The Ministry of Transportation built a cage over a cave, sacred to the first nations people of the area, to prevent protestors from locking themselves in to stop the highway destruction. The Ministry of Transportation then proceeded to blast the rock hillside within a few meters of the sacred cave, likely destroying the underground chambers carved by water over thousands of years.
