  • gotta love Pino's playing.....he makes anybody sound good!

  • Look at the people! Wow!!!

  • most of his songs aren't for me, but his guitar playing is always prime. Waiting on the world to change........yeah, me too man

  • anyone no what guitar he is using?

  • @AceAirhead Pretty sure thats the dot studio!

  • ta se vazda kreveljis

  • I got two words for this guy: Phony Douchebag

  • @TheFrogman117 I have two words for him too... real talent.

  • @TheFrogman117 two words for you: classic troll

  • 2:56

  • there should be more musicians out there like him .

  • @crazysynyster do you think there is some other that asked to his parents lend school for be the whole day playing guitar, and his parent got to taake him to the psycologic 2 times...

  • He needs to take the stupid hipster glasses off, other wise good performance.

  • I was never much of a fan of John Mayer until he started doing the Trio stuff. Now he's one of my favorite players. And I like the way he shows so much respect for all the players that influenced him.

  • it appears the solo nulled his brain

  • I thought John was a Fender artist?

  • @Crodon He has a collection of approximately 500 guitars, so I guess he has collected all the Fender models, and started on collecting other brands too!:p

  • @t0onsmusic He's endorsed by Fender. That's what I meant.

  • I really like this guy, he is amazing, but this solo is not his best, in my opinion, me did a couple of mistakes, sorry guys, dont kill me :-( Anyway, he is an amazing player!

  • @Opiti72 Ain't no mistakes in blues/jazz

  • sex.

  • Great cover.

  • "Beast Mode" lol totally true

  • is he thinking about Taylor Swift?

  • Love the way he is having some kind of seizure everytime he starts singing haha.

  • mr palladino keepin it tight and sweet!!!!!

  • 1:24

Is impossible to say that John is not good playing the blues with a solo so amazing like this *.*

  • thumbs up

  • Amazing!

  • sunglasses by reason of weed

  • @opman or for the sun??

  • @MrWillyMusic no.....defintiely weed lol

  • 2:20 - 2:44 <3

  • pino palladino on the bass!

  • FUEGO

  • never realized he had a sleeve.. but this will always be bill withers' song

  • he got nasty on the guitar!

  • I hear BB King all over the place. Nice performance by young artist. He will bi great.

  • OMG what can i say, when he improves, performes a good song like this a get to heaven...

  • Sexy, level John Mayer

  • Okay, I haven't read this comment about John being a crap player. But to the person that wrote that: How about you make a video and show us your skill? Perhaps that way you can actually make sense of your "argument". (Though I honestly doubt it)

  • @3:25 , Chills every fucking time.

  • Who picked their guitar after watching this trying to copy the chords?

  • Anyone who things John Mayer is an "average" guitar player has probably never picked up a guitar in their life.

  • @lsdman14 I couldn't agree more.

  • @lsdman14 Amen Brother!

  • @lsdman14 yes, he even wanted to lend the school for be the whole day playing guitar, and his parents took him to the psycologic

  • sunglasses=stoned

  • /watch?v=16AnGcB7MHA

    Mayers version is bland ...

Freddie is the real deal .

  • @holographicsentience Freddies version definitely has more soul than mayer will ever have. But I still prefer John Mayers playing.

  • first off love this cover ......i saw the stupid comment below about mayer being stupid and only being famous because he is white ......the humor here obviously is because the first time i ever saw john mayer was on chappelle's show and the first time i got interested enough to buy his music was after reading a rolling stone interview with kanye west...... it was for the graduation album and kanye said all he had been listening to lately was continuum . except waiting on the world .....

  • @cristi10368 If you are saying John Mayer and his trio don't have soul, then you're ignorant. It's the 21st century. Do you honestly still think there is a color barrier in ANY form of music? If you do, you have some learning to do. The fact he has a pop career doesn't make him obsolete in other genres.

  • Thank goodness we still have artists like him nowadays

  • and he gets a great sound out of that wonderful ES335

  • STOP DOING THAT TWITCHY THING WITH YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU SING HOLY CHRIST

  • I love all blues guitar players but John Mayer I could listen to the most.

  • E falando em monstros soltos no palco do Crossroads Festival...

  • I want that guitar so bad

  • bit of a reggae feel. love it.

  • I hear so much of SRV from Johns playing.

