@Robalose You don't need air for a missile to work - forward thrust is created by gasses ejected out the back, (equal and opposite force forward, no "air" needed to push off of). The exhaust gasses are created by combustion of fuel and oxidizer, both are contained in the missile (no air needed). For steering, the nozzle in the back can be moved, which re-directs the exhaust, causing the missile to change direction. Think about it - the Space Shuttle is basically a huge space missile, right?

@maixck Right, it would have to be rocket powered, as you say. As for the warhead, a conventional explosive would work in space, even gunpowder, believe it or not! Gunpowder is fuel and oxidizer mixed together, with charcoal and sulfur as the fuel, and potassium nitrate (KNO3) as the oxidizer...
@ephillips2008 in newtonian terms F(force)=m(mass)*a(acceleration), then a=F/m witch means, if it has more mass you'll need more force to accelerate it to the same speed, IE you'll need twice the force to accelerate a mass twice as heavy as you than you'll need to accelerate yourself. if you find this hard to undestand, take it this way, do you think you'll be able to move the moon? actually you will, but the acceleration would be so small that it would appear to have no effect :).

Earth and Beyond was a pretty good online space MMO it was fun being the cloaking rescue ship, that could sneak in jump start a disabled ship, and zip out before the monster or bad guys attacked. you could play the merchant , warrior, whatever many routes to play, bad administration ruined that game, and it is no more, maybe someday someone will make EB2
