  • sergio medes is good although athur verocai is me favourite brazilian artist

  • buen video

    me encanta

    la cancio0nn

hace tiempo que la quiero consegui

    ya la consegui

    jeje

  • NICE collaboration of artists...all 3 of genuises... very commercial song tho..

  • serge had to pay the mortgage. those like myself who have his music from the 60s & 70s all know this is track is weak as dishwater & a far-cry from his customary musicianship...however, i have nothing but love for sergio...

  • I hope Sergio was well paid because he didn't do this for the musicality.

  • He did it because the women in the video :D

    (Just a joke)

  • You aint lying, I could have made this beat

  • Brasilian flag all over this video.

  • Erykah!!!! Stone-cold fox.

  • awesome music guys!!! anyone who says otherwise is artististcally anal .!.

  • you mean "artistically"?

  • my point exatlcy.

  • lol, "exactly"?

  • It's called a typo you semantics whore.

  • Sergio is a real artist these thugs aren't artists therefore I don't need to learn anything about them. The only redeming thing about this is sergio.

  • wow....now Erykah Badu is hardly a thug. Maybe you actually MIGHT wanna learn about them.

  • you don't even know what you're talkin' about. erykah is one of the best singers and songwriters worlwide!

  • super combination! (^_^)

it's that heat that heat that heat!!

  • This groove make you stop and realise that there are other cut's in other cultures, if you just lesson up for them, lesson OUTSIDE the box!

  • Sergio is the real artist and icon in this video

  • 4 for the blaze

  • is this silvio berlusconi on the piano ?

  • sweet Erykah!!!!

  • ottima combinzaione di ritmo!!!

  • NICE COMBINATION.

  • get melloww

  • Erykah is very very nice

  • my summer tune fo show!!!!!

    mellow your soul!!!!

  • I love this song! I can't stop listening to it! The tune is very catchy and makes you want to get up and dance. Erykah Badu's voice is amazing in this song! I Love it!

  • This is such a sexy tune, perfect for a hot summer

  • Your right, its those eyes and her soul she got some soul

  • Think about it, if more traditionalist were around in the early 60's do you think sergio mendes, sly and family stone, beatles, james brown, miles and other ground breaking acts would be allowed to surface. If these arts mentioned were traditionalist, they would all have been doing the typical pat boone or rock sound that was "happening" during that period.

That being said, this song would have worked if it wasn't for the rap.

  • I agree man!

    Brasil 66 is the best!

  • i used to like this song until i went deeper into brazillian guitar and jazz, the rap just ruins it, just doesnt mix, the lyrics just dont go with the sophisticated sound of sergio

  • ms badu was just here in boston. she's great

  • I love Miss Badu, I wish she sung more, and Will shut more lol

  • Well like all great artists, there is a time in their life when they love to experiment, and try new styles. I say good for Sergio for trying something new. May not be as great as his old stuff but its not crap either.

  • simple but perfect

  • This is such a great tune <3 Always puts me in a sunny mood. A perfect match these three. Why don't people make more music like this?

  • the best song i like very muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Damn, I love you miss badu...

  • Nice song :3 Wow and she looks young =. = I wish i look that pretty when i get older>_>;

  • she looks like Rihanna

  • what you should've said was "riahanna looks like badu". even though i don't see any similarities other than their skin color.

  • There's some similarity... It's not something huge but they look a little alike

  • she looks like Rihanna

  • loool

rihanna is the one that looks like Miss Badu!!!!

  • hey, you should applaud them for trying something out of the box. This sounded pretty hot, my opinion as a youngster. So much better than 50 cent or the Game or your average pop culture rap standard. Lets give them some positive reinforcement for being different, and for sounding good!

  • GREAT video!!!!

  • i do agree the song would be good without the rapping. Looking at this I think Erykah has the voice to work with Sergio Mendesin future projects.

  • only want to listen sergio playing the piano.

  • Eu adoro esse cancion

  • Nothing good...

  • Esse swing tinha que ser do meu país!..

o mais tropical de todos que é o Brasil!..

  • I love the 45 seconds with Erykah singing

  • This would be Sooo Goood without...............the drum beat and the rapper.

The mood of the song is spoilt.

How good would it be with just Sergio, his piano, the ladies, a soft percussion and perhaps some sax?

  • you are right... sergio is timeless, Erykah Badu sings well with sergio but Will is overdoing it.

