i bought this album: John Buck Wilkin. It is from the album "In Search of Food, Clothing, Shelter and Sex" ABSOLUTLY NO SONGS LIKE THIS ONE ON THIS ALBUM.
Thanks for posting this. I think this is one of the most lilting and relaxing songs ever written. The film was so ahead of it's time. A non-linear masterpiece that deserves another look.
John Buck Wilkin from lp In Search Of Food Clothing Shelter and Sex" with other American Dreamer" album songs by Wilkin. -A great song writer and musician
Your star burned out ... rest in peace Brother ... I know it was a wild ride ... no more AA , no more meetings ... no more craving ... no more dope sick ... no more jonesing ... no more my friend , no more , no more ... no nerves , no nrevous shakes ... no more images darting in the corner of your vision ... no more ... no more Brother ...REST IN THE PEACE OF HIS ARMS... NO MORE ...NO MORE ... NO MORE...no AA meetings... No More.
Who sings this song - I saw this film on a great channel that doesn't exist anymore (i forget the name) but this is a GREAT SONG from a really interesting film that 70s hollywood blames for being the end of independant filmaking because Hopper copmletely let the production run amok.
It's playing at the Marfa Film Festival and Mr. Hopper's going back there for the first time in 50 years (since Giant) to show it and about the experience.
Lee Wasserman said that if Dennis Hopper did not recut the film, then it would only play for a limited time in the U.S. and that it would not even see the light of day in Europe even though European audiences were anxiously awaiting its European release, after it won the Venice award. Hopper still would not recut the film and refused to speak to Wasserman for years. In a recent interview, however, Hopper said that he has forgiven Wasserman.
@ I know what you mean it IS one of cinemas great 'cubist' films but why can't we have both versions so we can judge for ourselves. In any case Hopper himself had some doubts about how he was going to finish post production. If you watch American Dreamer (also on youtube) you can see he was a bit at a loss. And my own personal view is that his friend and mentor Alejandro Jodorowsky took advantage of him and persuaded him to do the film his way.
It's got to be Townes Van Zandt. I'd bet it is. The voice is unmistakable. He was one of the greatest songwriters ever, but totally underrated. He died in 1997.
been looking for this for ages. hopper says hes putting together a dvd release as we speak. amazing that this was not recognised in its time. i think it was frank zappa who said "if it sounds good, its out of date". quite fitting here

What many people don't seen to realize that as Kansas' life becomes more and more disjointed, so does the film!

You can see the BRUCE CONNER A MOVIE influence on Hopper's editing style

I haven't seen this movie yet.
When Mr Hopper died, a german newspaper wrote something about this movie. They mentioned, that music from the Grateful Dead was used here.
Is this true?
I couldn't find any information about that, and I think its wrong.
I guess they mixed it up with "Apocalypse Now", where a Grateful Dead Drum Solo is used ...

@KWFBong You're right: they're wrong. But even Deadless, it had a good soundtrack, including Wilkin, Kris Kristofferson (playing live), and others.

Who is singing this song???????????

The singer-songwriter is John Buck Wilkin. In a previous incarnation, he was "Ronny" of mid-60s surf/car/pop band Ronny & the Daytonas.

@sgberg The son of Maryjohn Wilkin? Really? That's interesting ... Would really like to see this movie because of the soundtrack ...
