gives you a light tube sound it cost around 649$

  • what riff is that at 0:07?

  • just random playing really

  • are you using any distortion pedals? or is that the amps natural sound??

  • thats the amp's distortion

  • im sold.

  • Your just playin straight through the amp right?

  • yes straight into the amp.

  • alright awesome...that amp is amazing!

  • does it come with footswitch or not?

  • yeah it does come with a footswitch

  • nice vid

    i have a question,

i cant afford a half stack rite now, but i can get a cabinet, can i hook up my foot pedal to the cab and play it that way until i can afford a head?

  • no.....

  • man, sorry that i go out of theme, but work with your stomach, you can

  • where did u get this amp?

  • i got it from musicians friends..

  • YEAH there ya go. I'm looking to get this. The sound is great but would you recommend it?

  • nice tone

  • Can you do medium sized gigs with this or would you have to run it through a pa also?

  • i think you can do medium sized gigs with it its loud as hell

  • I currently use a Boss GT-10 pedalboard. If I ran the Boss through the amps clean ch would I still get the sounds I have? Or should I try to stick with tubes.

  • Is there a lot of feedback? I was gonna get the Kirk hammett signature, but im short on money. Is this good for metallica?

  • nice playing! Love those metal riffs

Im thinkin of buying this amp.i hear that almost every randall is great quality for the money. Is it a tube type amplifier? i have a line 6 spider righ now, and the sound is getting kinda stale.

  • so funny how I'm in the same situation as you dude haha

  • lol, i've also been checking out the new vox vt series, pretty good amp from what im hearing

  • I was looking at the B-52 As100 something its 50 bucks cheaper than this is but I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet

  • You should check out the Ls100 I just one and im glad I did.

  • does the cleans sound good with pedals?

i have the metalcore with an equalizer

  • Yeah the cleans sounds good with the metalcore pedal.

  • hey do you think this head can push 2 randall cabs?

  • i think so man, it has another output on the back for a second cab.

  • oh really i mean i just hope it has enough power cause i don't want it to blow right after i getr it lol

  • I would make a video of the head running two cabs but sadly I don't access to another cab.

  • Can you do a review about this amp showing the range of sounds (like from clean to distortion)?

  • yeah for sure man, ill probably get to it in a few days or so.

  • is the RX120RH the same as the RX120RHS???

  • yeah, pretty much, i thing the rx120rhs comes with built in effects

  • Actually, the RX120RH is just the head. The RX120RHS is the stack, and the RX120DH(S) is the one with the Digital EFX

  • this is the one without the effects.

  • i'm getting the full stack with effects XD

  • you dont need another cabinet since this head is 120 watts and the cabinet takes 300 watts unless its for looks

  • i love it loud ;)

  • 200 watts, bud.

  • i have this amp and the cab is 300 and the head is 120

  • Hi man how much is this amp

  • 559.00 that how it is on Musicians Friend

  • how much is this halfstack, and is it good for playing metal

  • 559.00 that how it is on Musicians Friend, yeah i guess its good for metal.

  • how loud is it

  • its goes pretty loud without it going muddy.

  • From 1 to 10 how much would you give?

  • 8.5

  • How sustainable is it?

im considering buying it, btw nice playing,VERY metal.

  • all depends on your guitar for that one,

its a good half stack for the price. thanks alot man

  • ok kool, no problem

  • are you using any pedals with the amp in this vid? im looking for a good half stack (solid state or tube) with good distortion so that i won't need a pedal. what kind of distortion can you get out of this without pedals?

  • In this video im not using any distortion pedal, its the heads distortion, its kinda weak though.

  • it doesnt sound too weak. bad audio quality?

  • well compared to my boss ml2 its weak, thats what i meant.

  • sounds sick i want one

  • solid or tube?

  • Solid State.

  • "Dwane5335

hey guys i own this amp as well and im in love with it. since im only 17 and have a part time job outside high school its really affordable u cant beat it. I was suprised how well it performs for a solid state, 120 watt Randall half stack. its very reliable so i say if your looking for a half stack that will last until u can get something better, (currently saving for a Bogner or a MESA)get this."

Sorry didn't mean to remove it meant to reply to it.

  • I had the tone blaster. Distortion was great but it made some weird compressed sounds during palm mutes that didnt sound like any guitar amp I know of

  • do u play shows? if u have is it good for gigging? i need a stack that is show worthy

  • i haven't had a chance to gig with it, but if you are looking for something good to gig with go with 6505+

  • r u usin a pedal, or is that the original distortion? pls write back im seriously lookin at one of these

  • No, im using the amps overdrive all knobs at 12 o'clock.

its a decent half stack for 500 buck.

  • Would you recommend this? I have been looking at this for several weeks.

  • yeah i would recommend it if your on a tight budget.

  • Alright one more question.. Is this thing loud and does it get really fuzzy when you crank it up?

  • well once you fix the eq on the overdrive channel, its pretty good and you can crank it up

but now im running a boss ml-2 so i don't have the feedback..

  • That's cool. I'll probably use my Ibanez smash box on it.

  • its a good half stack..you won't be dissapointed for the price.

  • Well Id get it right now but I cant get musicians friends credit card. So I gotta save up.

  • oh thats how i got, i waited till shipping was free on heavy stuff..so it was 499.99 in total...

  • what do you mean by fixing the eq. im new to the half stack game and im really trying to buy this one.

    please write back.

  • well i mean setting the treble, bass, and middle so you can match it to a dist/od pedal of your choice.

  • alright, one more question.

with that pedal you have (boss ml-2) how does it reduce feedback? isnt it a distortion pedal? what are the knobs turned to when you play with no feedback?

    thanks so much.

  • well the ml-2 is a distortion pedal but it doesn't reduce feedback, the only way i can think of to get rid of some feed back is by turning the Gain knob down on the pedal.

  • so does that take off from the total distortion. does it lose more of its metal sound?

  • well it takes off from your total distortion gain making it less distorted. yeah it does take away the metal sound as you stated.

  • thank you soo much.

and if you dont mind... last one,

how about a Noise Supressor, does it take away distortion as well? or just take off the feedback? you have been VERY helpful.

  • cool man, thanks for taking some interest in my videos,

well noise suppressor cut back on unwanted feedback and supposedly cut some of the tone of effects, but i've never owned one to verify that

  • noise supressors do generally affect your tone even when off

but i have the boss one...ns-2 - is a godsend. it cuts out the noise n leaves tone unaffected

  • I can't say about half stacks, but I do own a Noise Suppressor Pedal and a Boss MT-2 (Metal Zone) and I can say that the particular one that I have doesn't drain any distortion. I use the ISP Noise Decimator with a Raven 20 Watt. The Pedal cost me $120, so if you want something cheaper, you could try the Boss Noise Suppressor, but I've heard that it does drain Tone.

  • You gots some feedback with your overdrive!
