Actually he's lost to chinese players quite frequently especially in important finals, This may be the only grand slam where he beat a chinese player in the final. Most of his major titles were won against other european players (persson 89, Samsonov 97, Persson 96,) He lost to Jian Jiliang in 87, and Kong in 2000. But he's my favorite player of all time and perhaps the best.

Waldner is the king at at that period. Chinese player can't beat him.

@1996Johnny Is that why Liu Guoliang, Jiang Jialiang, Chen Xinhua, Chen Longcan, and Cai Zhenhua have winning records against him?

@takkyu101 Winning one or two times against Waldner may be normal. Only Jiang and Liu were really stronger than Waldner in the early stage. Jiang was extremely strong in forhand smash and speed, and variable tactics. Liu was strong in 3rd ball attrack, service, and tactics. Finally, Waldner win both of them in the later stage.

Eventhough the other swedes beat Waldner quite frequently. Waldner is the better player overall. And definately stonger against the Chinese than any other player. It's almost as if he's more motivated to play against the Chinese.
