Nevermind my previous comment; I did some research. Apparentely, it's called a Tanuki and ofter mistaken for badgers even though it's a racoon dog. And what I found hilarious is that not only is the Tanuki a shapeshifter, but has UNUSUALLY LARGE TESTICLES! Hard to believe considering the size of the animal, but it's true. In fact, most Tanuki statues have the Tanuki's testicles either flunged over their necks or used as drums. Just type in Tanuki on google if you don't believe me.
