  • This was a great help. I'm not a fencer by any means, but I've been working on some historical fiction recently and this gave me a much better grasp of what fighting with a sabre would have been like. Obviously these two weren't trying to hurt one another, but seeing the forms and some of the techniques is definitely going to help me.

  • Great sabering guys!

  • There is a video called Classical Saber Lesson, Italian School, which shows a one on one lesson in Italian sabre as taught my Maestro Frank Lurz. The practice sabres in that video are done with a much lighter weapon. Would those techniques work with a heavier sabre such as you're using?

  • @MrPotatoesLatkie The lighter weapons are ok but you will find the techniques are very different. The heavier sabre forces you to use the moulinet correctly. The basic are very similar though.

  • wow this is amazing. those parrys are the best I've ever seen this is epic

  • what gloves do you use, and where can I get them (UK based).

    great video, as always.

  • @cqc75 For sabre we just use police riot gloves. They are reinforced with kevlar but not too thick.

  • What were you using if not Hutton sabres? I have been looking for something more robust since reading a thread Nick contributed to on the Fiore forum on the Hanwei Hutton blades but have been unable to find anything except for Cold Steel's pretty (expensive) military sabres.

  • @ClockworkNeanderthal A mix of Austrian sabres and blades by Alchem in the US. We use the 'curved broadsword blade'.

  • @th7dude When you wrote Austrian Sabres, did you mean a specific brand made in Austria?Or, actual Austrian sabre hilts? Who sells those Austrian sabres?

  • @MrPotatoesLatkie Sadly they are no longer available. The sword are much meatier than the hutton though. Thicker, longer and heavier. More a match for a military sword as opposed to a gymnasium sabre trainer.

  • @ClockworkNeanderthal Cold Steel's Sabres are much less expensive, often closer to $200 at various retailers, like Kult of Athena.

  • @ClockworkNeanderthal Good sabres has also the allstar german company available for sale

  • It was good but id be more impressed if it was on ice.......wait a minute....i have an idea

  • @Kinvalor77 Sabre fencing on ice. Hmm. How about roller skates?!

  • @th7dude ice would be amazing to fence on. Dazzle the crowd and slay your opponet FTW! :)

  • proper swashbuckling
