Believe it or not. Some new Muslimat have a lot more value of Islam than some who were born into it. Actually sister Sarah has over and over won this argument, and sister Mona irrationally went off by comparing Modesty with Indecency and Piety with Impiety. Mona, just as you chose to uncover, then live and let live. Ur so called intellect has no weight at the end if u chose to disobey your Maker.

I don't believe the women who wear those things really WANT to wear them--they feel compelled to do so by their men, their mullahs, and so on. I believe they are forced to do so in most cases. The Burqa and other extreme coverings are about oppression of women. I believe those who claim it's their choice are put up to say that by men.

I think it is a bad idea to ban burqa coz it is yet another way men telling a woman how to dress,how to live their life, it is another way to try to control woman,and to take to a government level and to try legislate the way woman dresses, it is not wrong against human right but it really violates the whole basis that democray and democratic countries are based on, this is free choice, this is something that i choose to wear, i disagree that it is some right wing idealogy

I think that Sarah Joseph explained why France needs a slutwalk - that whatever one wears should not endanger them.

Wrong argument Mona. Islam does not put the fully covered women on a pedicle. The main platforms of Islam are your manners and your intentions.If you are religious and you don't hv both, it is a lot worse than any non-veiled or not fully covered woman then has good manners and intentions with everything she does in her life.From living in a Muslim country, it is actually ironic how most of my non-veiled friends actually good Muslims. Nikab and Hijab are only for women, and Nikab is not obligatory for Muslim women, as the prophet Mohamed asked ladies to cover their bodies except their faces and hands, but some beautiful Muslim women prefer to wear the Nikab as it covers them well and prevent them from the men eyes.

These customs are in Egypt too, here in Egypt we do have Christians and they wear what ever they want .. I'm a Muslim and I do trust other religions and I respect all people who belong to other religions, as there is a quote in Holy Quran that says " you have your religion and I do have my own and both of us do respect each other in our habits and customs ".

In America, the conservative media warns of Sharia law overriding our federal courts.

We hear that Muslims still stone adulterers. Its hard to reconcile with our view of human rights.

Of course, stoning and whipping are forbade here, and we live under secular law.

That's the main issue for Americans when it comes to understanding Islam.

Of course there is a misconception, I guess that only Iran & KSA are still doing that as these two countries has only one religion which is Islam, So I do support them to use the pure rules of Sharia like stoning and whipping when it is applied to Muslims only. because when a Muslim do so he deserves to be punished by this way.

In contrary,in Egypt or other countries that has more than a religion,are not using the pure Sharia rules but they punish the adulterers by imprisoning them.

@taaaamer1 It is okay for us to disagree slightly. I personally don't believe in incarceration or mutilation of any kind. Human beings are advancing technology to a degree that makes it very easy for us to live freely.

With renewable energy, we could provide for the entire planet, and I believe the vast majority of crime and punishment will become obsolete. Right now, its mostly big corporations that stand in the way of a peaceful transition. I will pray to a brighter future. :) Peace.
