Lyoto is one of the few guys that can beat shogun... The key for him is to use the extra range that he has , work on his punching power again, and above all, learn to check those kicks...He got sucked into Shogun's range...
How I hate hearing all the Machida fans (and Machida himself) talk about how he won the first fight. Then you have to hear them call Shogun lucky in the 2nd fight. Shogun went out very agressive in the 2nd fight, making machida to backout a lot of times, and cornering him against the cage. then he finally got a good punch to knock him out. soem ppl r saying that machida took shogun down easily, well yea, he was desperate not to get knocked out. i say that Shogun dominated machida in this fight.

People saying Shogun losing to Forrest is a shame, those people are dummies. That was in 2007, that was Shoguns debut in the octagon. That was when Shogun wasn't as well rounded, as intelligent and wasn't comfortable in the Octagon like he was in the ring in Pride. Changing from the ring and to an octagon makes a difference on the fighters performance, ask cro cop, ask wanderlei, ask all of the best pride fighters.

Silva's been given an easier career than a lot of fighters, he hasn't fought as many strikers as he should be fighting. Silva has a BJJ black belt, but never has to use it. He would if he fought a guy with good striking AND ground game. Henderson was the only person to ever do anything against him on the ground what so ever, and Henderson is a good striker. He's fighting wrestlers and BJJ black belts mostly. Ed Soares is an idiot.

I don't know, Rashad was nothing compared to Machida. and is fighting Rampage and might get demolished, his best bet IS his wrestling. but Shogun has really good kneebars and has submitted really good wrestlers like him and has a lot of KO's, I think Evans is a better match for Shogun than Rampage though, Shogun would find Rampage out, even though he already beat Rampages ass in pride. and Shogun hasn't lost his edge like Wanderlei has.

I think if Rampage and Shogun fought that if Rampage landed at least one heavy shot on the chin to Shogun, Shogun would be out. Yeah, but we all know that Shogun doesn't have the best takedown defense, and Coleman IS a strong wrestler. Machida took Shogun down, but Shogun has a better ground game. He rolled to either a kneebar like he usually would, or a helicopter sweep. Machida held on the dominant position without trying to improve it. Rashad is a good wrestler, but we don't know how good his submission defense is yet. Oh well, they're all good fighters. Coleman sucks ass though.

Machida doesn't have near as good of a ground game as Shogun, so Machida couldn't capitilize when he had side control. Machida is too much karate, while Shogun is entirely versatile, ground, standing, clinch, you name it, shogun can do it.

A lot of people are mad at the judges of the UFC, after that fight I wanted to go kick Cecil Peoples or whatever his name is in the leg 1000 times since he feels they don't count. Also there is a little bit of anger at Dana for not stepping behind the real guy who won, but oh well this rematch better be straight up though. the big mistake machida made in the second fight was he stood toe to toe with shogun. he played right into shogun's hands. he should have evaded like he always does. he can't take shogun face to face. this is why he got knocked down. also rashad could not take rampage down. and shogun has an excellent ground game. i think shogun can take rashad on the ground and definitely standing up.

Shogun deserves all the credit for the different algorithms he employs to solve the varying styles. If that's the case Shogun's been getting lucky for many many years now.

i dont get why every1 is saying it was even. Shogun went out very agressive in the 2nd fight, making machida to backout a lot of times, and cornering him against the cage. then he finally got a good punch to knock him out. soem ppl r saying that machida took shogun down easily, well yea, he was desperate not to get knocked out. i say that Shogun dominated machida in this fight.

People saying Shogun losing to Forrest is a shame, those people are dummies. That was in 2007, that was Shoguns debut in the octagon. That was when Shogun wasn't as well rounded, as intelligent and wasn't comfortable in the Octagon like he was in the ring in Pride. Changing from the ring and to an octagon makes a difference on the fighters performance, ask cro cop, ask wanderlei, ask all of the best pride fighters.

Imo Randy will take him down and beat his head in. Silva's been given an easier career than a lot of fighters, he hasn't fought as many strikers as he should be fighting. Silva has a BJJ black belt, but never has to use it. He would if he fought a guy with good striking AND ground game. Henderson was the only person to ever do anything against him on the ground what so ever, and Henderson is a good striker. He's fighting wrestlers and BJJ black belts mostly. Ed Soares is an idiot.

I don't know, Rashad was nothing compared to Machida. and is fighting Rampage and might get demolished, his best bet IS his wrestling. but Shogun has really good kneebars and has submitted really good wrestlers like him and has a lot of KO's, I think Evans is a better match for Shogun than Rampage though, Shogun would find Rampage out, even though he already beat Rampages ass in pride. and Shogun hasn't lost his edge like Wanderlei has.

