  • the concept of this is very simple but only with real imagination could you design such a fantastic machine, We have made cam toys at school before so this is just a lebel up. Thanks

  • hey, I'm looking into making wooden toys for my son and for a hobby, do you recommed any good books to read about the basics for toy making?

  • That's neat, I downloaded the designs but they're missing dimensions, (unless I'm being slow), the diameter of the circular cams, and the distance of the dowel shaft holes from the edge of the cam. I couldn't find them on the diagram or in the text. It's too bad as I'm excited to make some of these machines for Christmas gifts.(It's nice to start early because I always forget somebody). Thank you for posting these videos, they're quite a resource.

  • These are scroll saw patterns. The pattern is designed to be applied to the wood and cut from the pattern. You really do not need dimensions for the cams. Don't let that hold you back because it really is a fun project to build. I know of close to 100 people that have built this project from the plans. If I made these plans look like technical drawings 90% of my readers would never try them.

  • i'm make me one of that

  • Great stuff. I am just about to make one of similar design. Some of the Jap ones are pretty cool too.

  • So cool. I wish I had woodcutting skill.

  • this is pretty awesome...i wish i found this before i had to make my automata ;p

  • wow thats a pretty clever design
