  • Love the idea of the Bi-Mart clamps. I'm new to the outdoors & bushcrafting, and am gonna put together something similar for my cook kit. Thanks for sharing this vid.

  • Some nifty ideas there, Mike. The lid bulldog clips as lid lamps kinda make me think of the 'oven' in Dave Canterbury's yurt series, just more compact. The twig idea is another new one (to me, at least) i will be taking away. Thanks.

  • Mike, I did something similar with my Clipper. I took a ranger band and put it under the belt clip and now I can just grab the ranger band and stretch it around the handle when not in use. I like it a lot. And its secure and in a hard time the ranger band will burn to help start a fire.

  • hi

  • If you put a smaller bowl or pot in it on 3 stones to keep it raised up to allow the air to circulate you will be able to bake some fresh Bread to go with that.

  • i'm gonna tell your wife about the spoons if you don't share that Ramen! nice vid.

  • Just thinking, oregonmike, that idea would be great to make camp bread in! What do you think?

  • @goldenscales Sure could be done, just have to control the heat.

  • Can you actually lift your cook set with that clip or is it just to slide your pot around?

  • @Set2Survive You can lift it with one while empty using two if it's full.

  • If you put your clamp 'nipples' on your finger and thumb, you can use them like 'potholders' to take the clips off without burning your fingers... (or even to pull your stove off the fire). Thanks for the video, the comedy along the way, and for teaching.

  • great invention, and keep making videos with the the funny subtitles, they are hilarious

  • at first I was like ok, these are pretty neat common modifications, but when you used the twigs in between the second and first bowl, you sold me

i can't tell you howmany times I've had to wait till my food(mainly ramen) was cooled until I could start eating it so the bottom didn't burn my lap

    INGENIOUS!

  • @jkgoet01 Thank you

  • Really inventive! Thank you! I like to reserve a little of the dried noodles and toast them for sprinkling on top. Thanks for showing us!

  • Cool! do learn more knots but you did a kick ass job with what you came up with! can you show a detail of the lower knot that actually touches the knife handle?

  • Cool!

  • That's a great meal kit. You're making the best out of it! Cheers! (I´m subscribing)

  • @AltairDhauglu Thanks for the sub

  • @oregonmikes I just uploaded a vid on making charcloth, could you tell me what went wrong? and please subscribe!

  • Hi - really god set, lots of advantages!

  • Real good idea. I bet you could use it like a dutch oven and cover it with coals. The side clips even fold flush with the sides.

  • love ur vids and ideas for no fuss no fancy gear. i''m a 56 yr old stroke survivor i still bo out in woods a lot just not as far nor fast as b4 but i still love to b in the wooda, eat in the woods.......ty 4 ur gr8 vids........karen ion nova scotia

  • Thrift Tip: pick up a lid at a thrift store. I got an about four cup pot with a lid that more or less fit for $2.00. Also found a fondue heater for $1.00. You'd e amazaed at the stuff you can find and adapt at a thrift store.

  • Awesome!

I have the same bowl.. it was cheap and it works perfectly! I might have to get another one and double stack them. I was thinking that you could put a screen in the middle and steam either wild edibles or some veggies.

  • Great idea Mike! Most people would think they need some fancy $50 pot from REI, but you my friend have shown them that you don't!

  • Mike, I like your mods. Nice set up. The two bowl set up gives you more options. I would still prefer to use the vise grips as a handle. If the clamp you are using for a handle slipped off the rim of the bowl you could easily spill your chow. Just a thought. The small paper clips are a great idea to hold the bowls together.

  • Great sense of humor.

  • 2 bowl method is smart and your Mora method beats mine so I am going with you. Thanks for sharing.

  • great video!!! Never thought about a dog bowl and those clips. Keep the videos coming!! Again good work

  • great video lots of good info! If you get a chance to check out my emergency car kit video I would appreciate any helpful comments you might have. It is one of two kits I keep in the car and am getting ready to redo them and looking for ideas. Loved the ashes on camera demo! hehehe I have done that with the BBQ... love the sling for the knife tip what kind of knot did you use I want to try that!

  • @JimboJitsu That was just 2 overhand knots, I am sure there are better knots. I need to learn more of them.

  • In was racking my brain trying to figure out a handle for my cook kit. Great idea. Just a common clamp! Going to try it. thanks

  • @TheBeeperman Glad you liked it.

  • I like it man, I need to get out there and do some responses to these.

  • Great video, I really like the bowl setup & wanna use it myself very soon.

  • Really good tips Mike. I like the two bowl system a lot.

  • great ideas nice one

  • Nice tip about putting a bowl in a bowl.

  • Brilliant bowl ideas!!!!

  • @huguenot67 Thanks brother

  • Great Idea brother....I would like to see if Banick is easier to cook in this as you could turn it over several times while cooking . Send me a link to the video is you ever make one. Also...dont forget to sub and add me as a friend.

  • Nice vid. Maybe we'll run into each other out there sometime. I try as much as possible to get out of PDX. I hate the city. Keep up the good work!

  • @silverlion1973 Come on down the valley bro.

  • Here's a quick tip for blowing on your coals - get closer and blow longer. You'll stir up less ash and be more likely to get a good flame up. Great vid mate.

  • nicely done, awesome country out there in the NW

  • looks like the dog bowls could work as an oven too

  • Lately I have been tossing a clove of garlic in my meal kit to be tossed in whatever I am cooking. Comes in it's own wrapper ;-) It's light and it adds a lot of flavor to meals.

  • Cool stuff! I like the jerky in the noodles! Nice touch :o)
