I believe you are right about me being close to 21, but you are wrong about not being good enough to give advice. My form def. fell apart around the 2nd turn and wasnt even good to start with. Im still sorta new to the event and still gaining alot of understanding. When more advanced people start worrying about technical things, sometimes they lose sight of basic stuff. Even though we are all at different places in our developement, it doesnt mean beginning people can't provide good insight.
@delmole85 You have a lot of talent and more distance in you IMO. My first observation is that your right foot is taking too long to get around -- it seems as if you are in single support for 190 degrees of your left foot for every turn. You know that the right foot should come off the circle a little earlier each time, but it came off 90 degrees (perfect), then over 90 degrees (uh oh), then under 90 (recovery).
Third, you had no leg extension/power before release as you were apparently back on your heels. You must be a big talent to throw > 20 meters with these mistakes -- I'd say you have 22-23 meters in you. (I'm a 50 something old thrower/coach.)
I really appreciate the comments. I'm definitely going to start working of those points. I actually don't really even train. just got o meets and sort of wing it... Now that I've got something to work on, I might be a in the circle a little more now
You're welcome. It's that second turn that's got the slow right foot. Somehow, you catch up on the third -- but then you are spinning too far back on your heels. I'd say practice rushing the second turn foot and holding yourself ramrod strong at the moment before release -- and drive your legs straight on the way up.
I would like to thank you for your comment, but i can't really advice you use my form as a good model to emulate... I land to hard on my right foot on every turn. I dont elevate my hips at the release. I over-rotate at the end and jerk my head back until the I almost whiplash myself. If i can ever clean up my form I'll try to get a good video put on here. Good luck with your training.
i no it might not look perfect to u,but its better then where im at, even though its my first year. but plz if u ever get a chance put up another video. I feed off of throwing videos. :) thanks again
Thanks! Yeah, im a grad assistant there now. It a good situation becasue i means i dont have to pay my loans from undergrad off and i get free travel to meets and whatnot. How are you doing this year? Sorry we never got a chance to practice. I had to work soo much last summer i never really threw
Oh it's cool, I dind't get to throw much this summer either. I've been doin alright, I mean I haven't pulled my back yet so it's a moral victory. Hopefully I'll be high 50's to low 60's by the time the season gets rolling. That GA thing sounds pretty awesome, I know a couple of my friends are doin that this year too. I might try that next year. You guys practicing over break? I have a weight shoes and a glove but nowhere to train or lift yet.
Looks good, but you might not be transferring your weight from single to double, making a really hard right foot stomp. So I'd say go more left if that makes sense.
I agree, Thanks for the advice. Im gonna try to fix where my head is too in the comming months. I checked out your videos, You look like you are doing really well for someone who is just starting
yeah tell me about it(abut the finish thing)! i just started training for the 3 turn more i was working on just pushing from 270-0 today and was going about 54 -58 not trying to finish on them. I am still toooooo slow. I cant wait to see what happens when you go to work with Larry. keep me posted with vids if you have any over break, and i will try and do the same
Thanks, Im sorry i didnt have much to really say about your vid. You really arnt doing much wrong. I think its just a matter of keeping constant force on the ball and really getitng hte thing going. Ive gotta figure out this release thing though before christmas break is over though
Fucking awesome dude. You can learn alot from going slow, seems like you had to much weight on your Right Leg when getting into double support phase on the last turn I think you have been able to stick the delivery better if you kept more left. I see you throwing alot farther real soon.
You are completely right. Im also trying ot start the release well before i should be even thinking about it. My head starts whipping back before i even get close to releasing it. Im basically just yanking the crap out of it. Thats working for the moment though cuz I've gotten soo much stronger this year. hopefully you are right and the form improves
I disagree about the finish...he spikes it and cuts it short...it has very extreme highs and lows and if he could have kept a longer radius in relation to his hips he could've thrown much farther.
second and last is like a discus rotation :o :D!
