Just for all those movie haters out there, Douglas Adams actually wrote the script for it himself before he died, I've seen it, and it's pretty much exactly the same as the movie. So, saying you hate the movie, is saying hate the script that Douglas Adams wrote himself. Give the movie a little bit more appreciation! Although I do live the rest, the books, tv show etc. And, this song's good too!

Douglas died 2001, the movie was made 2005. How the hell would he be able to cast anyone when he only was there for the beginning of the screenplay? He might have had some ideas when they did began doing the screenplay, but I assure you he wasn't there for the actual casting. Get your facts straight.

Many people read the books and then saw the show and thought "that is what the characters are supposed to be like." but for a new generation or readers like myself (I'm 13) who saw the movie first that is how the characters are supposed to be. Since it is a book with no illustrations and 2 completely different adaptions (when it comes to characters) the way they look is anyone's opinion.

"Marvin I Love You" is available on the Dr Demento CD "The Best of Dr Demento.

According to Wikipedia, it was the B-Side of a song called "Reasons to be Miserable," which I've never heard. There was also another single, "Marvin/Metal Man."

These singles were released in the UK by "Marvin The Paranoid Android," but I've never heard any of the other songs, since I live in the USA.

I discovered this song by accident when I bought the Dr Demento CD.

That's something that always confused me. People keep saying that Adams helped with the movie, but the thing is that he died in 2001 and the production year of the movie was 2005. It's quite improbable that he was very involved then, is it not? Of course he might have accepted the manuscript or something of that sort, but the majority of the production, and therefor the majority of the decisions, took place after his death. What am I missing here?

He helped write the screenplay itself, which was written in 2000. Movies can take up to half a decade to make, and this one did.

Alot of the new jokes in the movie he actually wrote, so it's all still his material, just in a new shiny box.

It was originally a radio series.. the definitive IMO. Then book, then TV series, then more books. All the versions are different and have different endings. Douglas loved to confuse! (the old Marvin has a cameo in the movie)

David Learner WAS Marvin. Not only did he do the voice for the radio and TV version, he also wore the robot suit on the TV version.

I do admit to not being fully satisfied with Marvin's new look in the movie, but David Warner did a great job on the voice.

Wow I totally screwed that up. lol Stephen Moore was the radio and TV voice. David Learner was the voice for the stage version (but he wore the suit in the tv version). AND it was Alan Rickman who did the voice in the movie.
