I have to agree with some of the commenters. Renner is hot. I first noticed him in North Country... another "based on a true story" film where he again played the bad guy. As for the movie... it scares the crap out of me. :P

I think Renner was fantastic, and definately captured the pathological loneliness of Jeffrey. My own problem with this film is that I don't think it really captured just how macarbe and depraved Dahmer's life at the 213 apartment was. I wanted a much darker presentation of that apartment

I remember renting this from Blockbuster. I was lmao when the store clerk said the Picasso part when Dahmer clowned his drawing! Dahmer was a freaking psycho!! The only thing I remember from this movie was the part where Tracy was running from Dahmer's apt with the handcuff on screaming.

Jeffery was unique. He was a tortured, sick soul who killed out of desparation, not out of sadism like bundy or gacy. Of course he did terrible things, but he admitted he hated killing and didn't want to hurt people...he only wanted to keep them around.
I am NOT condoning his actions, but he has repented and showed remorse, unlike some serial killers who will never admit their guilt. Genuine, right up until his death.
I'm glad he is free from his torment. RIP Jeffrey.

Jeffery was unique. He was a tortured, sick soul who killed out of desparation, not out of sadism like bundy or gacy. Of course he did terrible things, but he admitted he hated killing and didn't want to hurt people...he only wanted to keep them around.
I am NOT condoning his actions, but he has repented and showed remorse, unlike some serial killers who will never admit their guilt. Genuine, right up until his death.
I'm glad he is free from his torment. RIP Jeffrey.

I always try to understand the person. Environment creates serial killers, they're not born that way. Anyways, he did try to perform voodoo rituals to gain wealth and stuff. I read about it.
As far as understanding Dahmer is concerned, I think you're making it too complicated. Dahmer was always lonely and had difficulties communicating with others. He tried to zombify his victims so that they would "always stay with him". He never wanted his victims to leave his apartment.

As far as knowing if a psychopath is created by his environment, nothing has been proved so far.
In fact, recent discoveries in this field are leaning towards anomalies in the brains of these individuals. Seems like the environment's playing more of a "triggering" role in that department - pushing them over the edge.
Just wanted to point that out. There are some nice documentaries about it on youtube. "Psychopath - Psychopaths - Documentary - [part 1]" is a good one for starters.

If you look at the past of most serial killers, most of them have histories of abuse or mistreatment. The killer targets victims who remind them of their tormentor. The man who murders women because his mother was a bitch, or the man who murders women because a woman broke his heart.
