Their songs got harder to cover and made fighting soooo much more fun. Not to mention it's a lot easier to connect with most of their newer songs because of the fact that being able to connect with the song makes hardcore what it is.

There is a big difference in between metalcore as you already stated. That's propably because of the huge spawn even the name alone already has. You can put hardcore and heavy metal into one song. But I think you more dig the new style of hardcore bands. I also dig walls of jericho.
