Chinatown in San Francisco existed when the first influx of Chinese (about 20,000) came for the Gold Rush in California due to internal strife and other problems in China. The Chinese were disliked in CA, so the government pushed the Chinese into a very dense area and did not allow them to leave the area, (now known as Chinatown). The 1906 earthquake destroyed most of Chinatown so they rebuilt it and made it resemble China as a tourist attraction too. The SF Chinatown is the first US Chinatown
those china town is pretend to be mainland , it is using traditional Chinese Hans characteristics which only available in Hong Kong(UK) Taiwan(ROC) and Marco(MU) most of them speak Cantonese not mandarin , those are escape to communist china chong kung, real big china town in hong kong is call天=sky水=water圍=castle in west north hong kong