  • you should play hava nagila white boy and let black music to those who have enough soul in their belly ... the problem is you gave your best and it just come a shit out of you ... LOL and thats sad ... LOL

  • @cristi10368 just a really dumb racist comment. I got a boat and somewhere to send you, but I'm not sure they would take you back with that attitude.

  • @nolamyke what is racist on that what i wrote ? im really thinking there are white men and black men and they are making different kind of music . and im also thinking i have a right to free opinion . or im obligate to like this shit ? it disturbed me as i was looking for aint no sunshine and i ve found this horror. and he got a dislike from me . in my opinion this guy is not an artist but just a stupid kid . and i really like stings version of the song . so dont talk about racism .

  • @cristi10368

Racism is implied when you bring his race into the comment. That's just common sense. Would you rather me say, "This dumb girl." or "This dumb black girl?"

  • @jjinhualiu so you mean if i would said bill withers is the best black musician that i ever heard , that would be racist too ? you all might know I AM WHITE . you can see on my channel . you have no sense of reality . and you cant accept the truth about your self . and there are black men and white men doing music on a good way . but i never saw a bed black musician that become famous but a lot of whites . so i think this stupid white boy got famous just because he is white . . .

  • @nolamyke please feel free to do what you like about that . cause i dont like to take it from you . so please dont forgive me ... LOL

  • Dope, check out my videos

  • i thought he had a stroke at one point he was only moving one part of his mouth D:

  • Hang on......stage right. THAT's da man. Pino what a God !

  • Gminor, Cminor, Dminor?

  • gotta give john some props for the billy withers throw back :)

  • John is one of the best guitar players alive and probably the best of his generation playing the blues...

  • this is one of john's best solo's ever, tasty as SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTT!

  • the drummer deserves at least as much respect as John !

  • @SarathiMarica Steve Jordan is a Boss.

  • Man that John Mayer is poison on guitar!

  • love you john mayer

  • Comment removed

  • anyone have a tab for the solo? I keep picking up bits and pieces here and there... damn camera crew for not showing his hands on certain parts

  • @ampensgoalie35 use your ear, you will develop as a player much better

  • PINO!

  • I wish I was hammered in that crowd with a big doob!

  • @TheSwisherManCan Don't we all !

  • Great version of this song

  • He's amazing he's just tantaliizing whether he sings blues, pop, rock , rap whatever he's the epitome of what a musician is suppose to encompass- captivating, bold, daring, soulful, but most importantly he exudes the genuine love for music and expressing the music to the best of his god given ways

GOD BLESS JM he is a soundtrack to life, especially in todays times the music is so distorted and technologized he takes it back to the way it was, keeps it rhythmaticianed

  • LOL at all these comments. John may not be the greatest blues guitar player, but he has gotten respect from them. He has played with BB King and Eric Clapton. That's enough for me. And, he probably is decently responsible for keeping blues alive in these generations, because teens hear his popular music, look into all his music, find something like this, and then guess what? They go and listen to more blues artist. I'm thankful for him. And he's got heart. That's how the blues started anyway...

  • @SlothhZzz Amen to that, sir.

  • @SlothhZzz you just descripted how m starting listening to blues ;)

  • @SlothhZzz Disagree with that. In my opinnion John creates like a new blues subgenre. He`s just playing he`s blues solos different than most of blues man`s. If he had to, he would create legendary classic blues solo.

  • @SlothhZzz yes thanks god that I'm 13 and I can listen to this, just like sonny boy williamson, and many others goos music's artist... (my parents are musicians I think that is the reason)

  • @SlothhZzz I think that maby he is the best guitar player but not blues guitar player, cuz when he was young, he loved so much the guitar that he wanted to lend the school for devote all of his time to the guitar and his parents got him to the psychologist...

    awesome

    cute

    improver

    good guitar player

    gotta love him...

  • @SlothhZzz whaaat? john mayer is one of the best blues players around

  • @SlothhZzz His guitar technician was Stevie Ray Vaughns guitar tech...thats all that needs to be said about his ability. Great post ^

  • i liked how he performs with so much heart. it feels like he lets his guitar do the talking instead of singing throughout the song. that's an awesome performance.

i think people are letting @debtcare1 enjoy the day. just let him be.you're just adding fuel to the fire.

