  • Hi, What about Hypericum Mysorense and Hypericum Hookerianum? Where could I get these at?

  • Susun, I have a question regarding St. Joan's Wort. I have a friend who's been really down lately. I've heard that SJW can help elevate one's mood. However, I've heard that it takes awhile for the mood improvement to take effect. Is that true? Green blessings!

  • all herbs in capsules and pills are dangerous to use...especially st. johns wort. It should only be used as a tincture of the flowering top. Never in capsules.

  • By the way, I was wondering if anyone has looked into how SJW supplements (capsules) and SJW tincture might affect people differently. I took the supplement back in college when I suffered from S.A.D. and started behaving like a royal "B"word; and, years later I found a couple other people who reported the same thing, so I was just curious.

  • all herbs in pills or capsules are at best ineffective and at worst damaging and pose risk to the users help. Herbs are best prepared as simples, one herb at a time, using the appropriate part of the plant harvested at the correct season, most effective medicinal herb preparations include infusions, tinctures, vinegars, oils, and salves.

  • St. Joan's wort capsules are not safe and can cause over sensitivity to sunlight. The oil used externally (always) protects skin from sun and heals burn. Tincture also considered safe for easing muscle pain and a mild case of the blues...

  • One thing I've been wondering, lately, because I have a wonderful dog at home who I love with all my heart (Abby, a 10 y.o. rottweiler-lab), and she is having a lot of hip and joint pains (there's a name for it, but I could never hear it clearly, let alone spell it [displasia(sp?)]...but it's very common in dogs). So, I was wondering of SJW tincture could help our animals, too (they are often like family to us, anyway), especially my beloved dog.

  • yes, most likley can help. better to consult with dog, she will let you know. and remember dogs do not do well with alcohol.
