I have an SWC DX v1. It broke during a random power surge, but I've held onto it anyway for some reason. Anyone have any success repairing these things? For all I know it could be as simple as the SNES fuse repair.
Or if anyone would be interested in buying it from me as it is... though I'd much rather repair it. :(
Of course flash carts are great, but there's a feature that most don't have that the SWC DX2 can do. Backing up your SRAM data from carts and then later restoring back. Something handy if you want to replace the batteries in your original carts.
thw only thing i hate from those copier units is,they are NOT compatible with pal snes, ses,to make it compatible you got to install a cic chip or modify the snes,i could try a t slot asslong it works and not getting unstable.
You're incorrect about there being no copier units being compatible with PAL Super Nintendo. I had a Super Wild Card DX2 that worked flawlessly on my PAL machine when I was about 10 years old, and there's no way in hell I was schooled enough at that age to know how to modify a console's hardware! I don't know if there was one made specifically for PAL machines or not, but I guarantee you I had a Wildcard DX2 that worked on my PAL SNES. Thank you to the video uploader for the memories BTW!
I always resisted the urge to buy one of these (even though some can supposedly be modded for hard disks or flash drives). Now I finally have a SNES PowerPak, which is awesome, and I highly recommend it. I mostly got it for peace of mind (no more dependence on battery-backed game saves!).
The problem was for me when I had a super pro fighter, was that when Nintendo started making higher megs for games, I couldn't copy 32 meg games, also any games that had an FX chip or that used the mode 7, I couldn't copy either. I always found that I was very limited, but this video brought back great memories. I wish they had something for my PS3.
i prefer my mgh (multi-game hunter). it's almost the same as the super wild card but it also can copy and play genesis games. of course you cannot play snes games on a genesis and backwards! sorry about my bad english, i'm from Germany
oh yes, you're right. But fact is, i don't have the DX2 and the MGH can handle two systems, the DX2 only the SNES. ok, you may say: who needs genesis games? i do ;)
Do you have a link to this YSVX flash card. I'd like to check it out. I love my SWC DX2. Its been a highly reliable back-up device for me since the 1990s. I still use it from time to time until I had my original xbox modded for emulation.
Babalù can you please post a link to this fantomatic pheriferical you speak about? First time I heard and with the name you said noghing on google...obrigado
@Bellzebu666, The YSVX doesn't support all ROMS. The YSVX was just a playback device developed years after the SWC DX2. It also doesn't dump roms. In fact if it wasn't for people with SWC's and similiar devices to read and dump the cartridges the YSVX would have no purpose.
I can plug a harddrive, CD-ROM, Zip drive, or Compact Flash card into my 32mb SWC DX2 and I can dump and play any rom.
I have the SWC DX, it's a nice unit. I recently sold my Turbo Fighter 32M (DSP & CD-ROM version), which was basically a Super Pro Fighter Q clone. I think you could load games direct from your PC via the Parallel port using a program called uCON64
I've never tried the doctor sf7 so I wouldn't know - sorry. But I have owned previous SNES backup devices like the Super Magicom, original Super Wild Card and Super Wild Card DX. The DX2 plays almost every SNES/SFC roms except for the custom chips like SA-1, FX, and DSP2 games.
Very nice. I'm pretty happy with my DX, without the CDROM support. I only wish it had more memory so I could play Tales of Phantasia on real hardware.
Yeah, I don't have the CDROM peripheral either. I'm just glad to have the SWCDX2 in the first place. These backup devices are rare nowadays and i'm never giving it up - lol Yes, it would be nice to have more memory, too.
That Twinbee cracktro is awesome!!! I wish I was old enough back in the day to have been around the piracy scene for 16 bit console games. These days it's more straightforward for the most part, and rather boring because of that.
you can get Tales of Phantasia a 48MB game to load from a floppy disk. You jsut have to split it uisng ucon64.exe. I use a parallel port Zip drive to load my roms.
Just to be clear, the Wildcard does not support StarFox or any other FX, SA-1, S-DD1, SPC7110, OBC1, or C4. It does support DSP chip games, but only if a compatible DSP chip game is plugged into the top. Anyone know of a wilcard forum?
Very interesting! I own a pirated SNES game that many people have requested I dump (no rom exists) and i'm considering doing so and this really helps, thank u!
Its called "Alcahest". Its a Super Famicom title. It was supposed to be released in America but I guess the powers that be changed their mind - those bastards. Its a great game - check it out for yourself.

I never understood why the U.S and European Models of the SNES looked different, don't know of any other console like it!?

@yuvraj01 The European model has the same style case as the Japanese model.

very cool video, i've got the swc dx2 too, among alot of other units, and this is by far the best!
For the other guy asking about the gf7, it works well with most games, but it lacks alot of the features that the swc have.

Would it be possible to use this device to put the english translated rom of Secret of Mana 2 onto a backup cart?
Death2Bigots 2 years ago
you can use a copy of illusion of gaia and programmed eproms ( google snes cart hack )
and yea, this and the gamedoctor sf7 i have tested SOM2 works fine.
a new alternative is to use your wii and get a snes to wii controller adapter (google RetroUSB)

I have a SWC DX (not 2). Why is the menu background on your tiled with "CD"? Can yours read from CDs too?

Yes, the SWCDX2 has the ability to connect to a an external CDROM (Disk Dual) by parallel port or an Iomega 100mb Zip Drive.