  • Hahaha

  • if mayer fcked my gf it would make me love her more

  • @AKESEBA Holy SHIT! I've NEVER laughed so hard at a youtube comment!

  • @AKESEBA gavat mısın arkadaşım.

  • @AKESEBA gay

  • @AKESEBA That is too funny!! lmao

  • Well guys it tends to make my eye twitch when I see posts that say things like " Best Solo I have every heard" Most Tastefull Lick" The Blues Man of our generation" it would be treason to not state that these comments are ebmellisehd.. and yes Jack White, Clark Jr, and many others will still smoke this guy and have way more attitude and feel and orginality in their pink's... still had to say it.

  • @debtcare1 Gary Clark jr is awesome

  • @debtcare1

I just read the first page of comments...and read people bashing you. however, i agree with this particular comment...except, jack white is kind of overrated in my mind. he's got attitude, and the dude can play...but as far as great blues men, he falls short in my mind. i respect him, but he's not the blues man of our generation either.

  • 1:25 might be the most tasteful lick I've heard in my life

  • If we could like the video description it would be the top comment.

  • wow.. cant believe how much love this performance is getting ... just goes to show our young generation does not know much about guitar playing, feel, talent.. Wanna see a talented blues guitarist check out Gary Clark Jr. who is at this same concert. Sorry but seems John is just starting to get into blues.. would not be on this stage if he were not famous for his pop music... all Johns blues stuff is mediocre at best.. Not hatin.. jus sayin.

  • @debtcare1 very bad opinion at that. That guy, Gary Clarkl, is pretty medicore , nothing really special about his phrasing or licks. His music is like the macro-lagers of the world,. Where John is the fine, aged to perfection whiskey.

  • Aged to perfection? John Mayer? I think that's his front Start pickups your hearing which I do agree sound great. All fenders do. But I'm sorry... this guy playing blues is try hard, not authentic, no attitude, forced and horrible beginner licks and phrases..in the intro he bends a note and thinks he's a badass lol... and somebody said on here his solo was good? Horrible. and you are SO wrong about Clark.. go listen to more of his stuff. FARRRR better blues guitar player than John.

  • @debtcare1 ... Also I guess everyone on here forgot about Jack White? Someone who is really keeping blues going in a new way.. Sorry but John trying to be something he is not just really shines through when he plays blues. He is just regurgitating ... Lets see John cover Son House's 'Death Letter' like Jack White did! Dont think so!!

  • @debtcare1 You honestly cant actually believe jack white is better than JOHN MAYER? Jack White is amazing at what he does but its nothing amazing, he has cool riffs here and there but so does John. John has just as much if not more feeling than jack too. Obviously you havent really listened to john if you think jack white is better than him. I'm not talking about who can play crazy things, but just who can put feeling and make the guitar sound great.

  • @lsdman14 I really don't think you can say one is better than the other since they both generally play different styles of music (though they both often play the blues), but have you ever watched Jack White play? he's ridiculous. And if anyone puts more "feeling" into their guitar, i would say its jack white. Watch "It Might Get Loud" or just anything with Jack White in it

  • @debtcare1 it;d likely be the 5th position but thats besides the point. I could say the same about clarkes gear. Your point hasn't been made. We can agree to disagree. As this isn;t a good example of john playing blues and he doesnt play old school blues.

  • @debtcare1 Dude shut the fuck up!! quit your bitching and watch the video!! We get it you know a lot about guitar and your the fucking coolest dude around! now leave and be a cocky prick somewhere else

  • @debtcare1 If he's such a bad player, how come Eric Clapton jams with him regularly and gave him the nickname slow hand jr

  • @debtcare1 GO FUCKING listen to johns stuff, parts of this solo were mean, id love to hear that clark guy play neon, or half the shit john plays,go listen to john mayer.

  • @debtcare1 putting "not hating just saying" at the end of your comment pretty much says it all...No he's not the best blues guitarist ever, nor is he the only one who's really keeping the blues alive; that's for sure. But com'on saying that his blues are mediocre; I think a couple of blues Legends who like to play with him on a regular basis would beg to differ. So it's either they're all sell out, or some of 'em like Mayer's blues. And no offence but I value more their opppinions, than yours

  • this is probably the single most stunning blues solo i ever had the chance to listen to

  • This version is way too sexy

  • sex

  • Talent ? If talent was a requirment half of what you hear now would not exist.

