@iperformtv I use to read this kind of comments in the videos of a lot of bands (that I actually like) but at the same time I think it's not that today music is in a total decay is that companies don't promote things that wouldn't be "sellable", sad but that's how the reality it is, or at least now... well even in that time was that way, bands like Pink turns Blue, The Sound, Killing joke, Polyrock (just for saying some) weren't that known as Sisters of Mercy (again mercadotecnia shit).

TSOM alias AE is NOT TERRIBLE live. I saw him at 1.3.2011 in berlin.it was sold out. the crowd was hypnotized and sing all songs with him. hes voice was touching, the sound was perfect. the lights were perfect. the FOG was perfect ;) it was breathtaking and gives me shivers. i hope to see him again in concert fast as possible.

@richmltn The only other explaination would be the drummer palying to a click track. There are loops you have to be on time with in alot of industrial music. Or it could be lippped synched.
@richmltn of course it is. Top of the Pops hardly ever let bands play live, they occasionally let singers sing but the bands had to be 'on track'. Was the price to pay to get any kind of exposure in the UK, TOTP back in these days was 'the pinnacle' of getting your music out there.
Singer-songwriter Diane Birch is doing a cover of this song...she took a very different approach but I think it sounds great! If you go to the s-curve records home page you can hear the track, enjoy!
@CynicalMachine They actually are considered a Gothic Rock band, but Eldritch's attitude towards the subculture really tries to prove otherwise. Nowadays his shows are really just kinda pathetic... But let's be honest here, compare the lyrical quality and general sound to like Bauhaus, Siouxsie, Screams for Tina, 13th Chime, etc. They really are quite similar to other Goth Rock bands.
But you're right, I don't know of any bands off the top of my head that tried to copy them.

And that was another thing you mentioned about identity. Since anyone can get the look, it's no longer original. But since the very point of it all is to be original, none of them really live up to the culture.

@InuKiba1 I am glad its not only me who think that Goth / Emo kids today are all little clones. As a UK Goth in the 80s the only things off the peg were our shoes (winkle picker / chelsea boots) all other clothing was pretty much made / changed / hand adorned / painted / bleached or dyed. There was no standard 'goth uniform' unlike todays kiddies who all wear baggy bondage trousers (lol), new rock boots and leather coats. I used to go clubbing and you would never see 2 goths alike.
@simoncrafferty now that's the proper sort of goth style i miss. i dont mind the modern day goth, their wannabe genre the emo is annoying but i really do miss the proper goth style of the past :/. i agree some shops make it all easy to obtain, though i do really love the new rock boots :3. back when i was in college i sometimes saw some goths about the city who wore such cool looking goth clothes but they customized them too, the looked well wicked :).

I saw them live once (without playback), and it was horrible. Sisters of mercy are simply not a live band, so it's better for them to use lipsync than try to sing. However, I still like their music very much after all these years.

@simoncrafferty now that's the proper sort of goth style i miss. i dont mind the modern day goth, their wannabe genre the emo is annoying but i really do miss the proper goth style of the past :/. i agree some shops make it all easy to obtain, though i do really love the new rock boots :3. back when i was in college i sometimes saw some goths about the city who wore such cool looking goth clothes but they customized them too, the looked well wicked :).

@doktorgriff well that is bloody good to hear you still customise, so many wannabe goths of today all look alike with their lack of customisations. It is so very boring, their like sheep. I'm not much of a goth my self but i'm an admirer of the goth style and it has been years since i last saw a proper goth and thought 'oh they look so cool!'. there is no way about it i do really like new rock boots but for true goth style they don't beat the boots of the past.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this song BUT this video is one of the WORST LIP SYNCING videos that I've ever seen. By the 1 minute mark it becomes a joke & unwatchable so I never finished it : ( I'll just listen to the audio & use my imagination insted

@RubenvonZwack Like I've said, I really appreciate the "Floodland era". But, think with me.. What about the old days? Around 85', 'FALAW' time and early? The classic concert at Royal Albert Hall.. The early songs like Body and Soul, Fix, Body Eletric, etc. Anyway, what I wanna say, is that was a inspiration right there! More valours beyond fame or cash. Just the basics, the soul. But that's ok. Evolution happens! Like I really appreciate songs like "Susanne", "Crash & Burn".. =)

The Sisters will always be the best Goth band around,so many other groups have tried to copy them.Saw the live back in 1985 and twice in 1990.shame they never achieved their true status .

I saw them live once (without playback), and it was horrible. Sisters of mercy are simply not a live band, so it's better for them to use lipsync than try to sing. However, I still like their music very much after all these years.
