@StartContaversy1 With many disorders like this, it is certainly a possibility, but more research needs to be done. My best educated guess from being a student of psychology is that you are born with it. Medications can help, but may be limited in effect, depending on how severe the Parkinson's is.

I think one causes muscles to contract and the other relaxes them, but they need to be in balance for fluid, coordinated movements. Parkinson's disease symptoms are the result of a dopamine deficiency and results in a constant tremor until a conscious movement / action is made whereas acetylcholine deficiency results in the opposite ie tremors occur during action.

I think one causes muscles to contract and the other relaxes them, but they need to be in balance for fluid, coordinated movements. Parkinson's disease symptoms are the result of a dopamine deficiency and results in a constant tremor until a conscious movement / action is made whereas acetylcholine deficiency results in the opposite ie tremors occur during action.

Normally, I ignore celebrities, but as someone who lost a grandfather to Parkinson's and is losing a young aunt to Alzheimer's, I was deeply moved by what Michael J. Fox had to say. I also share his frustration with the way that stem-cell research is portrayed in the media. That people like Limbaugh get paid hundreds of millions to make fun of people like Fox instead of taking these issues seriously demonstrates that companies like Clear Channel need their broadcast licenses revoked.

Fox and Limbaugh are both free to advocate whatever positions they desire. Fox is just an advocate for his circumstance which is obviously unfortunate. Limbaugh point was on a larger matter. I like Fox , but the devil is always in the details in legislation. Some pro lifer may have an alternate view on stem cells of course . Fox is not a victim , but he has to play the hand he is dealt and his celebrity, likeability and illness makes it hard to think of a better advocate for his sad situation!