  • At 2:00 she places her hand over Will's yapping mouth...Ha Ha Ha

  • love the video, love the woman singing, love my country brazil, will sucks and is annoying in this one...

  • lol fergie filipino ?!?!??! wtf...

  • putá pututá putuá.

    páu páu pááááuuuu.

  • I just wish Erykah sung a bit more of it and Will didn't rap as much. Perhaps if Sergio sung as well?

  • no she is white too

  • Sergio Mendes é o máximo. Muito boa musica

  • Sou brasileiro e gostei da musica e olha que tem outros brazucas aqui comigo,, seu mane da argentina.. otario do caralho, vai jogar bola com o maradona ..

    haole

  • I am from brazil .. AND MY FAMILY LIKE THIS MUSIC AND THAT'S IT.. BRAZIL LIKE THIS MUSIC DUDE SO DON'T TALK SHIT

  • que jodidos es esta mierda ala verga con el sergio mendez vendido mi pinche coleccion de lps de sergio simplemente no vale lo mismo triste. fuck the black eyed peas music for ignorants

  • You dont know music! Black eye peas been in this business way back in the 80's and pump out good underground music,Then they add that white girl and went commercial and that was the END of them to the real hip-hop heads like myself.

  • Hey. Sergio is still a musical genius. Granted he made a horrible decision to work with the Black Eyed Peas (yuck), but you have to respect him.

  • wtf. ??? !!!!

  • I luv this jam! a very underated tune.. but will always be a nice lil gem for the real music heads.

  • Una manera de rescatar el Sergio Mendes de los años 60 que estaba en el olvido, con dos muy buenas colaboraciones.

  • no more

  • "Timeless" is golden. Sergio has done an honorable job with this masterpiece.

    :)

  • I love this song!!! What are ya'll haters talking about?

This Brazilian wishes there was more collaboration between hip hop and greats like Sergio Mendes. Don't get me wrong, I still like the oldies but goodies as well.

  • no jodas k este tema esta re bien echo chamo ademas esta chevere jeje bueno aguate brasil jeje ciao

  • que puta fumada es esta !!!

prefiero al sergio mendes del bosanova de los años 60. Pero que retroceso...joder..!!!

  • IN 20 years from now, no-one will remember any of these rappers, (just like the 1980s hip-hop artistes are now forgotten).

But in 20, 30 or 50 years from now, Bossa Nova greats like Segio, Tom Jobim, Elis Regina, will still be celebrated. Sorry if I've offended anyone, but the truth does ofend

  • Shut up. Nobody even heard of them but you and whoever else that listens to them.

  • Check it:

Will's beyond hip-hop--he's music. Where you go wrong is when you compare him to the likes of mainstream gimmick rappers and see that he's making vocal rhythm to a song but not putting a melody to what he's saying. Get past that. For you to down him is to down the good judgement of Sergio, Michael Jackson, and all others who've done collabo because he's talented. Consider that.

  • I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU, rgnate. Ignore the persons who gave you negative comments.

It's terrible that our state of music has reached to this depth,to require a rapper to "front" for this fab bossa nova artiste

  • if you filter out some elements this song is pritty good

  • love this song with beat or not beat :P Sergio is awesome ;)

  • o melhor jazz

  • Fortunately Sergio Mendez will always be remembered for his work with the Brazil '66. That stuff will still be played and appreciated when this stuff will be in a landfill.

  • what!!!

  • OK, like Tom Jones he collaborates to stay contempo. This is a good cut. It's Sergio Mendes and the Black Eyed Peas not Brazil whatever. Both incarnations are nice BUT his '66, '77 are what defined him and still what we dig most.

  • According to the Roots song "You Got Me" she's "Ethiopian Beauty"

  • Ethiopia is in Africa and she lives in The Bronx so as they sais she's AFRICAN AMERICAN

  • Erykah isn't the woman referred to in the song, she wasn't even supposed to be on it originally.

  • She's African American.

  • muuuiiiittttoooo legal! : )

  • muitu bom esse clipe

  • BRAZIL *-*.

  • Badu's next album: Feb. 26, 2008!!!!

  • If he'd just rearrange it leaving out all that pathetic rap jive, the rest would be fine.

  • I like rap but this is distracting. They need to take it out

  • I am not a rap (or r&b/soul) fan either, but i like this song, and Erykah is also a good artist....

  • i like... i was feeling this...

