  • this should have 54 million views. it gets no better. when i was a little child, i thought she was a real life african queeen. when i got older i realized.. all black women were african queens!

  • Chaka Khan the last in the line of Classic Rhythm & Blues female vocalists.

  • real music thedont make em like this anymore

  • Classic!

  • Two people never been to Hollywood

  • Let's not forget the band behind the woman, RUFUS! Just like MAZE & Frankie Beverly they go together.

  • Never knew this was Chaka Khan, learn something new everyday! They would play this like on Saturdays on the Urban Contemporary station in the early 90's, guess they had a program where they would play those golden oldies. Well, at least they did for a while. Anyway, this was one of the songs I used to love listening to. It's just so soulful, and that's what I dug about it:)

  • Great song from a great album. For some reason whenever I hear this song I think of the final scene in "Car Wash" around quitting time. Dusk in Hollywood always seemed surreal. Amazing post.

  • Rufus was one bad ass band and Chaka was at her best when she was with them. Just my opinion.

  • love that song.

  • lovely track...Chaka is so beautiful

  • @blkmoet27 Brilliant job with the images! You captured the pure beauty of Chaka.

  • CHAKA KHAN IS ONE SINGING CHICK. NUFF SAID

  • Chaka Khan is an amazing artist with a great talent that has stood the test of time. Her music/songs are classic. She is one of the best entertainers of all times. The memories I have, I hold them dearly. Those were the good old times of joy & laughter, peace & love. Wow! Thank God I had the chance to experience those days.

  • The photo's that where selected for the track was marvalous nice style

  • I love me some Chaka Khan. This is my favorite song of all. I remember it when i was young & it stayed with me along with others. It was my mothers' evening ritual to play Chaka Khan,Tyrone Davis,The Soul Children,The Spinners & plenty others. Old school music is simply the best ever!!! The neo-soul artists(India.Arie,Angie Stone,Marsha Ambrosius & others) are the closest that comes to old school music.

  • only Chaka could pull this one off she is one talented awesome sista!!!

  • I love me some Chaka Khan. This is my favorite song although I love them all. It's just something about "Hollywood" that takes me away. Im loving it.

  • Rufus hit #32 in Billboard, 6-18-77. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Classic. I love Chaka so much.

  • Classic lyrics

  • how can u sit still hearing a jam like this. this is quality grade A music.

  • Thanks for taking the time to contribute some really good music.

  • I love this song/Favorite! This is good talent & good music. I remember the album with the big lips on the cover. This is a classic song & group. I play this song on my way to work. at work & from work. I play it at home. Got to have my old school music because it's simply the best music ever made & no other music compares or can stand up to it! Love it!

  • YALLL DONT HEAR IT!!!!!

  • @mizzjuicy38 AAAAWWWWW yes we do-LOL and it sho sounds righteous!

  • Classic Rufus/Chaka Khan! You just can't go wrong.

  • I listen to this song everyday/My favorite!!! I heard it on the radio Sunday & it felt like old times again, when life was simpler & fun was had for close to free. WOW! The memories are classic, nothing compares to the good old days. There are No comparisons to the talent.

  • Oprah please get your hand off of Chaka's breast!!! She does not get down like that!!!LOL!!!

  • Chaka to me has always had this hypnotic mesmerizing mystical all knowing earth mother sound!!!

  • @TyjaluvsChaka well put! Never thought of it that way but she is definitely magical!!! My favorite singer of all time.

  • I didn't even know Khan used a vibratto till I listened to the part about painted faces!!! Her voice is so agile it's crazy!!! It doesn't sound like a vibratto at all!!!

  • Chaka! The Queen of Funk, and R&B!

  • One word ""SMOOTH"" !!!!

  • One of the most interesting grooves of all time. Everything vocally is understated and casts a strange spell-like feeling; ultra fabulous. But it is the platform for rather "painful" lyrics that talk about things not all that pleasant.....and yet the music is incredible, just incredible - Chaka's vocal artistry making it come alive (check out her classic unreal close-out at the end).

