  • Damn I wish there were acts like this today....well dressed, great voices, harmonies.....no baseball caps, no pants falling down, no RAP CRAP!!

  • you are absolutly right!

  • @glsingle -- I much agree. Music during and around the era of The Manhattans -- Love songs, life songs, troubled songs, they all made sense -- you could dance and sing-a-long. Comedian Steve Harvey in 'Kings of Comedy" - says it best -- about music in that era

  • cresci ouvindo esta canção. ela faz parte da minha vida.

  • 68 ss chevelle, drive in movies, aaahhhh those were the good ol days :)

  • This is one of the best songs ever. Too many of us can relate to it, my parents used to play it on the 45 all the ime when I was a kid. I love this song!

  • This is one of the best songs of the 70's!! Nostalgia for my childhood. Awesome to see them doing it again almost 30 years later!! Gerald Alston still has what it takes. Fantastic voice!

  • What great music, remember this in the good old days when I lived in London!

  • I guess we all miss our youth when you hear real class singing like this. And I say again real class like this. So R&B and rap please take lessons from the real masters of soul and r&B who are amounst others the Manhattans. Their soulful singing is class yours is not. Long live real soul music and long live real classics. Fantasitc stuff Manhattens and take a bow darylhsu

  • Eles tem algum dvd lançado? gosto muito de "forever by your side"

  • God, I miss my youth! These were the good ol' days. "sigh"

  • very good!!!!!

  • many many years........and I still miss you

  • quarter of a century later wasnt it?

  • I just love it when Gerald Alston comes in after Blue Lovett's spoken intro, so smooth.

    These guys are good.

  • Oh my god this song die my soul...really so so beautiful...a great classic!!!

  • absolutely amazing!

at sometime,we all hear a song that leaves us breathless.

    this is mine!

    great post.

  • Does anybody know where this performance was?

  • Pure class.

This is when black men had god given talant

  • My musical interests actually lie between the 50's and mid-60's but this is gorgeous and timeless!!!

  • 70's forever. We will never forget the music you gave us

  • soooo awesome signing on LIVE

what a good singers , what a good song

  • this song is amazing and the singer is very nice at vocals..

  • What a classic song performed by a brilliant group of artists. I grew up with this song... when it used to be the last song to be played in every home party. Dancing cheek 2 cheek with your teenage crush to this song was so amazing. I just don't this type of music ever to be overshadowed or die. I hope modern Motown will continue to continue produce performers of this caliber.

  • This is just absolute class and one of the best and souful songs god breath to. I really really don't want R&B and rap anymore, I just want songs and artists like the manhattens. They are what black soul music was really was about. Ladies and gentle, The manhattens enough said. No not enough said, this is just fab and out of this world.

  • this is class

  • Now THAT IS SINGING!!!

  • Isnt that Gerald Alston?

Great video thank you so much for posting it.

  • THIS IS SOOOOOO SOULFUL ! I wish that this real music can come back ! ;(

  • os melhores... a musica é demais

  • Uaaauuuu... THAT is music. Not this shit people are used to listening to nowadays. Although I'm 23, I just love them. I grew up listening to The Manhattans (at the time of CD players) and it's going to be in my IPod forever. They're just classical. I wish I could listen to them singing personally one day.

PS: I love the oldest one. He's so cute!!! Looks like our grandpa!!! :)

  • where was this song performed ??

  • damn!!!!!!!

this is why they are legends!!!

    amazing lead vocals.

  • I used to see the Manhattans live well before this song. I first saw them in 1967 in the Otis Redding Summer Show of Stars. Later, i saw them in '68, on the chitlin circuit. (Not bad for a white guy.) They used to do all their choreography and their precision hand moves wearing white gloves. I'm sorry they dropped that. They were elegant. I wish I could see these more recent videos with the gloves. It was unique and special.

  • This was back when men were Gent's. I miss this music so much. Singers today don't give us fans our money's worth (But they sure will take it anyway).

  • Cantam..MuitOo...

  • actualy threre are 5 of them but george smith died he had a brain tumor

  • great live version of a great song from a great band.

  • Are these the original Manhattans? No matter, they still sound great, 30-some years later. What great voices...still strong!!!

  • Yes, the lead singer Gerald Alston and the one who does the intro Blue Lovett are from the original Manhattans. You can recognize them playing the same roles in their old video from the 70's also on youtube. Still sound great, still the same choreographed moves, but sadly for us ladies the white jumpsuits are gone now. ;-)

  • what does he says in the beginning?

    god bless TVS?

  • PBS

  • i thought they were 5 boys back then??

anyway their voices are still awesome and the songs sounds beautiful <33

  • Yeah that might be the case, but Boyz II Men represented Motown well

  • I know Berry wasn't in charge, but Boyz II Men were still at Motown, when they had a special they said the motown acts were the greatest to walk the Earth and they showed the top motown artists and Boyz II Men was one of them,go to motown website and you will see that Boyz II Men was on motown

  • Boyz II Men were on Motown

  • BLACKstreet boys ;)

  • man i appreciate music b4 my time. LOVE THIS SONG!!!

  • I love this song

  • im 16 years old and i think this song is so beast, black people have such good voices, whoever this guy is, too bad barry white is dead, and werent the manhattans a 5 person group?

  • The ORIGINAL Manhattans were 5 members, but they have performed with only 4 since 1980. The Original O Jays were also a 5 member group in their early days but many people only have seen them with 3

  • yeah may he rest in peace but what does Barry White have to do with the Manhattans?

  • It's nice to see some younger people watching and commenting. Anyone can appreciate singing like this.

  • recordar é viver, que bom momentos foram vividos nestes anos, os bailes de rostinho colado, o ponche, e tudo mais. saudades. Parabens pelo video.

  • THE MANHATTANS are and always will be the best

  • So called "singers" take note like Justin Timberlake and whoever else, this is how you are suppost to sing... amazing
