How they came up with the "insignificant" artists that you're talking about is each idol was asked who they would like to sing a duet with in the finale. You'll recall Alex Lambert (not adam) on an interview mentioned they ask them this at once they're in the top 10, so weeks before the finale. So although you may not like one of the artists who appeared, that is the person the idol contestant wanted.

Lee out-sold Crystal in sales by nearly double during/since Idol so if that's an indication (and I think it is) then you're wrong on that point. I liked Crystal's voice (when she wasn't screaming and screeching) but not her style. Lee is who I listen to on my iPod and in my car. But it is definitly going to be interesting to see what both of them do with their upcoming albums.