  • def thought i aint knw nthn about this until i listened 2 it!!!! i love it its timeless

  • The Queen of R&B herself Chaka Khan, so sweet & relaxing, mind blowing she is, a definite Diva Supreme. This song reminds me of soaking in a steamy hot bath, and afterwards gettin' a full body massage.

  • AMAZING....Timeless, Classic, Diva Deluxe

  • There is simply no such thing as a bad Chaka Khan song.

  • Chaka Mad!

  • i love this song

  • one of my Chaka favorties...thanks.

  • DREAMY !!!!!!!!!

  • Zero dislikes!

  • He sure did....and as he was singing...I was instantly sitting on the front porch of the house I grew up in, with the hi fi on blast and my daddy hollering.."turn that music down"! Those were the good old days!

  • Chaka is my girl!! Love this!!!!!!! It was so good to see El DeBarge back and sounding good!!! There will NEVER be a sound soooo good like ole skool R&B!!!!

But you HAVE to have TALENT!!!!!!!!!!! Big shoes to fill---Show them Chaka how its done!!!!!

  • Man....I really miss this music! The memories....oh the memories....the best era ever!

  • @pbynum1000 Same here! El DeBarge killed did a good job remaking this on UNCF.

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!

  • I love it!!! This song is my favorite & I can't help listening to all day sometimes. I listened as I took the christmas decorations down today. Yeah, I know it's early but, the thrill is gone & I'm just not in the mood for all the lights & yard figures. This song uplifts my mood. I just need to go down memory lane a little more. It feels good & I need this extra boost. I feel better already. Amazing!!!

  • What can i say it's Chaka! Discovered by Stevie Wonder and i believe her combo of range tone ,control and power may be unmatched. Trophy80

  • ooh i love it!!!

  • I live about 10 minutes from Hollywood and I see so many people come out here thinking their gonna be the next Janet, Beyonce, or Halle. And most end up homeless, strung out on drugs, or waiting tables for the rest of their lives. Hollywood is more than just pretty faces, fame and money.

  • @doomeaction WOW !...they could have just stay their buts back here @ home in Chicago & just did all that shit U just mention at ease....but they tried 2 make it thats good...GOD bless their soul...U know most of the famous people there are from Da Chi & New York....hell that shit kinda remind me of the five heartbeats Eddie Caine !!!

  • i love this song:)

  • amazing i can remember this song in my head as a 7-8 year old in the 70's AMAZING!!!!!

  • Yes beautiful song, reminds me of Stompin at the savoy! I know this was earlier But It touched me in a ole School way!!Niiice! good quality too...

  • WOW, this sure takes me back to my high school days!! This has always been my favorite song by Chaka!! It still sounds just as good now as it did years ago; thanks for posting and bringing back some great memories!!

  • you are so welcome....

  • @blkmoet27 I love this song by CHAKA! Thank You so much for uploading, you have great taste in music and your upload is nice and clear! :)

  • @shorty1ification AMEN!!! Memeories are a wonderful thing. I too think this is the best song Chaka & Rufus did. It's so special to me because I always wanted to go to hollywood & be a big star. I just didn't have the nerves. WOW!!! I love this music & always will. I listen on a daily basis. I have it on my ipod & I take it every where I go. Have to have it. Old school music is the BEST because of the memories. Blessings to memories.

  • @myhappyness1 Yes, I totally agree!! There is nothing like old school music! That was when artists sung from the heart, and they made great music which made us laugh, cry, think, and get through some hard times. That's what I love about Lady Chaka; she has always been one of my favorite female artists!! She's always had a style of her own; just like Michael Jackson, he had his own style, and NO ONE will EVER replace him!!

  • @shorty1ification Yes!!! That's what good music is all about. Todays' music is fun not memorable. As soon as the song ends, that it. If This song came on the radio, you would remember some of things you wore, did or a dance that was the dance back in the day. You certainly would dance. This is classic music & it always put me in a good mood. I was in the yard this morning & this song came on & I did a little partying, yes I did. Lovi it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blessings.
