I like the sound clean enough to play Johnny Marr's riffs (the smiths) but I want something versatile enought to play the raw riffs of Neil Young and black keys. I'm also a big fan of Pink Floyd(yeah, stratocaster, I know, but they're pretty darn ugly imo)
@invictorium Hi I have a 62 RI Jazzmaster I love it. On mine I poped the arm in the hole and pulled it back out just until it stays put. I like to be able to just reach down with my finger and hit the trem as I need it. Hope it works for you.
These are great guitars. Tunning handled really well compared to my strats. I never cared for the alternate switching. Too mellow/thick. The only problem I had was the strings flopping off the bridge when I played hard. I just added a buzz stop, 11 gage strings and that solved that problem. I played this with a Fender Vibroluxe & a Kalamazoo from Lovepedal. Sounded nice! Unfortunately some butt monkey stoled my jazzmaster from me a few days ago. :( I'll get one again one day.
I recently modded ny jazzmaster with Curtis Novak pickups, and now it is the best sounding guitar I've ever heared. A P-90 for the bridge, and vintage style JM-pickup for the neck. I also added a tune-o-matic bridge, because the stock bridge kept falling apart, and was only a handicap for the guitar. And, I only tune it every 14th day or so. It's crazy. And, I play really agressive stuff like Hendrix, Nirvana, White Stripes , or The Doors. I use the tremolo allot too. I absolutley LOVE JM's!
Thanks for the demo. I have the exact same guitar, color and all. My question for you is what strings do you have on it? Brand, gauge, nickel or nickel plated steel, flatwound or round wounds? Thanks.
hello, cool vindeo! can you do a video in wich your playing a lil louder? so i can see what tones you get out of this by strummiing in different ways? also in different picups pleaz thanks.
If nothing else, It wouldn't sound bad if you played metal on it. look up "jazzmaster shred" It just looks a bit out of place. But Make sure to get a buzzstop to keep your strings in place and for sustain. Blues definitely, and rock. It has a sweet fuzz-crunch.
I didnt have to tune my Jazzmaster for more than 2 weeks now and use the whammy a lot and play kind of aggresive. So I would say they can be really good in that point! No special bridge installed. :)
the intro was very arctic monkeys favourite worst nightmare album sounding :)

Xxtomzda1xX, it depends on what type of blues and rock you are talking about. However, I would not reccomend this guitar for shred/metal.

nice bright pickups.
Do you find the jazzmaster stays in tune, or with frequent use of tromollo arm, it falls out of tune?.

My jazzmaster stay in tune for a good period but i order a mastery bridge and i sure with this bridge my guitar stay alot more in tune.