I think if Rampage and Shogun fought that if Rampage landed at least one heavy shot on the chin to Shogun, Shogun would be out. Rampage wouldn't get ko'd by Shogun, but Shogun would likely chop him down with leg kicks like Forrest did. Shogun is explosive, but doesn't have the power like Rampage.

I don't know about Rampage beating Machida, maybe we don't know. Shogun showed the agressiveness that Machida couldn't think how to counter well enough to even inflict any damage what so ever. Rampage is a brawler too and he has the best chin in MMA, besides Dan Henderson. I think Rampage could destroy Machida if he landed a solid punch, he has the most power at 205 in his hands.

He COULD Ko people with headkicks, Rampage said he can do those but he has to stretch a lot. In the fight he had with Henderson he threw a couple leg kicks and had good stand-up, and even had some control on the ground against him. The way Rampage fought in that fight is the best Rampage we can see in the UFC. He should've took Forrest down for sure, even though Forrest is better on the ground. Rampage IS a good wrestler. We just don't see it.

Yeah, but we all know that Shogun doesn't have the best takedown defense, and Coleman IS a strong wrestler. Machida took Shogun down, but Shogun has a better ground game. He rolled to either a kneebar like he usually would, or a helicopter sweep. Machida held on the dominant position without trying to improve it. Rashad is a good wrestler, but we don't know how good his submission defense is yet. Oh well, they're all good fighters. Coleman sucks ass though.

@kanarvin I was real happy for Shogun's victory too, I had $100 on the fight. However, I didn't see the entire rd 1 one-sided. Machida did get 2 takedowns and a couple of knees in there. Machida doesn't have near as good of a ground game as Shogun, so Machida couldn't capitilize when he had side control. Machida is too much karate, while Shogun is entirely versatile, ground, standing, clinch, you name it, shogun can do it.

Oh, wait, it's the fighters that are moving in slow-mo, NOT the TV. Machida, who normally darts in and out with lightning speed, stands there and lobs a couple of fists in slow-mo. Common why u guys debating so much ?can't u just understand machida is not shogun level .the reason why machida has the belt is because he was lucky against weak guys that's all ,and why he doesn't get knocked out is because he runs too much and has never tested his chin .shogun can take hard punches and throw hard punches and his ground game is almost perfect.next time machida gets Ko Ed in 2nd round .

@nimaxify I hope shogun wins too, but I disagree with you that Machida won most of his fights due to luck. Machida's only luck, in my opinion, is that everybody underestimated his unique style and therefore kept training according to their own previous strategies instead of adjusting to his unorthodox style. And yes, Machida's chin hasn't been tested yet. Remember the surprise look on Machida's face in the shogun fight? it looked like...."wow, i'm actually getting hit, shit!!??"

Why is everybody bashing Machida? I had no idea that when a fighter puts up ONE bad fight they suddently become hasbeens. This is the only fight he's been in recently that he was even CLOSE to losing...I remember when GSP got KTFO by Matt Serra, and nobody was bashin him, yet his ass lost via TKO. Did that make Matt the better fighter? GSP had a bad fight, same with Machida...At least give him the rematch to prove himself before u start bashin the man like he's trash.

VValrus man you've got a really good point. I think what's going on here is a lot of misdirected hate. A lot of people are mad at the judges of the UFC, after that fight I wanted to go kick Cecil Peoples or whatever his name is in the leg 1000 times since he feels they don't count. Also there is a little bit of anger at Dana for not stepping behind the real guy who won, but oh well this rematch better be straight up though. I like Machida, I think he is an amazing, and yeah he had a bad fight!

Funny u say that...didn't GSP get a immediate rematch after getting KNOCKED THE FK OUT by Matt Serra? Where were all you fking haters then? This isn't even close to the worste decision i've seen in the UFC yet I see so many hardcore haters...seems to me like all the Machida haters are just starting to pop up cuz they FINALLY have a reason to talk shyt...This sport has some of the worst critics...anyways, to hell with ur opinion, plenty of fighters get title shots prematurely, including shogun.

I agree man. Alot of people are hating on Machida for no reason. Machida doesn't make the decisions, the judges do but even still. If you've been watching UFC over the years now, it's not @all impossible to see why the judges picked Machida. I don't get how even the dumbest fans can hate Machida. He's a fuckin savage but an incredible artist as well. He was born to fight & that's what he's been doing since he was 3. Shogun's also insane but IMO Machida's a bit more talented. Not by much

dont talk about GSP. hes a cheater and has no class for not admitting it. the fight between Penn, he was using Vaseline on his body and gave Penn no grips. and then lied about it and said penn was just nagging. i know GSP would prob beat Penn, but i want to see a fair fight! i no longer have respect for Gsp for lying about that. instead he should of just say sorry to Penn and let it be
