This is a travesty! A wonderful ballad desecrated. It's supposed to be a poor tenant farmer relating the story in a broad country accent heavily laced with Ulster-Scots expressions. Thomas Russel was born in Dromahane near Mallow Co. Cork and hanged at Downpatrick jail in 1803. Well done Ive been looking for this for a while in the northern accent. Phil Coulters version is missing the important part. Slan leat