  • I think this rap mix with Erika Badhu and (magnifico Sergio Mendes) is pretty good. I usually frown upon rap but this is pretty good. At first I thought this was the Black Eye'd Peas.

  • i love this song

  • Erykah Badu is so sexy.

  • This is great song. It's been severely way too long since I enjoyed a good Hip-Hop song. As a Brasilian-American I really enjoyed the Hip-Hop and Bossa Nova incorporation. I look forward to more Hip-Hop songs with the Bossa Nova smooth feel to it. I feel Mr. Mendes has something good going here I hope to hear more of him and artist like Erykah, Common, Talib, Mos-Def, and so on. People stop leaving negative comments negative people have negative influences and we don't need that on this song.

  • This is a great song. Brilliance.

  • Sergio Mendes he's my legent.

it's reat he make his video new versions.

    ohhh,i always knew..

    brail is the besttt!!.

  • Mr Mendez seems a very humble man.. But Erykah Badu.. If I must label just 1 lady in the world a MILF..

  • "a little chocolate for your cinnamon toast"? what a stupid line...

  • i love this song . . .

  • there brothers you know that?

  • What can I say about this fabulous video,I am 31 years old and I love old skool HipHop and some of the hiphop from the millenium. When an innovator like Sergio Mendes mixes two genres together to form another expression of ART, he is a genius. You GO Sergio Mendes--this video sparkles with the flava of Brazil with the Capoeira, Samba and Bossa Nova and Carnival feeling.

  • Erykah Badu, what can I say about this sistah from another planet---she is definately one of the next generation of Divas along with Lauryn Hill, Macy Gray, Jill Scott, Adriana Evans, Mariah Carey and Mary J Blige. Erykah Badu's dramatics and overall look in this video are stunning! (enough said--the sistah is fabulous)

  • Will i am is phenomenal---I don't know why people on here are hating against him. He has produced so many people that it is a shame when you read UGLY comments---research and learn about the brotha before looking down your nose at his music. Check his first album out with the Black Eye Peas (CLASSIC) that is all I can say.

  • In fact while Will i am and BEP was on the west coast doing their thang the Roots was on the East Coast doing theres and I always felt that these two groups were always on a level of new and innovative things and crossing other genres to bring a new look to the hiphop game. Will i am is doing his thang and I am glad that Sergio Mendes recognize a talented brotha and did this project with him. Will i am is going places and that is what life is all about!

  • As for the people on here who are Sergio Mendes aficinados, I understand that you feel that Mendes went way below his standards in doing a production with a hiphop artist, but didn't no one tell him too do it--he wasn't forced to 'jump off a bridge' to do this production. This is off his album Timeless (which by the way is absolutely fabulous) and I think this song gave him a lot of energy. Something new and something blue, full of FLAVOR.

  • So to all the HATERS---get a life! Mr. Sergio Mendes knows what he is doing and still he is not taking away from his quality of music and direction. This video and this song is absolutely fabulous and it is on my iPod and I have the album...what does that say....I look forward to more songs incorporating hiphop and bossa nova.

    Caio!

  • It doesn't surprise me this video. He was never a great musician anyway. He left Brazil because he didn't have much to show there, plus his desire to make money out there. He is not going lower because he has ever been in that 3rd class level, copying music always, nothing creative, nothing with feeling or really artistic, but just a mixture of arrangements to cheat those who do not get to listen real Brazilian music at first hand. A big opportunist, that's all. Sorry...

  • I respect your opinion. But in my opinion, I like the video and the song. As for your comment about REAL Brasilan music.....my friend I have felt the heat of REAL Brasilian music, I felt the drums and the guitars of REAL Brasilian music. I adore the culture of Brasilian music because it feeds my soul....and I don't feel cheated at all--and I am still going to like Mr. Mendes as well! I am not apologizing, but I would like us to be friends!

  • Sure, my friend! What I meant with "real" music is about the roots, the core, about those artists and creations which keep revealing the best of life and humanity and do it so naturally that others just admire and follow. I just felt important to make such a distinction, because Mr.M***** is one of those who sell the copies and try to get credit for themselves. Ask any Brazilian musician if they had ever learnt anything new or got inspired from Mr. M* & co...

  • You are so right in your statement that I can't debate and plus my rebuttal isn't of any significance. I am glad that we are friends and I am glad that you feel strongly about Brasilian music--it has so much flavor and so much heat! Caio

  • rap was a way of expressing yourself, people always getting on rap, like rock or metal isnt just as bad or worse. so i say if you dont like rap why the hell are you listening to this song

  • preach!