  • this punk is a bitch its not talent that gets you these bookings its marketing so fuck off. This punk isnt fit to wipe Freddie Kings ass !

  • @19thSFGA I'll admit he's a bit overrated, but he's actually a good guitar player. You're right. Not as good as Freddie, Albert, or SRV, but at the very least you could give him some respect for trying to bring the blues back into pop culture.

  • @jonahtran1 I tried but sorry hes not trying to bring anything anywhere he plays what he is told for whatever demographic his keepers are after.Listen to him he knows his scales but listen to his play it is plastic it doesnt have the warmth the heart or the sweat The facts are He just isnt the bluesman he is being sold as or a bluesman period. He should stick to the pop radio music money machine and quit making fun of the blues. But I do appreciate your opinion.

  • @19thSFGA It's not as atrocious as you make it out to be. He may not be a warm, sweet player, but neither was Johnny Ramone. He is a bluesman. He's even said in an interview "I used to listen to Motley Crue etc. etc., but when I heard SRV there was a big regime change in terms of my bedroom posters." He's Jammed with Jeff Beck and many more greats. They wouldn't have invited him if he didn't have something to offer.

  • @19thSFGA : seriously, seriously, couldn't disagree more.

  • @19thSFGA He's not making fun of blues at all.. and that IS talent. it takes talent to play gutair.. and it takes natural talent to sing like he does. but i guess everyone has their own opinion.

  • @19thSFGA im sorry but john mayer has is the blues man of our generation. The man is an amazing guitar player and an even better blues guitar player. He is the possibly the greatest guitar player of our generation. His style of playing has changed over the years in the way that he wanted it to. And i couldnt possibly think of another guitar player in this day and age with as much soul as he has

  • @19thSFGA Fuck off then.

  • Comment removed

  • Think what you will, but John Mayer is the bees knees

  • aint no snapper when shes gone

  • the music is amazing but the quality of compressed audio was bad!

  • Repect where respect is due!!!! That dude is a beast!

  • get so sick of people saying this(my favorite guitar player)is better than whose in the video,if you don't like him don't click on the video,if he wasn't a great guitar player he would not be at this show, and there is no such thing as the best guitar player, that

s like saying there's a best looking woman in the world.one you get to a point of skill it;s a matter of taste in what you like to hear.

  • In which scale is the solo?

  • @lithox01

most likely a flat minor pentatonic. box 2 + 3.

  • @donkitphp thanks :D

  • @lithox01 G- pentatonic

  • HD my ass

  • aint no sandwich when she's gone

  • @BrittWissmann Ha!

  • appears he's wearing the sunglasses of the dolly he banged the night before

  • it's funny how the first year he was at crossroads, he only got to play one song and it was with Eric, but now he gets his own segment.

  • @DearGraceWithLove well he probably played more but they most likely cut it down for the DVD

  • Lol at the douchebag with the Afro at 0:41

  • Love the way his body is flowing in this one

  • worst blues player

  • he should play with gary clark jr again on his tour

  • I love Penis Palladino, especially when he strokes that heavy bass of his.

  • Does it get any better, awesome voice, awesome guitar skills, awesome face. I dont think so

  • he could perform here out of my mind.

  • I don´t give a sht about who´s better, it´s good music. besides it´s Clapton´s festival and Clapton is god. period.

  • Clapton 10 x 0 Mayer. If you watch the entire crossroads festival you realize that jeff beck is better than him, clapton, bb king, sonny landreth, zz top..

  • well i've seen better, sorry

  • I'm a fan of John, but Pino and Steve are some bad motherfuckers. those two are some of my favorites watch live.

  • @bioniz dude, you're a fail.....

  • @hollisterrboii LooooooL you're harsh man xD

  • I put my movie on pause just to watch this porn... TOTALLY worth it.

  • does anyone know how to do that thing where he's slapping the guitar at 2:57?

  • @dipsetallday75 YEAH IT'S CALLED PRACTICE.......LIKE jOHN DID....really.... I did this year's ago..?,do you even know who sing's this song..??Bill Withers..

  • @dipsetallday75 He's slapping the note one octave higher than the note he's fretting.
