If you're looking for something from Studio 4C (which Tekkon was produced from), I recommend "Memories" which contains 3 separate short anime films in one.

Also, "Genius Party" and "Genius Party Beyond" are really good too, which these films are also comprised of short anime films.

"Memories" is out on DVD in the U.S. (I have a copy I bought in the U.S.), but I don't know if the last 2 has been released on DVD in the U.S. or not so you might need to find some way to get them.

Well, it's studio 4 degrees celsius trademark, in a sense. They have incredibly complex backgrounds as well as a lot of secondary action. And since they still hand paint cels, I imagine that a simple character animates better than a complex one.

While stylistically a fancy character looks nice, it is a bitch to animate well.

That's mostly the case in Japanese animation... The director of this one, Michael Arias, tends to go even a little further. Personally I like a lot the way he draws his characters. Less is more! :p