  • Ah, this song is cool. Still, I can't help to think that Andre 3000 would've been a good addition to this song. But, Will put it down with some real nice lyrics and Erykah was nice on the background vocals. Altogether, this was a cool song.

  • girls looking like cinnamon toast and I got a lil chocolate for your cinnamon toast

  • will. i am . is so weird

  • Awful and sad.

  • Ironically... yeah, rap was supposed to be the voice of the inner cities. Even though 70% of it is bought by white suburbia, it still started as an inner city thing. So... if you don't like it, 'guess it wasn't made for you. No biggie.

  • como que estoy perdida.....Este es Sergio Mendez el de Brazil 66?????????????????????????????? ay por favorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • dalheeeeee sergioooooooooooo

  • mais um belo trabalho de um dos melhoresmúsicos brasileiros, que, alem de tocar piano divinamente, divulga a arte brasileira fora do país

  • this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!

  • this song is a great look in hip hop..i just wish will, iam, rapped a little less and gave more spot to sergio and erikah cause i wann ahear the piano

  • WHAT

  • One of the greatest summer hits xD

  • i love this song

  • this is the best erykah badu ever looked in a video. i love that look on her

  • what about bag lady or love of my life, she loosk beautiful

  • I agree with your female artist picks! Serg looks good, even if he is an old dude - he's young at heart - FEEL DAT HEAT!!! Awesome production behind this vid, right - love the artwork, too!

  • Iurena don't diss hip hop like that. I know there's a lot of crap out there but you obviously haven't heard any good stuff.

  • Diss? Diss? Is that a word? Hey, ghetto boy, the word is "disrespect". I can't help it if you grew up listening to ghetto thugs making so-called "music".

  • lol, i didnt know that the type of music one listened determined the depths of their vocabulary. Would it be right of be to call you impeteous, inane, and perlacious. big words huh, oh yea i listen to rap

  • cool im glad you like rap, but did you mean impetus or impetuous? plz those wordz arent big one meanz impulsive, lacking knowledge, and perlacious just meanz pleasure hmm your right about what anyone listenz to but what TuneInTurnOnDropOut iz commentin about iz how rap iz crap and rock rulez, he believez rapperz are all ghetto, but ghetto iz factor of people who live in proverty, itz not a character you cant act ghetto just like you cant act black or white etc..

  • man my comment was not directed at you and if it was recieved to you then apologized. i was actually agreeing with what you said. about rock and roll. And like you said ghetto is a state of mind. be too often confused the two. and i met impeteous not impetus, and when i said big words, i was being sarcastic

  • my bad

  • Just great !!! Stop supposing why they did it... it was all for good musics sake. What would you want more... good musicians working together.

  • yeaah..

    love it..

    only because it's about Brasil!

    =]]

  • 1 for the BEAT ...it's that heat, that heat that heat ...very beautyful clip

  • I hate rap, it ruins everything. It has no substance at all. Just a bunch of talking over samples from artists that create melodies and rhythms. All these stupid rhymes talking about nothing. I wonder if Sergio did it for the $.

  • I think the same about rap, but this is the exception.. Sergio is fantastic

  • what music u like rock n they actually say something? uh nah they talk bout shit that aint real or make any sense, nuttin but loud annoyin noise

  • Rock 'n roll is king; the rest is GARBAGE. Rappers are a bunch of thugs from the ghetto with talent for rhyming about their "bitches and hos". Brazil doesn't need that American negative shit.

  • ROCK N ROLL IZ NEGATIVE they talk about sudicide n murderin ur mother garbage more deathz are because of ROCK but listen ROCK waz better in the 60'z like rolling stone,Little Richard among otherz besides that ROCK IZ TRASH SORRY DUDE!

  • I agree, rock was better in the 60s and 70s. Today's rock sucks but anything is better than rap.

  • $ isnt everythin but if they did than oh well listen to artists like: Nas,Common, 2pac, Biggie,Big L, Talib Kweli,MF Doom, Wu-tang,Eric B & Rakim,Gangstarr,MOP,mobb deep old albums, KRS-One,Blackmoon,Madlib,Pharcyde,MC Shan,UTFO,MC lyte, u get me listenin to Hip Hop is versatile u got to know the music dont talk negative if ur music iz the same also..one
