Believe it or not. Some new Muslimat have a lot more value of Islam than some who were born into it. Actually sister Sarah has over and over won this argument, and sister Mona irrationally went off by comparing Modesty with Indecency and Piety with Impiety. Mona, just as you chose to uncover, then live and let live. Ur so called intellect has no weight at the end if u chose to disobey your Maker.
May Allah ban sarkozy from Jannah Ameen, how can he ban what God sent to the people... while He gives them still to eat to dress and to live. May Allah ban them from all that He has granted them in this Earth.
I don't believe the women who wear those things really WANT to wear them--they feel compelled to do so by their men, their mullahs, and so on. I believe they are forced to do so in most cases. The Burqa and other extreme coverings are about oppression of women. I believe those who claim it's their choice are put up to say that by men.

MONA! your just a attention seeker and just trying to sell your self to the western parts by telling them what they want to hear! you dont like NIQAB! FINE!! but HOW DARE YOU RAISE A FINGER AT THE SISTERS THAT DO!
Overall from this debate, Western society believe in double standard. Its a belief system from economy to political issue (i.e. Iran nuclear program) .

Sarah Joseph employs typical sophistry in her practised replies. Freedom comes with duties. Be intolerant of intolerance. Ban this badge of inequality. Read the Koran with a rational open mind.
I think it is a bad idea to ban burqa coz it is yet another way men telling a woman how to dress, how to live their life, it is another way to try to control woman, and to take to a government level and to try legislate the way woman dresses, it is not wrong against human right but it really violates the whole basis that democray and democratic countries are based on, this is free choice, this is something that i choose to wear, i disagree that it is some right wing idealogy

if you dont want to wear it ,don't, but don't dictate to others what they should wear, you allow your self the freedom to live you lifestyle , dont take that freedom away from other women if this is what they choose "nikab", opression for them and freedom for you Mona?
Wrong argument Mona. Islam does not put the fully covered women on a pedicle. The main platforms of Islam are your manners and your intentions. If you are religious and you don't hv both, it is a lot worse than any non-veiled or not fully covered woman then has good manners and intentions with everything she does in her life. From living in a Muslim country, it is actually ironic how most of my non-veiled friends actually good Muslims. In Islam your are judged by what you do, not what u wear only
@suk0nepa I know. She seems to think that anti-Klan laws in the states are a good example of clothing bans.
*Sigh* I know she means well, but her argument aren't very convincing. I wonder how these women feel about the body scan at the airports. Any way you look at it, there isn't much privacy left.
@suk0nepa You're right..not only is she just repeating herself almost word for word in every interview, but , I don't know if you've noticed, she's even wearing the EXACT same clothes too. lol what gives? (Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's a bit weird)..and I wonder how SHE'D feel if someone said to her "um, you've been wearing the same clothes over and over and we don't like it,so we're going to pass a law to ban you from wearing this outfit"..wonder if she'd get it?
Nikab and Hijab are only for women, and Nikab is not obligatory for Muslim women, as the prophet Mohamed asked ladies to cover their bodies except their faces and hands, but some beautiful Muslim women prefer to wear the Nikab as it covers them well and prevent them from the men eyes.
Of course :) ... our great religion 'Islam' banned the idea of mimicking between men and women, as men should not mimic women and wear what the women wear, also women should not mimic men and wear what men wear.
I see. I live in America. It is typical to see both men and women wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Are you accepting of our customs, or do you see it as a problem that we dress that way?
Yes of course I accept your customs and its not a problem for me or for any Muslim at all :) :)
These customs are in Egypt too, here in Egypt we do have Christians and they wear what ever they want .. I'm a Muslim and I do trust other religions and I respect all people who belong to other religions, as there is a quote in Holy Quran that says " you have your religion and I do have my own and both of us do respect each other in our habits and customs ".
@taaaamer1 Great. I'm glad to hear a tolerant perspective, because as you may know, there are some haters out there from every faith. And for such a small percent of the population, they sure do make an awful lot of noise. Well, they don't speak for most of us. I'm glad you agree.
By the way, how are things in Egypt for you since Mubarak was ousted? Has much changed?
I totally agree with your point .. also I guess that the misleading media plays a big role in creating hatred among the people and their religions, So we have to listen to the good people from every religion, like Sarah Joseph for example, who are non fanatic in their speeches to build our opinions about each other on a best way.
Really you are a good listener .. Its lovely to talk to you too :)
Of course there is a misconception, I guess that only Iran & KSA are still doing that as these two countries has only one religion which is Islam, So I do support them to use the pure rules of Sharia like stoning and whipping when it is applied to Muslims only. because when a Muslim do so he deserves to be punished by this way.
In contrary,in Egypt or other countries that has more than a religion, are not using the pure Sharia rules but they punish the adulterers by imprisoning them.
@taaaamer1 It is okay for us to disagree slightly. I personally don't believe in incarceration or mutilation of any kind. Human beings are advancing technology to a degree that makes it very easy for us to live freely.
With renewable energy, we could provide for the entire planet, and I believe the vast majority of crime and punishment will become obsolete. Right now, its mostly big corporations that stand in the way of a peaceful transition. I will pray to a brighter future. :) Peace.
@philnoll Hi. Can I just say that, in reading your comments, I have come across some things that I honestly thought only I saw and believed..and it fills me with great joy to see that there could possibly be others out there who see this the way I do. Thanks (It's regarding what you said about energy, crime &punishment)
@ammarios Its nice to hear that my comments have had a positive impact. I am usually worried that I have offended someone with all my curiosity. I'm not sure exactly which comment it is. Could you explain further please.
So I guess the media is still biased and it always trying to support the concept of Islam-phobia.
Sister Sarah is a public speaker, editor & CEO of emel Media a Muslim lifestyle magazine, a great magazine that present Islam & Muslims in a best way :)
I advice you to listen to her & to read her amazing topics about Islam & coexistence between Islam & other religions.
Btw in Egypt we are very happy as there is a lot of changes happened the past days, every thing will b ok
@taaaamer1 It must not be very common to have to deal with adultery, because a practicing Muslim knows they cannot do it. I may not be fond of the punishment, but I do value monogamy. We have lost those values to a large degree in my generation. :-(
Believe it or not. Some new Muslimat have a lot more value of Islam than some who were born into it. @taaaamer1 You're welcome. And thanks for the kind words.
In America, the conservative media warns of Sharia law overriding our federal courts.
We hear that Muslims still stone adulterers. Its hard to reconcile with our view of human rights.
Of course, stoning and whipping are forbade here, and we live under secular law.
That's the main issue for Americans when it comes to understanding Islam.
Is this just a misconception? Thanks for your dialogue. :-D
